Pitching Meeting: AVATAR THE WAY OF WATER Reaction! | Ryan George | James Cameron | Blue People

Ойын-сауық

While I loved James Cameron's Avatar The Way of Water, I fully recognize it's flaws and am more than happy to have a good laugh from Screen Rant and Ryan George's Pitch Meeting on it.
Avatar The Way of Water stars Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Vol. 2 and Vol. 1, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Star Trek Beyond), Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Aliens, Aliens 3, Alien Resurection, Ghostbusters) and Sam Worthington (Call of Duty Black Ops 4, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, Terminator Salvation) and is directed by James Cameron (Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The Abyss, Titanic).

I think they still hunted Jake because he was kind of like a symbol to the resistance even if he is not the leader, he is like the guy who started it all so killing would practically shatter the morale of the navi which is one of the biggest factors in winning a war

  • @nathanp2007

    @nathanp2007

Yup. Also, even though he has taught a bunch of stuff to his tribe, he is an invaluable resource to the Navi when it comes to tactics, knowing how the enemy (humans) think/strategize/operate and on his own he is depicted as one of the best Navi fighters. Dedicating that one ship along with a few Avatars to go on a special hunt & kill operation doesn't seem like some huge resource waste. Kill him and it prevents the Navi from banding together as a species (as I'm sure will happen in one of the sequels) under his leadership and knowledge (and as a symbol of great success [Avatar 1]) and likely reduces their success with smaller operations like that train job at the start of the movie.

It may simply be that the humans spent a lot of effort demonizing Jake as a traitor to mankind and made him a priority target for the sake of "justice" in order to justify the personnel and resources they were pumping into the war on Pandora. Then, even after he left the war front, he needed to be hunted down so the war mongers could answer the people they riled up.

_think they still hunted Jake because he was kind of like a symbol to the resistance_ *Nope,* the villain who comes back decides to hunt Jake for revenge. There is no 'resistance' movement at the beginning of the film. There is nothing to resist - the bad guys went home. That's how the 1st film ended. But Cameron needs more money now, so......13 years later, we retcon. Truth is there isn't any real reason for them to invade Pandora anymore. Original was unobtanium and even then Cameron - doesn't really bother to explain how they needed it. In this film - they hardly mention it. Most of all - > They are IMMORTAL now. (which the film pretends is no big deal) So they don't need the whale sperm which is an inferior form of immortality. It's just sloppy stupid lazy writing for an audience that doesn't really care as they are looking at a 3D screen saver. So no, none of the excuses for the plot holes make any sense.

  • @nathanp2007

@@summertyme5748 Wow, you really didn't watch the film did you? They are coming back to Pandora to colonize because Earth is dying (as explained even at the start of Avatar 1 by Sully). It is said multiple times in this movie that they are going to make it Earth 2 (effectively). When have any humans in this universe been immortal (before the whale brain fluid)? Are you talking about the ability to backup their brains? Cause that isn't immortality. That is making a copy and that copy, guaranteed to be an outdated copy, is put into a new body.

I think they wanted sully dead because of what he represents. He betrays and kills his own kind in Avatar 1 and sets back the colonization of pandora. Jake is a legend on pandora and they can’t have that running around inspiring the Navi to fight. That and revenge 😅

The other Tribe disappeared at the end, even though their leaders daughter was still there, weird also, they were so afraid of drowning when the whole thing about becoming Water People was to be able to hold breath forever so to speak.. and why didn't Neytiri , I know that's wrong spelling, why didn't she learn the Water Ways??she had to fly, etc then was stuck under water in the ship. All I could think of. I know Jake agreed to original deal with Quark, whatever, but by then, he was the Only One Left????? Where was the Water People?????! Lost me all together, then with Sigourney weaver's voice as an adult voice instead of tweaking it to be a teenager, ughh, every time she spoke, pulled me out! She was a great character though, so just Sad! And Jake, Such a Chicken Shit! Let others sacri, let's just hide. Also, the whole plot of, let's get rid of those in the way, they all then leave and hide, sheesh, Job well done,. Why Hunt them. Personal reasons, in the military, yeah right! The tech and effects were Unbelievable!! But yeah, what's up JC after all this time??? I'll still see it again though, kinda sad but cool! Peace and Health to All, Happy Holidays! ⚡✌️🤟⚡

Is there an explanation in the movie for why they don't just clone the space whales, or just synthesize whatever substance they produce? Cause that's sort of feasible for current technology. It's kinda explicit that the movie human's cloning tech is basically perfect, what with Jake's family and all...just wondering. Wouldn't want to think that a scribe like Cameron would throw science out the window to make another HUMANS AM BAD movie.

On hunting Sully, I felt Quaritch was signed to undermine the leader of resistance so driving him away should be enough but he was so taken on pursuing his revenge that he ignored and overstated his orders. I don't think his budget included "pay whale hunters" but he could tell superiors "we don't deal with this guy he will be back". It is not spelled out in the film but it was how I understood. I had far more problems with Sully leaving the forest although that was his story arc of learning to take a stand instead of running. It is not perfect but I can't say it wasn't thought out to cycle the plot.

The other thing about Sully leaving the forest that was not explained to me. So were they able to protect themselves without his leadership? I hope at this point they were trained and had secondary officers to cover for him but a moment of him telling his second in command "I need to protect my family. You will be in charge now." And maybe a scene later showing them defeating some aircraft would do wonders to cover that. It is a minor nitpick though

Titanic was the movie that ended my love of James Cameron films. Felt like a huge exploitation of the real tragedy and wanting us to care more about two fictional characters than the 1500+ people who really died. It even portrayed William McMaster Murdoch as a coward which pissed off his family and hometown who celebrate him as a hero. The film's executives had to go visit and rather than apologise they just donated £5000 to his memorial (not Cameron though, I guess he too busy to attend). General public seem ok with it cos it happened over 100 years ago but would they be cool if he made a film about 9/11 next and wanted us to give a damn about a couple of people he made up, and portrayed some of the real people as cowards?

4:10 Yeah film has the classic sequel problem of a ridiculous story as an excuse to repeat the original story. I never got passed the fact that they are just shoving all the marines minds into Avatars when originally they HAD TO USE JAKE BECAUSE HE WAS A TWIN. He was also personally under qualified and unsure of himself which was a part of his story arc. But...no, now you can just shove the memories of ANYONE into an Avatar, so that makes the original plot bogus. And since this effectively makes everyone immortal there are no stakes...and there is no need for the whale juice which stops your aging. I know if my choice were between having a Super human body that will last forever and can allow my conscious to be re downloaded at will, or stopping aging in my existing body (still vulnerable to disease and death) - i'd choose Avatar. In my opinion Avatar 2 is bad science fiction with an ill conceived plot and relies on an audience which doesn't care as they are smoking doobies and looking at 3d.

it's dumb period. the focus on killing jake for no reason. the focus on the whale juice when the avatars already make them immortal. they forget about the previous macguffin - the unobantium and just replace it with an even dumber one. Spider is basically tarzan. the final battle is titanic. the changing screen refresh rate (frame rate) is annoying. the 3d still looks fake. the acting is bad. the dialogue is atrocious BRO. Film is garbage - i'm sorry.

Bro got old but I think it made sense. All of the characters saying it were effectively raised/trained by a US Marine. Not to mention we are only hearing the "English" translation of whatever they are saying in Navi. So whatever they are saying is closest to "bro" because Jake adapted his Earth US Marine lingo to Navi and his kids of course copied his verbage.

My brain went 3600* when I heard that character say "Whale brain juice is like the only reason we come to this shithole anyway, this one canister of brain juice we get from a single 1000 year old whale is worth like 50Mil! It stops aging for rich people back on Earth!" So they basically had to have killed those whales during the 1st movie, taken a bunch of samples including the brain juice, transported that shit back to earth somehow, then with a limited sample figure out that the whale juice is really good stuff before deciding to pop on over back to pandora again for the sole reason of getting a few more bottles of brain juice worth 50Mil a pop... So these guys just colonized a different world lightyears away from earth to "profit" 50 million spacebucks per ancient whale they could find in a limited supply? ...They assembled a military space colonization program... ...Established what seems like a big ass city... ...Using state of the art robotics and what had to be infinitely expensive equipment... ...To hunt what has to be one of the most limited species on the entire planet singularly for a jug of juice... ...That profits them 50Mil per successful hunt? Why did they even mess around in the forest region in the first place if that was the case? In my mind, these writers ran into a black plot hole when writing this space script

Jake is not in the way anymore but he can come back anytime it's that simple, and if he defeated them first time than he can do that again. Jake is the one who knows how to fight these guys not the scientists. They tried to fight these guys first and they blew there home tree but when jake was with them fighting he didn't even let them scratch the tree of souls. So, They thought they should at least get rid of jake first.

The reason maybe they hunt the main character eventhough he is not part of the resistance, maybe because he was a catalyst in the previous war, and letting him alive will give them a problem in the future, especially if the MC finds that their kind is under attack again. It is like a thorn that needs to be remove at all cost.

The reason why they are looking for Jake Sully is that he is the reason why the humans left Pandora to begin with, and when the humans came back and setting up there new bases. Jake Sully acts as the leader for the resistance and has adapted a good strategy on crippling the humans to an extent. Now in the movie, it is explained that Jake Sully has a well protected fortress in the Hallelujah mountains (floating rocks) and any expedition to hunt him down and the Navi has not bear fruit. That is why when Jake Sully left to the sea people, that gave the humans the advantage to kill him where he is vulnerable and intel also arises that maybe Jake Sully has a secret hideout or fortress to take advantage of the ocean geography, which is why the Humans are so into this guy.
