    Good job Brother. You cared enough to try, and better yet, you came back and corrected this. However…. I just bought the 850 and there is a way to make more smoke! Simply push the MPC/Prime icon and the augar rolls more pellets into the firebox when you want more smoke. Keep on smoking!!

    Yes I know about the prime function and it does work for more smoke but it only works when you hold it down, still be better then not having a smoke setting but the best thing is to smoke under 225 and then raise them temperature after you cover whatever meet your smoking to bring it to its desired internal temperature! Thanks for watching me! It drove me nuts not being able to adjust smoke on it when I first bought it.

    Lol was thinking my 850 had A p setting read the manual again nothing about that but didn’t know about the s mode was alwas running it 190 for smoke no I put it on s 180 👍

    Honestly the easiest way is pellet tubes. I usually have layers of pellets in them depending on the flavors and meat i smoke. I even use thrm on my gravity feed MB

    Man I have the same smoker and pressing the S button is only to let it rise up in temp at the begging right ? Then I change the setting to the temp I want after right ?

    The S temperature is set to 180 degrees! You get the smoke from 180-225. I usually smoke at 225 for all meats then increase at the end or during the cooking process

    @@joeking9933 real quick the p-setting isn’t a smoke setting on the pit boss pro series, it’s meant to control temperatures depending on weather conditions and you can either adjust your p setting up or down so the temperature doesn’t fluctuate and it doesn’t affect your smoke levels. Your best bet is to smoke and set your pit boss pro series to anything under 225 to smoke your meats. If you need more smoke flavor, try changing pellet brand, buy a smoke tube, build a cheap smoke box and add wood chips and charcoal into it. There is several ways to produce more smoke flavor. Visible smoke isn’t always the best smoke. The clean smoke you can not visibly see and it’s doing its job and giving you a smoke ring and flavor to your meats. Hope this helps

    So if p stands for probe, that means my 850 can have 7 probes but only two places to plug them into? Lol….

    @christopherclark6419 has a good point. I was wondering the same thing. Why have the settings for 7 or 9 probes if there aren't any slots for them?
