We take a trip every March to escape the Michigan winters! Brevard is one of our preferred hot spots! We love it for the bike trails, hikes, breweries, and just about everything an outdoorsy person loves!
In this video we made the mistake of going to the top of Black Mountain Trail (Upper) to see what it was all about. Not sure why we took our bikes, it was a beautiful hike! LOL To save half a day I suggest skipping upper Black Mountain trail and riding middle and lower! Unless you really know what you are getting into. The video doesn't do justice since the GoPro wasn't running on our hike a bike moments. Love love love Pisgah and the rugged challenge it brings, but be warned Upper is above sport rider level.
Pisgah, in general, is know for old school rugged, chunky, root, riding! A little different than the newer style of machine built trails popping up everywhere. This is part of the draw for me, and many others, to ride some raw rugged trails. Dupont State Forest is a great alternative in the area with less aggressive trails and less climb. They are both amazing trails for each of their own reasons!
