    I absolutely love clarinets. in six grade I started out on the b flat clarinet. Then when I went into 7 I still plated it. then around middle of 7 grade I was moved to play the bass clarinet. then in 8 grade which is my current grade I still play the bass clarinet which I love. I was informed today that next school year I will start the contra alto clarinet in high school. I can't wait

    @@sk8erbeb0p2 multiphonics really don't work like that, you can't just play any two notes. There are just a few that work but they never really work in ensemble settings as they are often too quiet and sound very unclear. You could hum while playing but it doesn't produce as good of a multiphonic as on a brass instrument, it creates more of a growl sound. @MrPumpkinMan That's true, but sometimes bass clarinet can be a beast, even in middle school music with pieces like cake by the ocean. Also if you try out for all state, the etudes are most certainly melody and the stuff you play in all state (assuming you get in) is definitely very interesting and fun. Also if you happen to be pretty good at the instrument, you can request better music in high school. I've requested solos and since I'm one of the best players in my band, they sometimes give one to me!

    Hurrah! what a wonderful performance. I love clarinet quintet because it gives the effect of playing dual melody with addition of three more keys (notes) on foot-pumped harmonium (Reed organ) when all the five of you simultaneously. When one of you play and other four of you keep silence at some parts the voice of individual clarinet is clearly understandable. Not only clarinet quintet but also quintets of different musical instruments too gives the same effect as mentioned above.

    3:26, clarinet 2 plays a G. Okay. 3:28, clarinet 2 has G with an option for E. Yeah, you don't know what the hell you're doing. Either you can't be bothered to proofread, or you made harmony "optional" which is sorta dumb considering they just PLAYED that G, so you clearly think they're capable. If you want more voices, write more instruments. It's that simple.

  • @j5k555

    @j5k555

    7 жыл бұрын

    That clearly is an excuse and not why there is dyads. No clarinet player is uncomfortable playing 'g' or 'e' above middle c.That is really comfortable middle range. Even besides that, the arrangement is not good. This is the type of music that really suffers from bad voice leading, you obviously haven't been taught that subject. And there is no reason why you are doing huge jumps with one clarinet to go below other clarinet, that was already playing in that register. Clarinet is really versatile instrument in terms of range and timbre. But you are at the same register almost for the entire piece, playing at the same dynamic and the whole ensemble is playing almost all the time together. It is really tiring. The listener, that listens something else than familiar tunes, loses interest after a minute. Clarinets low register is really effective and sounds fantastic, but don't overuse it and build so many thirds in there, it gets muddy really easy. When you don't have so practiced ear and skills yet, set the rule about larger intervals at the bottom and smaller intervals at the top, to your basic guide.

    Emiliano Salomon There are numerous problems with that, in that case. 1: As many clarinets (let alone most instruments period) learn by playing in school within a lot of others who play said instrument, the natural assumption for more than one note in a part is to divide it amongst the section. Hence, if you wish for a single player to choose which note to play, you must notate this, as it is out of the normal convention for notation. Either put parenthesis(es?) around the less-favored notes (in your opinion as an arranger), or simply say "pick either split" or something like that. 2: This is personal opinion, so you may disregard if you wish, but I still must type this to feel at ease (and also to make "numerous" true). I feel that as an arranger - yes, I am one too - it is my responsibility to transcribe the work for whomever will be playing, and so I have basically done the work for them, so they don't have to play by ear. As a performer, here's what I would take away from someone leaving notes in and telling me to choose: A: The arranger was indecisive. Not so bad a problem, as sometimes it's difficult to reduce orchestral scores to say, 5 notes (per hand) for a piano transcription. This is acceptable if, as I said, it is at least notated so, or if the harmony was hard to transcribe and you left the original melody in as a failsafe. B: The arranger may just have been lazy. All I think is "wow, this idiot ripped stuff from an orchestral score and didn't even remember clarinets can play only one note at a time". I'll assume the best, and thus assume this is not your case - but regardless, it does come off like that. Here it is said that "I am too lazy to just pick a chord degree and stick with it." It's too hard to choose, you say, and also too hard to put parenthesis around the notes? I say bollocks. Heck, stick to the bare fundamentals if you must, which state that the fifth of a chord is least important if a voice must be cut - and so an Em9 chord with 4 voices would be spelled E-G-D-F (or F#, depending on your training and/or the key), omitting the implied B. But if you're too lazy to even bracket the chords, it speaks VOLUMES about you and your arrangement. C: The splits are octaves, and so nothing unusual. This, however, does tie back into A, of the arranger being indecisive, but rather more of the skill level of their players. I am guilty of writing a G twice above the staff, and then shrugging and putting a G on the staff in parenthesis in case they can't hit it. But again, it all comes back to notation and confidence. Now, I realize you may be a beginner, and it is evident from many other habits in this score that I will not mention for sake of this comment remaining a wall of text instead of a castle of text. But if you wish to do this for say, money, or even just be knocked up in the "quality" portion, it's best to squash these habits now. Best regards regardless (ha!).

    Why 2 Bb and 3 Bass? You would have been better off with 4 Bb 1 Bass, or 3 Bb 1 Alto 1 Bass or even a small Clarinet Choir and have 1 Eb 2 Bb 1 Alto and 1 Bass

    @@tylerroberts4613 I know that I could rent, but it's just another inconvenient. I really enjoy the alto clarinet, but my band owns 0 altos and I dont know anyone who would be willing to play that with us or anyone willing to play it at all for that matter. The only e flat clarinet we have is a contralto and it's only used in 1 - 2 pieces of music a year at my school. I agree that a contrabass could be very beneficial to this, but for some reason I've never seen one in a clarinet group of 6 or less.

    Some parts the Bb clarinet is playing two notes at the same time, which is impossible. And the off beat thing from 194-204 is so stupid, even you have 1/4 after that. Why don’t you arrange those notes on the beat and use 2/4 in 204 instead? 226 since you have a different grouping of notes, you have to change the time signature into 3/4. In addition, I can see that most of the time the first bass clarinet and the third bass clarinet are playing in octaves or similar rhythm while the second is playing in a pretty different way and is more close the Bb clarinet, I think it’s better to put the ‘second’ bass clarinet in the third line and the ‘first’ bass clarinet in the fourth. These mistakes have shown that you know nothing about music and can cause pain to the players (if you are going to let ‘real musician’ instead of just computer play it). Even there are far more mistakes than these. Therefore please try to understand these, check your arrangement again carefully and correct the mistakes.

    I mean, this music isn’t very well written. If you listen to it, it’s fine, but once you start reading it and looking at it, it is messy. There is a section where the clarinet 1 slurs, but the notes are also staccato, which is very contradicting in music.
