this may be an unpopular opinion, so Elizabeth is cool and all but I think the love triangle they made between her, James, Will, and jack was a bit much she kissed every single one of them and was confused about which one she wanted but already pledged her love to Will. I also didn't like the fact that almost every guy was interested in her for the sake of it. that's just something I really don't like about her character.

Yeah, it was said that the reason why the compass kept on pointing at Jack was because Jack said he knew how to find Will and Elizabeth was dying to find Will, Jack was the only lead that was why the compass kept pointing on Jack. I actually like Carina's character, most are comparing her to Elizabeth and made her look like inferior. They are both different characters hence Carina can't be Elizabeth 2.0 who's one of the guys. Her field of knowledge is different from the pirates so I think her character and her background was the reason why she can't be as badass as Elizabeth as she's one with those normal people who don't want to be involved with pirate. She's cool in her own way, speaks her mind ( although quite dangerous ), a nerd who's a woman of Science but still kept her cool the second time she had encountered things Science can't explain. Most would really have the same reaction as hers when encountering a paranormal thing for the first time but she accepted it. The movies are about piracy and including Carina who revolves in a different world is actually smart, her character and her response to new world is quite realistic and cool.

fun fact, in the "I got a jar of dirt" scene jack wasn't actually meant to fall, that was Jonny Depp actually falling and improvising the rest. and it ended up making the final cut. which makes it 15 times better when you know that

I saw the rickroll coming because of another comment but it still hurt. Edit: I was pissed that Elizabeth wasn't made to sail while waiting for boring, proper Will to return. Throughout the movies, she expresses her want to be free, she gets a taste of that while being with the pirates and then they flippin' stick her on an island? She was a natural at being a pirate and as pointed out, she was the bloody Pirate King! What Pirate King isn't a pirate?! I don't think even the brat could've stopped her from sailing if they had done it right. Also, there seemed to be (at least to me) much more development with Sparrabeth than *you know what*, and *you know what* seemed forced to me. I dunno, just a feeling I get (and not just because I ship Sparrabeth). Maybe cause he was gone half of the time?... I forgot what other movie did this. They went with the "safer" suitor option and it made that movie suck.

Imo they couldn't make Sparrabeth happen because the target audience (mostly young boys, especially at the beginning) wouldn't have liked more romance in the movies. I think it's a stupid way of thinking, but when I was younger and the first movie had just come out my male friends were really not into the "love story" part of it.

It was obvious throughout the movies she didn't want to be a typical (for the time) housewife and mother, she wanted to be free and do what she wanted. Sticking her down on land was the worst they could have done to her.
