PIOsolver Analysis TRITON POKER EDITION: LLinusLove versus Ike Haxton

Ойындар

We're back, baby.
LLinuslove. Ike Haxton. Two of grandmasters of the game go at it in a $2k/4k/8k straddle game with an ante, sitting at a table alongside Trueteller, Jungleman, and the king Tony G.
It's a seemingly innocent hand, but I learned a lot taking the time to look at what optimal play looked like from street to street. Linus should check back the turn with the nut flush draw? Ike should check-raise the river 20% of the time? Crazy stuff!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Is there any changes on raising frequencies on the river if Haxton would have overbet here? Instinctively I am thinking that he maybe he can save money by betting bigger on the river

  • @MrRickyt88
    @MrRickyt882 жыл бұрын

I think it bets the biggest on 7-9 type turn cards simply for protection and since lower card board give players with overcards more outs and opportunities to call.

My2cent is that we do overbet the offsuit 7-8-9-T more often bec this card gives a lot of new middling strength hands to vilain. Also a lot of our TP/OP needs protection and benefits to deny equity but wont be able to do it without increasing the sizing. That is because a lot of hands will have SDV + GSSD(or better draw). At least it is the way I read the spot. Thanks for the good content 😉

For the question about the 7 or 8 turn. I think this is because Ike should fold mostly 7x and 8x after the flop bet (and float more with higher cards) while Llinus should mostly bet those 7x and 8x (and mostly check with higher cards)? The overbet range then probably also carries all the other flush draws right? Why not the 7c or 8c? Probably because this will get more calls from Ike.

Hey Alvin, I was wondering why you chose to analyse the bet sizes on the flop that you did - why not include a 1/3rd pot size for example? Is it to do with the board texture? Or the positions of the players? Maybe a combination of both?

  • @AlvinTeachesPoker

Yes, just off-handedly I assume that this is generally a larger bet-size type of texture. :)

@AlvinTeachesPoker at 9:50 the PIOsolver has us calling ALL suited AT not just the nut flush. This looks like a mistake or am I reading this incorrectly?

Yeah it's just a bluff catcher by the river so it'll probably never value raise, and it's too strong to bluff with then possibly fold. Also Ike sized up the river in a spot where you expect him to have some flushes, so he's a little overrepped though with this hand he still needs to call.

  • @belgianbeerpokercoach376

About the fact that Linus should just call ATs river i think it comes from the fact that Linus blocks a lot of the middle flushes of Isaak with the Td. On top of that you ask Pio to river-shove against the Isaak's probet and not raise 1/2 of his remaining stack. This modify the MDF of Isaak and because the board is paired, value shoving ATdd might become a bit too thin. I wouldnt be surprise that Linus find him self not shoving A8dd for the same reason.

For hands with mixed strategies, you will always have absolutely no difference in EV between different actions. If you run pio long enough you will always get zero which is easy to explain from GTO perspective.

Maybe we overbet because 7 or 8 gives Ike equity that we want to deny and the only nuts are 54 that he should C/R flop with? I mean 7 or 8 does not change much in terms of made hands but gives some gutshots to Ike and we also maybe fold some of the flushdraws or Ax hands if we overbet?

  • @jakobschmidt5855

An Argument for overbetting the 7,8,9,T turns: Out main Advantage comes from the overpairs JJ-AA. On Higher cards (at least K, Q) we have less combinations of overpairs that are comfortably betting huge. Since Ike will hit TP Sometimes. And on the A the solver seems to prefer putting Ike in a tough Spot with his weak pairs, draws and floats vs. getting max value from his FDs, and stronger Pairs I dont know, its really weird. Ike will also hit a decent amount of 6x 2p especially on a 7 and 8 Turn.

  • @JonathanMooretufts

I think Linus should overbet more frequently on the 7 because Ike's range doesn't contain much 54, but Linus's range does. Linus can overbet to attack Ike's capped range.

We overbet 7 or 8 turn, because we represent all of the sets, while our opponent doesnt. Also it's very high EV against all draws or overpair. Did i get it? :D

Why isn't that true of say, jj or qq but extra true of 7x? Why is that 7x gives us less equity than Jx but we want to overbet more? I honestly don't know!

@@AlvinTeachesPoker Oh, i missread pre-flop action. Maybe it's because on a 7, we have ALOT of overpairs, and they all benefit greatly, by putting pressure on a range with many weaker pairs and draws. We probably get more calls on 7,8, rather than Q,J, because those cards are quite scary for OOP player, and you end up getting more fold (less value calls)

@@AlvinTeachesPoker could it be because big part of our range will be overpairs 88-AA which can overbet on 7x turn but makes no sense on Ax, yet they still want to bet for protection/value ? at least 77-JJ, maybe not so much QQ KK on Ax turn? So we also want to include stronger hands in smaller sizing to protect that part of our range?

@alvinteachespoker i guess... 7h on turn, left Ike with only 2 combos of top2, and a few of 74s and 75s which did not c/r the flop, he is not having any 73s.... weakens ike top range, so huge FE on this especific turn with a overbet

@@AlvinTeachesPoker With the specific sizing used, Ike shows up with JJ more often than one might expect on first blush. Ike also bets a lot of flushes that contain the Td with this size and Ike's betting TTd very often as well. Given that AdTd blocks a lot of those flushes and it blocks TTd, it increases the probability that Ike is holding JJ. It's a weird spot, because Ike is only betting with this size around 5% of the time, but the composition of that range makes holding the Td unfavorable for a raise.

Its in Euro which is worth more than Dollars (1 Euro gets you about $1,10). You may be confusing with the Triton cash games playing in Hong Kong Dollars, in that case you would get about 8 HKD for every Dollar.
