So the other night we had a storm and the power went out and came back on a minute later. Went to watch tv thru my PIONEER Elite SC25 receiver and receiver would not come on, just the flashing MCACC red light. Researched online and couldn't find anything till on found your video. Gave it a shot and low and behold, heard a click and powered on. Just saved me $$$.Thank you

My VSX-S520 is also stuck in safe mode. This model does not have any front panel buttons. The manual shows combination of buttons to hold on the remote, but that does not work. Will really appreciate any tips.

My device is model XC_HM_71K. Thankful . I checked on this device and the power and input buttons must be held at the same time.

Maybe I can add something, after starting it again (thanks to the release mode), I noticed a condensator (100uF - 400V) was swollen in the main supply board, I replaced it. I might avoir having the error again. Thanks

From the service manual: During Standby mode, simultaneously press and hold the "AUTO SURROUND/STREAM DIRECT" key on the main unit for 5 seconds and press the "DVD" key on the remote control simultaneously.

pioneer VSX-1020 pqls flashing--- Had no problems over past 11 years until the past couple of weeks. We now have a repeatedly shuts down and the blinking PQLS red light and will not power on. But when I power unplug and re-plug there is click in sound which show it was ON but only show blinking PQLS red light nothing else. I tryed all speaker and HDMI unplug but same as it is.

Worked for my VSX-1130 as far as the blinking light goes, display said power on, then something blew inside and it started smoking. Don't know if it's a cheap fix or I just go out and buy a new receiver. My unit is 5 years old.

Could be anything. On the bright side it should make it easier to find the damaged component as it is probably visibly burnt. Just depends what it is and whether any other components are damaged. First time I've heard of this happening, but I guess it shows that in this case the protection mode triggered due to an actual fault

Sclx58 here we have no multi zone on off button and I can't find how to find the release mode button combination for it. So frustrating! However I have to unplug it overnight for it to release. Even after an hour unplugged it doesn't work, its literally 5+ hours

Can't see a service manual available for this one online, so don't know what the button combination would be. But, if it's happening repeatedly it suggests there is a real problem and will likely need to be diagnosed and repaired

I've got this Pioneer VSX920K receiver that when try and turn on by the on/standby button, it turns on and then straight off again. On the display just says "power on" then turns off. By pushing the "multi zone on/off" bottom does the same thing. All I get at the moment is the PQLS light flashing. I have tried the reset function for this model by pressing the "Tune ⬇" and the "Multi Zone on/off" buttons together for 5s and nothing happens. I have even tries other models reset function and they don't work either. Have got any ideas as to what else it could be? That would be great. Thanks

According to the service manual it's detecting an issue with the power supply to the D-Main assembly. Here's a link to the service manual for the vsx1020 - it's basically the same as the 920. www.manualslib.com/manual/1385192/Pioneer-Vsx-1020-K.html?page=40#manual The D-Main assembly is the large circuit board, the first one you see when you take off the cover (with the HDMI ports attached to it). I would inspect this board for any obvious damage, like burnt or damaged components. Otherwise the issue is likely with either the power supply board (the board at the very bottom of the unit), or the voltage regulators which you can just see attached to the bottom of unit, in between the amplifier board and the rear circuit boards

I am not a technician so any talk of power supply boards or voltage regulators has me reaching for my credit card and searching for a replacement amplifier. Fixing something this old just isn't worth it. If it involves some sort of reset or quick and cheap fix then I would love to know. If not can you recommend a decent quality replacement?

Bad news Vince, get that credit card ready as this one is unfortunately not an easy fix. As for a new amp, I honestly have no idea. My main unit is a Yamaha RX-V683 which I've been very happy with but it all depends what features you require, and your budget of course

According to the service manual for the vsx330: Simultaneously holding the [ADVANCD SURROUND] and [STANDBY/ON] keys on the front panel pressed for 2 seconds will cancel Key Input Inhibition mode after a DC error detection and turn the unit ON

Hi, I have the same problem with 2 Pioneer receivers, the VSX-924-k comes on after doing release code displays says Power On and then Amp Err and switches off and light flashes again. The VSX-923-k after release code display says Power On then TV and switches off and light flashes again. I was wondering if the error messages Amp Err and TV are in fact an indication to the fault. Any help would be much appreciated.

Best bet would to search online for the service manuals for those particular models. But it sounds like a much more complex fault that a reset won't fix

Sorry can't help with that one. Only thing I can suggest is trying different combinations, unless you can find the service manual

I did find the manual online and it said to press and hold 'auto/direct + standby' buttons but nothing happened...it just kept clicking and flashing red between MCACC & Network. .... thinking at this point it might be fried, or stuck halfway through a software/firmware upgrade

Hi. I came home after being away for a week to find the MCAA flashing on my VSX930. No response with remote or the units power button. Tried your fix and the power came on but immediately disappeared and back to flashing MCAA again. I can't any other resources for a fix. Any ideas what might be going on?

Sounds like something on the amplifier board has shorted. Not a simple fix if you're not used to working on electronics 🙁

Sorry mate, not sure on that one. Usually it's just a combination of two buttons, and one of them seems to always be the power or enter button, might just have to try out a bunch of combinations

A repair shop will likely just replace full circuit boards rather than just single components. Not sure what the D-Main board actually costs but it would be a lot more than just a single component. I doubt it would be worth repairing

Sounds like a bad solder joint, you may be able to force something to happen by giving it a good old slap on the top or side. If it comes on or goes off after hitting it then it's definitely a bad joint. Otherwise perhaps something is overheating and forcing some kind of safety mechanism to shut off power

Not sure about this one. You could try holding band and on/off on the front panel for 5 seconds, that may force a reset

Wondering where to find the button combination but having no luck online

doesnt work with my VSX 1029, i have tried all the "fixes" out there nothing works.

My vsx 922 is not responsive only shows FL OFF flushing red how to fix it

The VSX 1122 manual says "The ADVANCED MCACC blinks and the power does not turn on: The receiver may have a serious problem. Do not try switching the receiver on. Unplug the receiver from the wall and call a Pioneer authorized independent service company."Cant reset it or there is no button combination :( Any help?

According to the LX81 service manual: During Standby mode, simultaneously press and hold the "(DOWN)" and "ZONE2 ON/OFF" keys for 2 seconds.

@@Sawickipedia I had the same problem with my LX81. For me, it only worked when I first pressed and held "(DOWN)" and waited 1 second before pressing the "ZONE 2 ON / OFF" key and then waited for 2 seconds.

I have the same model (VSX-924). Try to hold down the TUNE down button and the MULTI-ZONE - ON / OFF button for 5 seconds and it should come on.

i did this and it powers on in just 3secs and back to flashing mcacc
