Small vise grips are a much better idea than wirecutters to grab hold of stripped screws like a set screw.

Just picked up a slightly worn out looking 512 which actually has antiskating... I'm going to guess later models had a fitted. Looking forward to refurbish it with assistance for this video, thanks!

I have the PL-512X which does have anti-skate, I assumed the 'X' denoted the base colour (mines black) but maybe it denotes anti-skate included. 🤷‍♂️

Actually the 514’s tonearm is quite different and includes anti-skate. The plinth looks similar, but the 514’s is more open to accommodate the the guts. They both, however, suffer from the same collapsing feet. I’ve replaced mine. I think it would have been interesting for you to tell us what you would replace them with… because, as you say, it’s crucial due to motor vibration. What product do you think would be a good candidate for this? Any original donor feet will eventually suffer the same fate.

Anyone watching this know how to increase the lift of the tonearm? Mine does not fully rise up nor drop completely down. As a result, taller carts will not cue.

How would you get parts for a Marantz TT140. Looking at 3D printing a few. This looks very close to it.

very informative video and much appreciated, two questions, are there any generic or aftermarket stands that you recommend to replace collapsed feet with? and second is the stroboscope was it printed or bought and on what kind of illumination does it accurately reflect 33 and 45 tt speeds? thanks again and keep on lubricating in the free world 😝

Turntable guy, you mentioned getting a new rubber mat for the Pioneer PL 512. Where do get your parts? I just found one in a second hand shop for $5.00. I’m looking to service it for my wife for her vintage David Bowie albums. Any suggestions you can provide will be most appreciated.

Turntable Guy, greetings from Guayaquil - Ecuador. First of all, congratulations for your excellent channel on KZread. I need your indispensable help. I have a Pioneer PL-512, like the one shown in the video. the problem is that when i put the hug at the beginning of the record i feel like it tugs or pulls towards the center...it's light very light but it makes the needle jump a few grooves and then it stabilizes and works well until the end. What is the screw that I should tighten or loosen to correct this fault. I thank you in advance for your kind attention and I look forward to your comments.

@@TurntableGuy Dear Turntable Guy thaks so much for the orientation. set the anti-skate one notch higher than the tracking force is. I greatly improve the response of the arm and the needle stopped jumping when entering the record. I will keep it under permanent observation in case it becomes uncalibrated again. Thanks again for the light in the dark
