This is why Mojaxx is currently the best reviewer out there IMO: New shiny DJ stuff, like Pioneer DJ's DDJ-1000SRT, comes out and literally, every DJ vlog is struggling over each other to be the first with a "review", typically based on only a few hours of inhouse fumbling with the equipment. Not so much for this channel. Mojaxx will typically only do a first impression and then test it out for months in a live club environment. Which results in stand-out excellent reviews that provide in-depth product feedback details, which you simply cannot find on any other DJ channel. Keep up the good work!

Yes! I saw the leaked pictures on Reddit! So glad to know that it's very real!!! Too bad about the standard Fx Layout that all serato DJ controllers had. But I imagine it won't be a huge loss for those who are used to using the Mixer's FX.

Not really. I have my MC 7000 just over 3 years now and I'm still excited about what Denon built here. Solid as a tank and full of features. As I see it, Pioneer has taken with the DDJ 1000 SRT only something old and re-packaged it, associated with advertising :-) So you get the warehouse empty ;-) If the jog wheels are not important or various effects from Pioneer or the Mag.Fader, then not worth an upgrade! An innofader in the MC 7000 and the job is done :). What brings me the Serato Suite with all the Serato effects, if I can not control them with the controller. Also missing is the needle search. a really good feature... When you buy a MC 7000 you also get 3 serato packs for your money. The price performance ratio is not right for the DDJ 1000 SRT. Pioneer just sells old technology :-)

Bro, you're just A BEAST in this industry. Been a big fan of yours for years so thanks for this info. I got my DDJ-1000 back in early 2018 and I LOVE IT....EXCEPT....well, I didn't like the fact that Rekordbox was not compatible with my external hard drive (Mac OS formatted) so I had to get my music to a FAT32 formatted hard drive. That shit sucked! Anyway, I hope that my Mac OS hard drive can be read by this one since its using Serato DJ Pro software - if so, then I'll retire my "Ole Bessy" - my DDJ-SX2. She's been my best controller and held me down for soooo lonnnggg. Lastly - you know what would be GREAT??!! If..."SRT" actually means...."Serato...Rekordbox...Traktor". This thing would KILL THE GAME if all platforms could play on it. But for now, I'm just gonna stick with my DDJ-1000 and my Traktor S5. Great review mate! Peace ✌🏿🎶

There really needs to be a Pioneer DDJ-800SRT for those of us who use Serato and have no use for 4 channels, I do not want to pay the extra money for 2 channels I would never use and the extra size 4 channels require does not appeal as it makes the unit less portable. If Pioneer can make a 1000SRT it probably would not be difficult to produce the 800 Serato version and offer a wider product range.

Mo, thanks for the comprehensive review. I just spent a few hours on my newly purchased SRT and it’s really quite nice. The hardware mixer enables minimal cpu hit, so I can run ableton in the same laptop with no hiccups in sync. I do have a question. On the SC5000 prime models you could run slicer loop mode with no actively playing track (meaning I have a selected loop but the track is not playing) and each “slice” could be triggered intermittently. I used that mode constantly to fly through remixes. This box will only trigger sounds when the selected loop is playing. Do you know of a setting, hack or update pending which could address this? It seems small, but I really loved this feature on the Denon rig. Thanks in advance!

No Artwork! I never owned a controller before and contemplated briefly about this until I heard Mojaxx say you can't see artwork displayed on each jog wheel center display. I'm a bit old-school because I still pick tracks like pulling sleeves in a crate of records or CD box but using Serato by looking at the artwork. Doing this method of visual selection I feel each song by seeing it and pick it much quicker than reading text in any crate. Since I'm a visual selector using a computer is still fine for display needs and I'll stick to DVS for the feel and control. Serato & Pioneer didn't go all the way with these DDJ-1000SRT. Maybe next time they'll figure it out or a firmware update...

Dude, you're really gonna use jog displays to crate dig via artwork? Do you use a magnifying glass with that? Just like waveform display on that is silly. BPM display is finally a nice option and does put it in a nice spot for less staring at the laptop when mixing. I hope it stays simple and maybe the next gen with USB-C (3.1) connections with plenty of extra overhead will add in other stuff.

Has anyone tried to fit a ddj-1000srt in the pioneer djc-sc5 bag to see if it will fit in real-life? Only an actual attempt will answer this! ;) (BTW. The width of the 1000 srt is 4.4 cm wider than the sx2/sx3 units that the djc-sc5 soft bag was made for; and the heights and depths of both ddj units are approx the same - but maybe IN REAL-LIFE the 1000srt WILL fit in the djc-sc5 soft bag?) (I want to see if I'll have to buy another bag too if i buy the 1000 srt - or if I can use the one I have) ;)

ONLY do that if you're controller user only, and always bring your own controller to your gigs. The jog wheels are very different free spinning things that are so different from Pioneers jog wheels that I doubt I will ever be able to use them properly. There's a bunch of stuff not working properly/satisfying, Serato use still one of them, so bringing this to an important gig is out of question. Garden party with your friends at most. If they work out all software kinks 'n' bugs, and get the Engine Prime to work properly, in time it can be a great DJ tool. Unfortunately if you are thinking of it as a pro tool now, it is not. I will keep mine for a few more weeks to learn what I can, because the manual doesn't cover all of it, for possible future needs. First impressions were so bad that I haven't even looked at it for a week... It is a complicated power house, not an intuitive precision tool. I sold my 6 year old CDJ-2000 Nexus to cover the cost for buying this unit, because I needed something cheaper and easy to set up when my NXS2 setup is way overkill. I'll probably get myself a XDJ-700/DJM-450 combo instead. A little more expensive, less features, but still all I need and I know it will work just as expected. Denon DO work hard to get this unit up to peoples expectations and they reached out to me after posting on the P 4 forum. That is unusual and shows their interest, so in time... If that's good enough for you, and you have the time, get one.

@@matthewbohn765 As I said, it depends on what you come from, heaven or hell. I guess you're fine withe the shitty jogs and playing with only vinyl mode, which I'm not. I need the horizontal wave forms at the same time I need a proper browse window where I can see more than half the file name of the 7 songs I can see now, waiting for them to scroll to see the other half, just like the old CDJ-2000's. I don't need the power when there's no precision. I have my music perfectly sorted and will not change my routines or workflow. I just wanted a really good pro tool, easy to use. I set my cue points on the fly where I need them to be song for song all depending on how I'm going to mix in/out the tracks. For that I depend on the stutter when NOT in vinyl mode and it's not there, making it impossible to hear where the first frame is when there's a lot of sounds around that beat in a noisy club environment, even using my headphones. I come from 10 years of using real vinyl in the 80's 90's. Vinyl mode has nothing to do with playing real vinyl and is just an effect mode for me. The first 8 years with CD's there were no vinyl mode, and even then it took a few years before I could afford a set of players that had that and by then CDJ mode is what I use. Again, it depends on what you come from.

Warning, this device has a design flaw by Pioneer. The two headphone inputs, rest on the edge which immediately faces the DJ’s hip or waist (as well as other bodies) which move past the plug, risking bending or breakage. I personally feel the headphone inputs should of been placed by Pioneer on either the controller’s top or rear. The edge which faces the DJ should be smooth, as a busy DJ shouldn’t worry about constantly banging and bumping the headphone plug. Expect damage to both your headphone plug and input socket, if you plan on using this device, regularly. On occasion, I’ll bump the headphone jack and the entire controller slides!

Two very different worlds. This is ready-for-the-road and aimed at DJ's playing regularly on club standard gear, the Prime 4 is not. I have the Prime 4 and I'm utterly disapointed. It probably will be road ready some time in the future and it is a power house... A reliable intuitive precision tool it is not. I normally play 15-17 gigs/month, on my gear or what's installed in the club, and 3-4 times/month I bring my own gear. On important jobs I bring my NXS2 setup, but when that is overkill, I believed the P 4 would be a good alternative, and no, it's not. Maybe in time, but I can't wait. When I buy tools for work, I need them now. I'll keep it for a while to learn everything about it, and then sell it to get something I can use out of the box. Disapointed ? Yes $2000 worth and a lot of valuable time spent.

@@doctormasterdevil There is a few key functions that has been on all pro DJ gear since the first CDJ's showed up in 1993. One of them is CDJ-mode, where you hear a stutter, frame by frame. Makes it easy, even in a noisy environment to always set the cue point on the fly on the exact same frame every time. This has been the same on all Denon and Pioneer gear, and most other brands too. Last time I used a Denon was 6-7 years ago, the DN-1200, and since then it's all been Pioneer. But, if I get the expected basics I'm used to, I can perform. For some reason Denon only provided Vinyl mode and one half ass vinyl mode that turns off the touch on the platter but still pauses the music silent, just as in vinyl mode, without stutter. Utterly stupid! That alone makes this unit a brick for me. I could learn or get used to most of all the other stuff, but not that. The DN-1200's were not very good players, but I'd rather use them and burn CD's for my next gig than use the Prime 4.

@@jonathanvillalobos7994 The company is what I talk about :) . As all company's in the world, everything they do is for money of course. They have 1000's of employees who want to get their money every month and keep their job and not get laid off. I have worked for a company who'd been in business for 50 years and the 2 years I was there were 2 of the best years in that company's history. A year after I quit for military duty, the company was bankrupt and all the employees had lost their jobs... Their products still live and will for many years to come, but the projects I was involved with was the last that company ever made. To seek every possible way to make money and to have long term satisfied customers is the duty of every company board. For the owners, the employees and the customers sake. Something to celebrate, in my opinion. I have been a Pioneer gear user since the start in 1994, and have been very satisfied with every product since. Depending how much I 've been playing I've had to go for what my wallet allow me to, but everything I've invested in still works today. I haven't changed that much in the basics of how I play since the time I played vinyl, just added a few trick new tech allows for. I'm not a purist, but I do appreciate when the mixing is done clean and the music is the highlight of a DJ's work, not the mixing itself. You can see that on my channel :) . The live ones are really boring to watch unless you know what I'm really doing, because if you can't hear it, I'm very happy. Perhaps I am a kind of purist, ha ha.

I have the Prime 4... What a waste of money. I really believed they'd done something useful this time, and after waiting 6 month, I get a piece of half done, buggy, shitty interface where I have more info on a 10 year old CDJ-2000 screen, and 3 times as much useful info on a 7'' RX2 screen than on this. Not to mention the free spinning jog wheel and non existing CDJ mode, no RGB wave forms and commands for changing view you have too search on KZread to find. Engine Prime has a horrible workflow and seeing all the daily problems owners have on the P 4 forum increases by the day. I make my living in the DJ Booth, and I haven't seen a single Denon device in any venue or club yet, except for when my friend and Denon rep brings his own gear. The only good thing I can say about Denon is that they really are working hard to get things right, and they do reach out to people in the forums that have problems to see what's possible to fix and what to prioritize. Have you seen Pioneer lowering prices or get competing gear out in a hurry? Nope, and this is why. If you come from a crappy controller to the Prime 4, you're in heaven, I'm sure. If you are an every-day-user of club-standard gear with a tight workflow and 100% rely on working gear, you're in hell. About quality and layout, the Prime 4 almost got broken the first minute I had it, just another big sigh. All the pioneer gear I have since the mid 90's work just perfect, and yeah, the DJM-300 don't have the best sound quality. It's actually really bad... but from the DJM-800 to my NXS2 there's pretty good to fantastic sound, and there's other parts of most sound systems that is way worse. About lowering the price... Short term fantastic for new customers, long term disaster for existing customers. Having a firm price policy is the only way to get satisfied long term customers. That's why I could finance my P 4 by selling my 6 year old CDJ-2000 Nexus's. If the gear doesn't hold it's value over the time the average user has it, no one's gonna buy it unless they're gonna keep it forever. I'm already worried that Denon is going to drastically lower the price on the P 4, so I'm in a hurry to sell it. Interested?
