Why not make the controller play BOTH Serato and Rekordbox like the controllers of 3 years ago?

The only reason Pioneer came out with this version because of the high demand for Serato users. I am certain this will be the last time they will do this.

No! The true is Pioneer telling you that if you want to buy their equipment, you will need to use their software. Like the Denon Prime 4. You have to use their Engine software to play their controller. Serato Users: Don' t expect Pioneer to do this again. They will not! This was a one shot deal. Going forward either use Rekordbox and get another controller.

Nice comparison. If that helps, both controllers are supported in VirtualDJ (actually the SRT was just added to the new VirtualDJ 2020)..

Things i really miss after switching from the original DDJ-1000 to the SRT are the Beat FX in Rekordbox (sad face) but Serato's Pitch 'n Time make the sound quality superior, especially when scratching

If they had added the serato effect knobs from the sx and sz they would have made the best serato controller on the market

I agree but the whole point of this controller is to mimic a nexus cdj set up (which doesn’t have serato effects) so they kept is the same so you can get a club feel, and learn how to use on board effects

I have it imo the pioneer hardware fx blow Serato’s out of the water. Also software fx use cpu hardware fx don’t. Serato’s echo sounds like trash compared to pioneers industry hardware fx. Just being honest.

My issues.. 1. You have to press shift to use loop functions, 2. serato software effects arent postfader 3. the fader adjustments have to be done on the software, no hardware adjustments 4. No flip option 5. the hardware effects have to be selected one at a time and per channel

which controller would you suggest that has all those functions?

It certainly would have been better if you could switch between Serato & Rekordbox on the same DDJ-1000 Controller, instead of being locked to one or the other. I would choose the DDJ-1000SRT and then buy the Pioneer DDJ-XP1 pad controller to get a Rekordbox license and to add pads too and also buy Traktor Pro 3 to play with 3 software packages. To expand the setup you could buy a pair of Pioneer XDJ1000Mk2 or Denon SC5000 or a pair of turntables like the Reloop RP8000Mk2 and even Phase Essential wireless DVS controllers. You may even be able to have 2 DJs sharing the same controller and synced with Ableton Link on Serato or Traktor sets

All the Serato controllers works on the other software, even Rekordbox. They don't want to lose the sells from the Rekordbox controllers. Thats why they stop making Serato controllers just to make you use Rekordbox. That RZX should've been the SZX. The CDJ Nexus platters should've been on the SZ2. You can't put skinz on the SZ or SZ2 platters because they are heat sensitive. Watch Pioneer make the SZ3, it will be the RZX with the 1000srt platters.

I'm sorry, I don't want to misguide you. The Serato DDJ-1000 SRT is the only Serato controller that doesn't work with Rekordbox.

The mixer works as a stand-alone mixer, wouldn’t the soundcard work with Rekordbox and Traktor? The jog wheels and pads may be Serato only or can you midi map some of those to work outside of Serato?

@@richardwilliams1310 The mixer is standalone on both units so you could use it with Trakor / Serato using eternal CDJs and a DVS box.

not sure why a firmware option couldnt be implemented so 1 unit, firmware for either RB or SRT. I dont use a controller but seems sense to me.

I'm kind of tempted to try rekordbox now.....

10 months ago I switched to Rekordbox after 8 years of Serato. In no way do I miss anything about it.

Well i bought one a month ago and i can definately say that the product you get is absolutely amazing. Dj products dont have this early old feeling like mobile phones, perfect example is the cdj 2000nxs2 it looks modern and it is modern even its from 2011. I am a tech house dj and i abolutely love how easy it is to mix with 4 decks. I cant tell you if it is the best Rekordbox controller i think thats more a personal opinion however for the money i would definately rank it into the best 4 deck controllers

The air horn is not working on my 1000 srt. Any idea how to make it work? On my ddj 800 I play the air horn by pressing on the sampler button. On my ddj 1000 srt when I press the sampler button the air horn doesn’t work.

Why didn't they just make it all DJ software compatible in the first place? Many like myself, use both Serato & RekordBox! With interest in others. Heard RekordBox has more capabilities/features with this controller than the Serato version.

@@djkit my mistake. Only the SX2 can but, Virtual DJ can work with the SX3. So, not necessarily locked. I'm sure the contract will end with Serato & then it'll be RB compatible. It'd be nice to know when that'll happen.

If you change the color of the platters in SDJ Pro like yellow or green, would the screens on the SRT change to reflect the colors?

The DDJ-1000 is now officially compatible with VDJ, yes!

The SRT version looks quite a bit cheaper with the silver plasticy looking faders and the ring around the jog wheel, even tho that's on the CDJ's I think it looks better without it.

I think its the other way round. The silver adds a nice premium touch and contrast effect. The normal 1000 has too much black imho.

Newbie question.. this SRT device only uses Serato if you want to use with laptop, you cannot use Rekordbox - why?? I want the options of using any software with a DJ controller. Disappointing you cant choose. i would assume you could use either software with the mixer. So the question - can you can export to USB from either Serato or Rekordbox and plug in USB and it would work, or is it just Serato too via USB? Looking to move up from Traktor s4m2.. and confused!

I have a question. Is it possible for the SRT DDJ 1000 to be used in rekordbox as well? Or is it locked to Serato DJ only? Sorry if stupid question, thanks!

No, it only works with Serato!

Using the DDJ 1000 Rekcordbox and the DM 40 studio monitors via RCA cable, the audio suddenly gets disconnected from both the speakers and the headphones every 20-30 minutes. What could cause this?

As it is in both the headphones and the speakers, it could be a dodgy USB cable. Try using a new one and let us know if it works!

Im facing prblm of low volume output through external speakers also red light pops up in each song for both master and channel Im using ddj 800 with hp spectre x360 I have downloaded the latest version of rekordbox and Latest audio drivers for it I also have ddj 1000 srt n it sounds great I want to know that is it my controller prblm or laptop of its thr matter of software Plzz help me sir Im not using the youtube rips i play wav files from beatport And when i play 128 kbps mp3 on ddj 1000 srt it sound best then my wav files on rekordbox with ddj 800 Plz let me know👍🏻🙏

05:30 You are speaking of using turntables. You should also mention that the built-in phono preamps in DDJ-1000 are not suited to play analog vinyl. The sound quality is a nightmare / joke. It was also admitted by the Pio officials in their forum that the preamps are just for digital signals (timecode). I don't know if the 1000SRT has different preamps. If those are the same as in DDJ-1000 then this statement also applies to it.

@ djkit. honestly take another listen when you play your vinyl as an analogue set. it sound horrid!..the highs are distorted and the mids are screeching. its bad bad bad. fix is to use 2 external phono to line converters. sound is now clear and crisp like it should be....is like night vs day! bit of a ball ache but its worth it.

Cyber monday came up and im looking for a laptop for my ddj1000. Question is...do i need a usb 2.0 port because the ddj-1000 manual says a usb 2.0 port is needed. Someone told me it should work fine on a usb 3.0 port laptop and another person said i need a usb 2.0 hub to get it to work? Whats your expert advice?

Jimmy Peralta usb 2.0 is the minimum that these controllers need. Anything above that will work and most new laptop are usb 3 and above, so don’t worry.

No, the mixer is standalone. So you don't need a laptop plugged in to it when you're using external CDS or turntables plugged in to the channels.

So, the Magvel Fader on the original DDJ-1000 isn't the same as the SRT???

With the built in DDJ 1000 and the DJS1000SRT controllers, do you have the ability to apply the effects to a frequency? In the DJM 900 NXS 2 you can apply the echo affects to the (low, mid and high frequency)?

I like the Pioneer 1000- I think Pioneer control board are too close you need space make it longer

You could tell they want to add a little bit extra stuff For you could pay extra for the program

This is the equivalent of 2 old people arguing which language is better. French or English. The answer to this would be serato making an equivalent hardware (similar to the ddj 1000s) to superimpose its own software.

It's a shame that you have never seen or heard a live performance by a highly talented DJ \ producer which would have 100% changed your 🧠 ! Next time you have a chance go and 💸💳💰 a ticket to see a and dance at a show where the dj uses that "confusing thing" and creates magic right before your 👀 📞

Pioneers gamed the fuck out of serato users with those bigger jogwheels than the sx line. If youre getting this for the jogwheels and/or to prepare for CDJs , AND you already own a capable 4 channel serato controller - keep the controller, get a used CDJ and hook it up to your controller mixer if and you can get CDJ practice, have bigger scratching platters, and have all the features of your controller. All other 4 channel serato units can do so much more and allow you to be more creative. Pioneer is getting too comfortable with their market position and it shows with their recent half ass products like the 1000srt and the CDJ 3000 which are supposed to be "industry standard"...yea standard maybe for 40 year olds

I think I'm going to exchange the SRT for DDJ 1000.

@@djkit I already turned in my SRT for the 1000. I like the display screen. I tend to focus on what I'm doing with my record hand and fader. The color screen plus the wave forms will allow me focus less on my laptop. The colorful screen looks better than the plain Serato screen. Also this will be my first time using Rekordbox. Wish me luck.

Anthony levy theres a silver outline on the SRT which gives the illusion of larger jogs be ause you can see the edge. The original is all black so its harder to distinguish the border. Hope that makes sense

You get the full serato license, independent of the software...but it's for a limited time. After it goes away, it will just cost more, lol.

Because Pioneer own Rekordbox, they don't have to charge for that software on the 1000, but they have to pay a fee for the Serato licenses so the SRT is more expensive to cater the cost their end.

primary reason Iv not bought this is because they don't just make 1 that works with both software's annoying to the point where you just wanna buy something else

@@kudamah Can't see pads on cdj900 or cdj2000 and all djs on main music events still using them. to be honest 99% of people will never use pads to play unless its some competition or 10 min mix witch 20 songs mixed in it on you tube, people in the club does not care what are you using if they enjoy the music I think Sweet Pus hit the point writing 'To much choice to much confusion just to play music to a bunch of drunks '. Same controller two softwares and you cant use one of them with other software. 15 years ago you could map anything to play with any dj software and then serato comes with its closed protocol opened to only serato controllers.

@@baniakrulez i feel u on that which is part of why i don't rock with serato. I still prefer to use VDJ for the same reason and more. But Pioneer could've easily made the same 1000 to work with Serato like they hv done with the SX series that is now usable with rekordbox. Guess they say a gold mine with the amount of demands they got for the SRT.

Its rip off that the controller wont work for both software

@@kudamah The best thing about Rekordbox is their library management. Everything else is either pretty good or ok. But I will amit that Rekordbox is doing very well, considering it hasn't been out very long.

@@djkit Only speaking as a turntables. I should've said turntablist, rather than scratch dj. The DVS on Rekordbox is good, bur you can tell it was put there as a "We also got this too". CDJs/XDJs are their main focus...
