PIONEER DDJ-REV1 BATTLE STYLE PERFORMANCE CONTROLLER/DJ GEAR REVIEWS/GEAR REVIEW #11

Музыка

Waddup fam?! I'm back with another gear review video. This time its on the DDJ-REV1 entry level scratch controller. Don't underestimate this controller. It holds its own with a lot of more expensive professional high end controllers like the RANE1. I actually break it down and compare it to the RANE1. I explain all the similarities and the differences between the two controllers. Check out the whole overview and see which controller comes out on top. Please don't forget to like, share and subscribe so i can keep making more of these videos for you guys. Until the next one... Peace

Do you agree with me or not? Either way the Rev1 is a better value controller in my books. What do you think?

I've been waiting for a scratch style controller for as long as controllers started to gain popularity. So happy this exists, can't wait to get one.

Thanks for watching and your comment. Honestly they are all great controllers. Its your personal preference on which one you are going to like but if you have a chance to test it out before you buy, thats the best way to find out.

I know the Rane One gets compared a lot to the Rev7 but it recently got a price cut and now it’s currently $1700 cad. Would you take the Rane One over REV5 which is currently $100 cheaper ? I feel like REV5 has way more features (dedicated stems, auto bpm transitions, etc).

Hmmm good choices in controllers. The only reason i would go for the Rev5 over the Rane1 in this situation is because the Rev5 is newer, has the dedicated stems buttons and more future proof. BUT i can't deny spinning platters as a personal preference so i'll stick with the rane one for now.

if you have experience with old school turntables then it should be easy. the rev1 its design as the turn tables (battle style). if you dont then its always nice to learn something new.

I have a rev1 and love it but first thing I thought is that it feels like a toy. Cross fader is crap. It works fine but it’s feel is not good. Like I said it feels like a plastic toy. Never used a rane1 but I’m sure it’s way better. That being said, like you said absolutely amazing for the price but serato light definitely puts a damper in it but the deck does unlock more features.

The cross fader is very clicky & loud i agree but still great for cutting. The Rane 1 is definetely built like a tank and that justifies the price. Gotta go with Serato pro though IMO

I have one . I like it cause its portable and doesnt require a power source. I am pairing it woth an ns4fx. Gonna do a ghetto rane 4 but I have 4 decks , 4 pitch control , 4 effect padal , smoking 16 performance pad and i can layer like a mad man. All for under 700. Versus 1600 And you still stuck with 2 deck two pitch control which absolutely suck.

Are you throwing shade because the rane one is American made🤔

  • @DjNinesworld

No shade at all bro. I actually love Ranes build quality & sound quality & overall its a great controller and does what its supposed to do and more. Its just the Rev1 does most of what the Rane1 does just without spinning platters and obviously the build quality is not the same too.

Even though I know how to scratch how is the mixing capability of the rev 1?

I respect you and your channel, but these 2 controllers are nowhere near comparable? RANE One gets compared to Rev7 fairly, but never to this toy REV1. I too own the RANE ONE and there are millions of differences between the two. RANE One is pro gear with pro inputs/outputs, pro platters, pro torque and motor, pro Akai pads, pro all metal construction tank build, and 75 other features that destroy the Rev1….Rev1 is cool for chill coffee table scratch sessions, but please don’t compare to the RANE one, you lose integrity when doing so.

  • @DjNinesworld

    @DjNinesworld

I agree with you on the Rane ONE being pro gear, way better build quality, better inputs/outputs....etc... Yes granted it is a PRO level controller comparitively to the Rev1. But you can't deny the facts that i mentioned on the similarities on the 2 controllers. You can get the same outcome with the REV1 and the RANE ONE but in a waaaay cheaper model. Thats what i was trying to stress in this video.

@@DjNinesworld only similarities I see between the 2 are, neither use onboard effects (which is a con for me), both are 2 channel controllers (capable of 4 deck) which I think is useless anyways. Most DJ’s don’t do 4 deck mixing. Things that separate these two controllers: RANE one has powerful sound card and power source, where the rev1 is BUS powered. USB powered is never better. Rev1 is literally “entry level” battle style controller, RANE one is essentially 2 turntables (mini RANE twelves). Rev1 uses Serato DJ LITE and you have to pay for DJ PRO if you wanna use that with rev1. Rev 1 pads are super entry level. If your a scratch DJ who grew up on turntables then the RANE one checks those boxes. The rev1 is basically a “niche” cool little practice device, would not recommend it for professional use. I’m gonna get the rev1, for its niche attractiveness and I’ll enjoy scratching on it, but it’s nowhere near the pro level of the RANE one. That was my point. It’s a $300 controller, it is what it is, but definitely NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR RANE ONE.
