It will gradually lose its pressure on the shield over time, therefore reducing its anti-fog abilities. The Shoei pinlock studs are offset, so if yours loosens off the shield and the pinlock and the shield are both till in good visible condition, rotate the pinlock studs from the inside of the shield to tighten them and increase the pressure on the pinlock to reseal it to the visor.

I usually wear open face helmet but decided to try a Shoei Neotec 2. Very helpful video! Is there any reason they don’t install the pinlock from the factory instead of having owners do it themselves?

the only reason i can see is they've been making the insert packaged separately for a while and want it replaceable, so they just stick to this to save them cost. it's still how they do it as the x15 i bought last year is the same deal yet.

I have the same model helmet. Inside the box it had the pinlock lens but it gets stuck every time I try closing the visor. It has the correct CWR-F markings on the packaging but am I missing something?

That's new to me? i def had a mismatch on things i had to rectify, but the shield should be closing no matter what. you might reach out to revzilla helpline. that's what i did, and they were very helpful to resolve. i never would've figured it out otherwise.

i was surprised too, but after i cleaned mine, it just never looked as clear to me, so i just replaced it.

Why did you have to get a new pinlock? Does it lose it's anti-fog abilities over time?

i'd never had an issue with one in the past, but for some reason, this one seemed like it had something between the pinlock shield and the main shield, so i took it off, cleaned both the pinlock and the main with some antifog shield cleaner, and it was never really clear again. Not sure why, but that's just what happened to me and why i replaced it.

Did your x-14 come with a pinlock insert? and if so, was it pre-installed? I just got mine and the salesman says it comes with it, but it really doesn't look like it's already installed and I certainly didn't see one in the box.

yes, mine came with the shield installed that had the two pins on it, and i don't recall if the pinlock lens was installed originally or if i had to install it and it was just in the box separately, but it all came together in one box. i made this video because i think i took it off, cleaned underneath it, and for some reason messed it up doing that, so i had to replace it. there are different variations though. even the ones with pinlock had at least two different pinlock replacement lenses. if you didn't get everything with it, you should probably get back to who sold it to you as you should've received it, and if not, return it and buy one from elsewhere that does have it included.

Yes so I found a few unboxing vidoes and in all of those, the pinlock insert was the first thing they took out of the box when it was opened. It looks like CycleGear just didn’t give me my pinlock insert so Ive opened a ticket with them. This is the 4th helmet with pinlock system Ive owned and in all of the previous helmets, I had to buy the inserts separately. However they were $300-500 helmets. The x-14 being a $800+ helmet, Im glad they included it. At first I was thinking maybe because it is a much more expensive helmet, that maybe the visor was such better quality that the pinlock insert was pre-installed and just blended in so good that it was hard to see. But after watching a bunch of videos like yours, I can see the pinlock I can see the pinlock insert very easily.

@@ogredev Keep an eye on that in future as well. Most helmets north of about $300 come with pinlocks nowadays. Double/triple check online when you're buying a helmet to see if the manufacturer includes a pinlock in the box,. Some retailers will hang on to them and then sell them for an extra profit.

@@NoLimitsNoRegrets yeah I gathered that. Just giving ogre the heads up to always check when they're buying a new helmet to make sure they're getting a pinlock if they come with one. All Shoei helmets come with a pinlock apart from the ones that don't need it like the MX helmets, Ex-Zero, J-O and J-Cruise
