On the original album, the vocals were sung by Claire Torry, someone local they brought in and paid 30 pounds and is an interesting story. Probably the biggest gig of her life and she didn't even know it at the time.

This song IS a vibe...it is a song without words. At the beginning there is a recording of a man saying he is not afraid of death.....Why should he be afraid? It happens to everyone...Then you have three stellar singers giving an emotional rendition of the stages of dying......showing fear, anger, grief ....and in the end, acceptance. Brilliant, challenging, and sometimes uncomfortable. Kudos to those singers.

My father took me to this concert at the age of 12, Earl's Court, London, and I shall never forget what I witnessed that night. He told me that we weren't going to listen to a concert, we were going to have an experience. Boy, the old fart wasn't wrong. What a lucky boy I was, although I didn't understand why there were all these old people about the place. I was raised on Floyd, Cream, John Mayal, Queen, and Zeppelin, but Pink Floyd stuck with me the most. At that age, I was in awe of the music and lacked the emotional intelligence to really appreciate their art but instinctively knew that there was something more to it, and every time I return to albums such as DSoTM and Wish You Were Here they take on new meaning. Granted, the studio versions are considered to be the ultimate listening experience but the live experience melted my prepubescent brain to mush. I dread to think what the lighting budget was. Although we have our differences these days, I will always be grateful to my father for sharing and introducing me to the music he loves so much. By the way, I encourage you to listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond parts I-V and parts VI-IX, another journey and story that will touch your soul and give you the chills, assuming that you haven't already. Thanks for sharing with us (thumbs up from me) and enjoy the journey. Much love.

This is good and interesting visually, but you really need to hear the studio version of this. In fact for most songs off of this album, do the studio versions first. You need to hear the original production. It actually makes you appreciate the live versions more when you see how well they're able to riplicate the amazing studio quality. This should be applied for all of their songs.

When experiencing a Pink Floyd song for the first time, ALWAYS listen to the album version first. Take it from a PF fan since the 70s, album first. This song followed "TIME" on the album, and the two are connected and should be experienced together for best appreciation. "THE WALL" is a story told through a series of songs, so that is definitely one you'll have a greater experience with if you listen to the full album. Yes, they did make a film for the album, but again, ALBUM FIRST! Trust me, my friend, I'm steering you right. Welcome to the fan club! ;)

If you're gonna do a whole PF album, it's best to cut it up into 2 and 3 song segments to avoid the copyright hassle. For example on the Dark Side of the Moon album: the first 3 songs, Speak to Me, Breathe (in the air), and On the Run in the first segment...Time and Great Gig in the Sky for the second...Money and Us and Them for the 3rd and finish it out with the last 3 songs Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage and Eclipse.

The song is supposed to represent the stages of grieving and death without words, the studio version was recorded by Clair Torey ( may have spelt her surname wrong) in 2.5 takes after which she put her cardigan on and went home. The live versions are usually taken by the backing singers ( 3 ) such is the quality of everything to do with Pink Floyd. There is no doubt that Clair’s version is a masterpiece. I do however think the live versions is equally good but for different reasons, eg at pulse concert they had to sing for about 1 hr before this track and another 1.5 hrs after this track.

If you want something from Pink Floyd even more meaningful try out "When the tigers broke free" which tells the story of Roger Waters loss off his father . It was originally written for the album The Wall but wasn't released until the album " The Final Cut " came out although a version was included in video featuring Bob Geldof ( from the Boomtown Rats ) before that titled The Wall

Dark Side of the Moon is a rock opera, a concept that became popular in this period. The songs on the album flow together with no real break except between songs on side 1 and side 2. To set the stage for this rock opera, the first song on side 1 contains snippets of songs that follow. The song preceding Great Gig is Time. Best way to listen to either gem is play them back to back as the album intends them to be played. Great Gig is last song on side 1 so there is a natural break at end of Great Gig as songs continue on side 2. This live version is good, but magic was made when Claire Tory entered the recording studio and improvised the vocals on Great Gig IN ONE TAKE. I suggest you wait to hear the album version of Great Gig when you decide to cover the entire album. Every song is great but my favorites from the album are Great Gig, Time, and Money.

Yes. Yes. Yes. The Wall, the movie. And Dark Side of the Moon as an album. Please. When you get to the end of Dark Side of the Moon, there's a little song called Eclipse. The lyrics are very rich. IMO, the moon is the ego, and the sun is God. I recommend you listen to eclipse with that metaphor in mind.

Normally I always prefer live versions over studio versions. But even though these vocalists and the ones at the «Delicate sound of thunder» tour does a great job, Clare Torry’s vocals is out of this world. Fitting for a song about dying. And she did it alone, first take. The piano part was made for a riot scene in a movie, but didn’t make it. Luckily.

High Hopes - a lot of people did that.. maybe you dont need to react, but check it out. SHeep - from animals album - top. few people did sorrow - pulse its the best free four - from the obscured by clouds careful with that axe eugene - i think anybody did that live version where gilmour has his shirt with the 62 and his name in it. Fucking crazy song green is the colour - theres an old live version where gilmuor is with some white/grey shirt ... nice song. few people did theres an album called "atom heart mother". and a song with "funky" in the name.. very blues. This album is strange but gold. theres a song called narrow way with 3 parts. THe 3rd is the best but the others are pure psycodelic anyway... im a huge fan of PF and I want to see people reacting to other songs than comfortably numb and time. Dude you really Really REALLY got more if you do Side 1 & then Side 2, of the album The Dark Side of the Moon exactly as it was intended. Think of it like a book... you can read random chapters but you miss the overall context. (worth having the lyrics to hand but don't let that be a distraction) I know that sounds like a alot of effort but in this busy busy world it's well worth stopping, kicking back and just let each side of the album play through. Especially as tracks transition into each other and "Breathe (in the air)" has a reprise right on end of the later track "Time" which in turn transitions straight into "The Great Gig in the Sky" It's a deep rabbit hole so if you do it then buckle up your seat Dorethy, Kansas is about to go bye bye 🤣😎🤣

Bro, PF album versions are ALWAYS much better than their live stuff. This must be experienced off the "Dark side of the Moon" album not this. You need to experience that whole album a - z. No one can compare to Clare Torrey, the vocalist on the album. I apologize but I will not even watch this video. It's not the whole PF band [no Roger Waters, the founder of the band) and it's not as good as the album.
