Very thoughtful review. You didn't mention the first track, "Let There be More Light". Though not Waters' most consistent song, the opening bass riff grabs the listener by the ear as if to say, "We not quitting just because Syd left, bitch!" Also, Wright's other song, "See Saw", has a very pretty tune that unfortunately got buried under a psychedelic production avalanche. But I still have a soft spot in my heart for this album.

I think See Saw is one of the highlights of this album especially because of the psychedelic production. I think Rick Wright was musically a lil closer to Syd than Roger was.

This song is the transition to the "popular" PF sound. A great album...but as you said as Syd Barret was fading...sad but true. Ty good sir!

In the mid - late 70s, Richard Wright began having some problems in his personal life, as well a problems with alcohol and substance abuse. "More" has the only Pink Floyd song attributed to only Mason and Wright. Also the only album where Dave does all the lead vocals. The whole album was started and finished in a few weeks. It's a brilliant album.

One has to think how it would have went had Syd remained and carried on

I recently had the impression that if he had carried on, Barrett would have eventually worked with Brian Eno. That would have been something.

I have always viewed the track A Saucerful of Secrets as chaos followed by harmony...reaching a crescendo of self-achievement with Dave Gilmour's vocals at the end. Anyone else agree?

"Secrets..." is a masterpiece of mood, atmosphere and Mystery...the mysteries of the universe. As a lifelong and experimental 'space musician' and composer I still find it brilliant. It was influenced by avant garde, Penderecki, or whatever I don't know...only that it's as classic an instrumental as it gets. Marvel at it

Syd wrote and produced two brilliant albums after leaving Floyd totally tripping his nuts off," Jesus Christ! i have trouble getting to my feet and makin' a cup of tea when i'm on acid, call that a collapse? I'd call it doing EXACTLY what i wanted to do, and tripping balls. My life was shaped by those two albums i don't go one month without touching base with Syd and i'm now 57, ''what's meant to be." ( Syd Barratt)

Corporal clegg should be wiped from the history of Pink Floyd. Remember a day and see saw are the best on this album. Set the controls too but I like the Ummgumma version of that the best.
