Pink Floyd - 'Money' Reaction! Money is Not the Root of All Evil, The Love of Money Is!!!

Ойын-сауық

"Money" is a song by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was written by the band's primary lyricist, Roger Waters, and was released as a single in 1973. The song is also featured on Pink Floyd's critically acclaimed album "The Dark Side of the Moon," which was released in the same year.
"Money" is known for its distinctive sound, including the iconic cash register and coin sounds that are heard throughout the track. The lyrics of the song explore the themes of wealth, greed, and the impact of money on society. The chorus famously declares, "Money, it's a gas / Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash."
The song became one of Pink Floyd's most successful and well-known tracks, and it remains a classic in the rock genre. The innovative use of sound effects, time signatures, and the overall musical composition contributed to its enduring popularity.

The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. You've only experienced the tip of the Pink Floyd music iceberg. All their music is beautiful, even the songs that rock hard, and they all have deep meaning. I very much hope you keep listening. It's mind expanding stuff. With regards to your discussion: "If a man has an apartment stacked to the ceiling with newspapers we call him crazy. If a woman has a trailer house full of cats we call her nuts. But when people pathologically hoard so much cash that they impoverish the entire nation we put them on the cover of Fortune magazing and pretend that they are role models." I wish I knew who said this. 🤘🏽💗

🧙...Please, if/when you do decide to react to _Time_ please do the album/studio version from 1973. The 50th anniversary edition might be okay, but I can't say for sure bc I haven't really paid attention. Other years, like 2011? Remastered? & live versions, etc don't seem to maintain the correct tempo during the build-up for maximum intensity. Then, when it does hit, it seems like it's not as pronounced as it should be. I could be completely mental saying this, but that's what it feels like to me & I just _had_ to at least make an attempt to not spoil it for myself.

I was in my 20’s before listening to Pink Floyd for this exact reason! 80’s hair rock definitely ruined me for the rock genre growing up. 70’s rock, 60’s rock is a whole different animal. You can definitely see the blues, the Motown, the funk influences in these incredible bands.

I live in Scotland and we took my 70 year old Dad to the Edinburgh festival a few years ago. He's a huge rock and blues fan so we took him to a Pink Floyd show (just the music not the band) where the entire Dark Side of the Moon album was played. We sat in cinema style seats that reclined and they showed psychedelic images all over the ceiling, it was a trip!!

This album is phenomenal, and it changed our minds about what music could be. It took the experimental aspects of the 60's and created a mature blend of everything that came before it. Guys, don't apologize for missing on this. It's completely understandable to us. Music has always been changing and we were there through this particular time (Beatles onward..)There is so much music out there. It's just great that you have gotten to it, now. And it's thrilling for us to be here with you, watching your first listen. That's the joy of sharing music. 🙂

Technically I wasn't even a teen in the 70's but as the second to the youngest of 7 kids this is what I grew up listening to. The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. As of 2013, The Dark Side of the Moon had sold over 45 million copies worldwide, making it the band's best-selling release, the best-selling album of the 1970s, and the fourth-best-selling album in history.

One of the adopted children what's a teenager and Cherokee Indian who I hung out with all the time and went to the record stores with and some concerts. Also with other family members as in cousins and aunts and uncle's. We still go to concerts together and there's a lot of musicians in my family. One of my cousins just recorded with Michael McDonald a few weeks ago. I grew up in a big hippie family.

Excellent reaction and commentary guys to this Pink Floyd classic. The Dark Side of the Moon LP was mind blowing when it debuted in '73, waaay ahead of its time, and is considered one of the greatest LPs ever conceived, regardless of genre. It is a thematic masterpiece that's intended to be listened to in a single sitting in its intended order, since one song flows to the next (headphones/ear buds are a must). "Money" was the biggest commercial hit from this effort, but every other song is phenomenal, especially "Time." I hope you'll do a full album reaction, even if you have to do so in several uploads -- just be sure to listen to each song in their correct order to make sense of the various themes (which include death, conflict, greed, loneliness, madness, and desperation). ✌️☮️

The best way to listen to Pink Floyd is to listen to the full album. Many times their songs flow from one to the next with no break. "Money", I believe, is the only song on the Dark Side of the Moon album that stands alone. It's an experience, not just the songs. Try "Shine On You Crazy Diamond, parts 1-4". That's an experience I think you'll enjoy!

The talking in the background was Roger Water's creative twist to his music. He asked people about the last fight they were in and if they thought they were right. That's why you hear "I was certainly in the right", and "he was cruisin for a bruisin". Roger does all kinds of crazy things like that to throw you off, but it works so well. Whether it be an alarm clock, a metronome, or some interview he's recorded, he's always trying to push the envelope.

My music library is so much more enriched. My library isn't complete without the likes of Tupac, Dre, Snoop, Exibit. I can go on, but the point is, I have a wide open mind to nearly all genres of music. And a scientific proven fact is, people who regularly listen to multiple genres of music have higher IQs. That's a fact. It's good for the mind and good for the soul. Let's all open our minds and elevate our IQs through the universal language of MUSIC....

Many people criticize the 70s for being all about long guitar solos. The 80s were so sacchirine sweet and poppy, we forget that true rock, was perfected in the 70s. Since all modern music is just variations on the blues, blue will infiltrate all genres of music, even country and rap. All guitarists know, learn the blues, and that will teach you rock and roll.

Look up for the origin of their name: Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, they were huge fan of blues.

Great reaction. When The Tigers Broke Free is Pink Floyd's most powerful song! It will give you chills! It's about Roger Waters Father in world War 2.

It's funny the Flip here. Just scribed after watching about 5 or 6 of y'alls reactions. I'm a 55 yr old white guy who grew up on 70's rock and didn't want to mess with Country or Rap. Over the past 5 yrs I've gotten into Rap and I'm loving it. Also like some old school country. So far I watched y'alls War Pigs, Victim of Changes, Whole Lotta Love, Sultans of Swing and now Money. Good music is good music, plain and simple.

Pink Floyd is what we called head music back in the 70’s- it took you places and you never had to leave your chair. Dark side of the moon album is very profound lyrically--listen to all the album.

And the link to Brick In The Wall is that the poem the teacher grabs from the kid and reads aloud is a verse from this song.
