Staggering how good they were. This is 1994 Earl's Court in London, England. They used to run three fleets of trucks. One for the venue they were playing, one they just played, and one for the next stadium. In addition, the sound went all the way around the venue. So there were speakers everywhere. And at various times there were different sections bathed in light, inflatable giant pigs, and airplanes crashing and exploding. There was no substitute for a live Floyd show back in their heyday.

I was in Udine Italy 1995! I ran away from home,I was 16 & it has still been best concert of my life! Second is Manu Chao & RadioBemba in Pula Croatia (my country),third place are Pearl Jam in Chicago & biggest disappointment were Rolling Stones & Prodigy (they were playing less than hour☝️🤕 & tickets were expensive af!!!)

@John van floyd ♥️ I was there on the third night. This was filmed over the 14 shows. Not all on the same night. It was a 15 night run , but the first show was canceled when lighting fell on the stage just before show time.

Some musicians hide inferior skills behind special effects, and light shows. Pink Floyd's musicianship overwhelmed the light shows. Never will this be duplicated. Bravo.

Oh! you mean like how the two hosts of this video try to always connect Pink Floyd to hip Hop but hip hop is nothing but a bunch of so-called artists hiding behind special-effects like the drum machines they use to get repetitive robotic redundant beats and sequencers that are pre-recorded simulated sounds and/or sampling the music they like from the artist who made it themselves in other words plagiarizing that artist? I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.

I saw them on the previous tour with basically the same setup - had the same disco ball - It was incredible when it lit up - it was like a mini-sun was in the arena (Rupp Arena, Lexington KY). So cool and what a performance. 😮😅🔥🥁🎼🎸🤘🏼🙌🏼😀

My 19yr old self was there at Earls Court in 94. A truly life changing experience. 29yrs later and I still get goosebumps watching this. David Gilmour is the GOAT. As many others have said before, he doesn't just hook his guitar up to an amp, he plugs it directly into his soul."👌🔥✨🌠🎸

I got to see this tour at the Silverdome in Detroit. Great show. The video doesn't give a 1/10th of the effect of that ball throwing reflections all over the inside of the dome. It was mesmerizing, right along with the music.

I was there that night at Earls Court in London. I was 45 at the time and I don't mind admitting that I had tears rolling down my face for most of the concert. The girl next to me collapsed under the weight of emotion and I had to help her friend pick her up and put her in her seat. I honestly don't think they'll ever be another like it. ✌️♥️🇬🇧

Really wished I'd gone to that concert. I was 22 in 1994 and loved Pink Floyd since hearing Dark Side of the Moon as a kid but a good friend of mine who also liked the old PF albums said basically they were nothing after Roger Waters left and I should move on to likes of Oasis, Blur & Radiohead.

I too was there. Though this video is great, it simply does not compare to it live. Everyone left drained. Me and my friends hardly spoke on the way home as we were so 'numbed' by the show.

I was at this gig as well. I’ve seen a lot of the top bands and nothing comes remotely close to what I experienced that night. The best concert I was ever at. Awesome!

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

Not only do I agree he is a legend and one of the best guitarists EVER...I'm a girl so I've honestly had a crush on him since I was a child in the '70s and saw a rare photo my Dad had. 😍 I say rare photo of Mr. Gilmour because I don't believe the band was photographed much back then. Maybe that was just my recollection but I think they were very enigmatic that way. But again, thank you for taking the time to tell us your story. He sounds like a humble guy who enjoys his fans. And I'm sure you'll be forever grateful to your wife for making that call!

Talk about a coincidence. I had a similar thing happen in 1980. I won 3rd row tickets to The Wall on Feb 10th at the LA Sports Arena. Except, I won mine on KLOS (still have the rainbow bumper sticker with "Pink Floyd" in the middle). I can remember just about every minute of it to this day. Back then, when you got backstage it was always after the show. Problem was, after playing two hours no one wanted to be bothered. Plus, they were a mess internally. We got to talk to Gilmour and Mason for about five minutes. Waters was supposed to stay but disappeared immediately after the show. Wright was contractually forbidden from meeting with anyone because he wasn't technically a member of the band, he was a contracted session player. Its funny you mention Cynthia Fox. She was the MC for The Wall shows. When she came out after the intermission she was hammered. She could barely walk. Someone threw a beach ball that bounced off a monitor and hit her in the head. You want to see mesmerized. The Wall was that and then some. Its not like now, where people basically know what The Wall was. Back then, we had no clue what was going on. All we knew is that, somehow, there were two Pink Floyds on stage and for half the show the roadies were taking down a wall and rebuilding it in front of them. For the other half of the show, we couldn't see anyone except through little holes here and there. This song was the first time you really saw anyone after the break. I saw Gilmour play this song on an even more iconic guitar. The original. The Black Strat :). I get sick every time I see Jim Irsay play it.

One doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd. One experiences Pink Floyd. Welcome aboard.

The concert has many more mind blowing hits. Also, this Pulse concert performs the album Dark side of the Moon in its entirety ! Best concert ever !

Yes it did. I was lucky enough to see them on this tour at the old Texas Stadium in Dallas and it was the best show I've ever been to. Won't be a better one.

David Gilmore is a poet with his guitar. His note placement is perfection. His solos add continuity to the song, holds it together, instead of breaking the song up like other solos do.

The guitar solo is well known as one of the best of all time. I saw Pink Floyd 11 times on the Pulse tour and each night the solo was different. The structure was basically similar but there were nuances that made each night different. I wouldn't trade those 11 nights for anything.

As for the production: nobody has pulled off anything comparable ever since, the Pulse Tour has been unmatched. They had three complete stage sets (one was taken apart from the previous concert, while they were playing the concert on the second and the third was being assembled fro the next concert. The lights at the bottom of the center stage were airport runway lights, because nothing else was powerful enough. And this was the first show in history, we’re the Lightshow was synchronized with the music by computers. This was so ahead of it’s time back then, that something like this has not been recreated ever since. This whole concert was epic and has set a benchmark for decades to come and has thus reserved its place in music history. And the 6 min second solo of Comfortably Numb is allegedly the best guitar solo ever played on this planet!

I read in a guitar magazine years ago that David Gilmour was deemed the Undisputed Dean of the Compound Bend and has practically perfect note placement. He admits that he never was a fast guitarist but what lacks there, he sure can make a guitar sing... And gratulations to you two for NOT pausing during a David Gilmour guitar solo. 😂

"Comfortably Numb" is definitely one of the best songs of all time, unique unto itself. The lyrics and guitar solo put you in a place where you can remove yourself from despair, pain, sorrow, and madness. Great job guys as always.

I was there and it was the best concert ever. No stereo is able to do it justice though as they played their music through a stadium sized quadraphonic sound system which just blows you away. This was Earl's Court, London.

The year was 1994, the venue was Earls Court in London. It has an 80,000 capacity, but they didn't just fill it for that one night - they filled it FOURTEEN NIGHTS IN A ROW. I first saw them in 1968. I also saw them in 1974, also at Earls Court, when they released 'Dark Side of the Moon'.

Mate I went to three of those 14 concerts and I can tell you it does not hold 80,000. 15,000 at best all 3 nights. It's not Wembley it's an indoor arena

This was 1994 and to this day no one has surpassed this show. I saw this tour in DC at RFK stadium. Best show ever.

I remember the first time I saw this video back in 1995 after I'd returned from a tour of duty. To say it was life changing is putting it politely. I cant even begin to imagine what it must have been like to have been there on the night. I've been lucky enough to see Gilmour's band play it in 2006 at the Albert Hall, but this footage... man, this was something else.

earls court london. how fast do you normally get bored when watching a guitar-solo? 15 seconds? half a minute? !!! you just watched a 5 minute solo !!! i´ve seen this solo countless times in the last 20 years. never got bored a second.

Pink Floyd created their own Genre. I consider their music a journey, a Rollercoaster of emotion that gives you a journey of life and after life . This band is just unique and the content is smart and imaginative. Thanks for covering Pink Floyd, you guys do a wonderful job!

I've seen Pink Floyd live 3 times, Once in JFK Stadium in Philadelphia and twice in Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia in 1988, I think they played 3 nights in a row at the Vet, phenomenal shows, unreal lights, flying pigs, planes crashing into the stage, the production was incredible.

Floyd was in a league of their own, arguably the greatest of all the Prog rock bands. I saw them only once but that has provided me with a lifetime of memories. David Gilmour’s guitar solo is flat out legendary. Great reaction and thanks for representing Tiki Barber too. 🏈

Saw 2 gigs at Earl's court on this tour, part of a 14 night residency. So many memories! On the sing Sorrow (which you should definitely review!!!) you could see & feel the walls shake when the big power chords hit. Floyd play loud, very loud. But always crystal clear The presentation of the gigs was unsurpassed and remains so to this day.. The sound was quadrophonic, so you had different sounds coming at you from all angles. Other tracks from this concert I'd love to see your reactions to: Sorrow High Hopes Keep Talking One of these days Run Like Hell. (although every song in the concert is a winner!) Good stuff guys!

You have TOTALLY gotta make your way through this entire “PULSE” concert - 2.5 hours of pure out-of-body sublime majesty, from Pink Floyd and the greatest live production ever captured for posterity. 🤯🤯🤯

This was at Earls Court London as some of the other commenters have stated and it was sold out 15 nights in a row! Thought you might want to know that too!! I read where it cost them $800,000 a day to put this show on and that was back in 1994 you could probably double that today at least!! Every song Pink Floyd does in this concert is at least equivalent to almost any other groups finale! I've seen these guys four times in three different decades and I've also seen about 100 concerts in my lifetime from AC DC to Led Zeppelin and everyone in between alphabetically and never seen a better show than Floyd puts on!!!! Last comment if you want to see a FULL-SIZE AIRPLANE" crash into the stage and explode during this same concert do the song "On the Run" from their Dark Side of the Moon album. It's an instrumental song representing a nightmare at an airport!

When you watch Echoes part 1 live from Pompeii you will see them in the early 70s and see Gilmour's guitar genius, Water's bass, and drummer Nick Mason have been top tier at their instruments from the 60s through now. RIP keyboardist Richard Wright

I saw them on this tour in DC. Hard to describe how overwhelming an experience it was. One thing the video can’t convey is the quality of the concert sound. Crystal clear sound at concert volumes in an open air stadium … absolutely mind-blowing

Was at that one as well. You'd look down at your clothes, and they were pulsating to the sound. You didn't just see and hear the show, you felt it vibrating thru your body.

The entire concert was just amazing. Goosebumps. Pink Floyd is the master of psychedelic rock.. leaves you just memorized..

This whole concert has a futuristic vibe, given the light show quality --and this show took place in 1994! I saw David Gilmour (the singer/guitarist) on a solo tour he did in 2016. He still played a lot of Pink Floyd classics like this and still had a light show. If you want to check out a more recent performance by David Gilmour, I suggest this same song, 'Comfortably Numb', David Gilmour, Live in Pompeii, 2016.' He was 70 years old that year and still sounded great! As for the Pulse concert, I suggest checking out 'Sorrow'.

I've been a Pink Floyd fan for over 50 years and it is wonderful that they still have the power to capture new audiences. This is the best version of this song with David Gilmour's solo being probably the best ever. The whole show is just mindblowing. The venue was Earl's Court, London, 1994.

1994, this was the 5th and final time I saw them live. Was fortunate enough to sit front row center in the New Orleans Superdome for Pulse. I remember having to turn around from the stage to watch the disco ball open up at the end. ( which in the moment seemed counterintuitive to take my eyes off the stage for a second) There’s been no concert experience like this one, before or since.

I had the privilege of seeing them in Raleigh, NC during this tour - as usually, they sounded amazing, and they ALWAYS put on a great show!

The scream David generates from his guitar while the mirror ball is opening sounds like its from another planet. I'm in my 50's and still doing air guitar when I hear this one. So incredibly emotional, and timeless

When you talk about the cost of production for that tour, keep in mind that just about all of the effects, lighting, and technology in this show were the absolute cutting-edge at the time (1994). They even customized the setup of the sound system for each venue, with speakers providing 360-degree surround sound! 😳🤯 It was beyond epic! 🤘😎

It's good to see young people reacting to Pink Floyd, i got into them in 72. i flew from Australia just for this concert, a life changing experience. Dave Gilmour can make a guitar, talk sing and cry all at the same time, he is the KING of feel on the guitar. This concert was in Earls Court London England.

So glad you got to this video. Definitely among my top 5 favorite videos.

Usually guitars have the strings fixed at the bottom end (the bridge) and they are tuned at the top (the machine head) by turning the pegs to tighten or relax them as required. A few guitars, like that one, have the reverse arrangement with their strings fixed at the machine head and tuned at the bridge.

@@jamesrowe3606 Right, but generally the Bass gets such little love, I try to shout it out whenever possible. And in my experience, you see more headless basses being played than guitars. And not much of either these days. (this was 1994). They were pretty popular in the '80s and early '90s.. -From a loving Steinberger owner. 😁🤘🏼

Bros, this is a masterpiece of music. And one of the best ever rock guitar solos.

This recording was done at Earls Court in London, but P.F. had 31 tractor trailers to haul the 4 stages they used, around the world. I saw them in D.C. that tour, and the production value was through the roof! The band even stated that they knew they were losing money, but the show was for the fans, not their wallets. I mean, they had the entire stadium encircled in speakers, and the show was put on in full surround sound. The technology used, for 94, was the tops. Some stuff was so new, like the gold lasers, only they were licensed to use them

Pink Floyd wrote masterpieces. That's why their music will go on forever. Comfortably Numb played with the bands awesome guitar solo added to the strings is unbelievable.

Tee shirt, blue jeans, and absolutely no auto tune. Just pure talent and skill. We were there for the music back in the great days of the greatest music, musicians, ever. It was all about the music. And they delivered. Edited to say, The light shows are a nice extra, but they didn't need it. No bands ever had light shows back in the great days of music, it really was all about the music.

Pink Floyd was by far the best live experience I ever had, saw them 4 times, twice with Roger Waters in 1975 & 1977, and the Gilmour led band in 1987 & 1994. Floated out of those shows and what you just saw is pretty much what I saw in Foxboro on the Pulse tour. First time they did Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety as the 2nd set, then did Echoes as the emcore. Next time they opened with Animals them the 2nd set was all of Wish You Were Here. They were freaking spiritual for me, what we witnessed was more than music but art at its highest level. Echoes Live on Pompeii will be more evidence. They are a genre and vibe all their own. Another outstanding experience is to watch also the song "Run like Hell" from the same gig "Pulse", which is the ending song of the gig. This is because i see you wonder about the production cost... Wait to see what happens there 😄😄

Because of all of the visuals & lighting, Pink Floyd barely broke even on this tour. But they'd already made their dough by then !! It was all about the performance & the show. And they did their thing !!

Pink Anderson and Floyd Council are the root of the bands name. Both were 1920’s blues musicians. Suggestion for a song, listen to Suppers Ready by Genesis when Peter Gabriel was still the original front man. There are many videos from the early 70s of the group playing live. Great commentary!

The band was named in homage of two old black blues musicians from North Carolina, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. At first they called themselves; "The Pink Floyd Sound", later shortening it to just Pink Floyd. A band like no other, a genre' unto themselves! The cerebral band of Rock & Roll.

Hey Fellas. So glad you checked out this version of "Comfortably Numb". As you said the light show and the sound quality were both amazing and it made you wish you were there to share this amazing concert with them. Back in the day (late 60's, early 70's) when I was playing concerts with my band they would often put the sound and light show credits on the marquee. Suffice it to say, we never had any light and sound quality of this caliber. Pink Floyd always put on a great show and covered every aspect of what a band should be in a live performance. Saw them 3 times. Mind blown each time. Notice how the people sit motionless absorbing ever note and every visual. Ultimate respect for Floyd.

Saw them in New Orleans 1994. Best concert I have ever been to. By far. Still get goose bumps watching this song.

David G's voice blows me away. The lyrics are phenomenal

This was at Earls Court, London. The band was formed in 1964/65. Their early stuff, with Syd Barrett, is very experimental sounding. David Gilmour, who joined the band in '68, (singer/guitarist) is very emotive in his playing as you can hear. This Pulse show (at Earls Court in London, 1994) was actually the last show Pink Floyd played together. Other suggestions: "Money" live at Pulse I think you would enjoy. Also "Echoes" live at Pompeii, 1972 shows them in the early days. It's a wonderful show, no audience at a Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, Italy, a city that was destroyed by a volcano in 79 A.D.

ECHOES!!! YASSS!!! Echoes in Pompeii is funktastic!!!

Another good concert was Live in Gdansk. That version of "High Hopes" was just unbelievable..

This is one of the greatest performances of all times, one of the greatest guitar solos ever. This is definitely in my top 5 by far.

I saw this tour at Yankee Stadium, They had speakers in the centerfield bleachers and scattered throughoout the seats so there was some sound coming from behind you (ie the speaking voices on DSOTM) and bird or plane sounds moving from the front of the stadium to the back of the stadium so it seemed like they were flying overhead. Their conrtrol of sound is unparallelled. Btw saw your hat GO Giants

I was at Earls Court in London October 1994 when The Pulse Tour Concerts were held and nobody or no-one comes even close to the shows Pink Floyd produce in their Concerts from Musically, Visually, Special Effects, Lights and Lasers, Pyrotechnics and Inflatable Animals (Mostly Algie the Pig)..You reacted to Comfortably Numb from the Pulse Concert and were blown away but the whole concert from start to finish is exactly the same with visuals and effects so you need to watch the whole Pulse Concert which also includes the whole of Dark Side Of The Moon in Set 2..+ the Encore which has Comfortably Numb (What you saw) anf finishes with 'Run Like Hell' were the whole of the stage and the giant video screen explodes like a bomb has gone off..!! The GREATEST CONCERT OF ALL TIME 👌🤩✌️😇

I Had the pleasure of seeing Pink Floyd three times during the late 70's and 80's. Every one of them had an incredible light show.

The "spaceship" was actually the "World's Largest Disco Ball". It was supposed to open up on the top too, and cast stripes of light around the arena. The one during this show malfunctioned... but it worked right when I saw them. 👍

At the end of David’s greatest solo of all time, the petal ball descends and opens up. In the middle is a diamond. The group was paying homage to Syd Barrett. They continued to show him respect with the song, “Shinevon You Crazy Diamond.”

I’m old enough to have bought Pink Floyd’s debut album. They’re a progressive rock band that produced absolute master works that have stood the test of time. Their music is just as amazing and relevant today as it was back in the early seventies. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Rush were at the top of my list of being my most favorite bands of that era. No other rock band I know of has the colossal stage production that Pink Floyd had. I’ve been to three Genesis concerts and they had an elaborate light, sound and stage show. However, even their great stage show didn’t equal Pink Floyd’s.

I saw the "Pink Floyd Pulse" concert live in 1994 in Cleveland Municipal Stadium (old Cleveland Browns stadium). It was the same set up / production as this one. To this day, it's the greatest concert I've ever been to.

I was one of the VERY VERY LUCKY PEOPLE to have been at Earls Court London for The Pulse Tour in October 1994..!! Undoubtedly the GREATEST CONCERT OF ALL TIME..From Musically, Visually, Lighting and Lazers, Pyrotechnics, Speacial Effects and A Theatrical Masterpiece..!! I was sitting in the Top Balcony directly opposite the Giant Mirror Ball that descended from the ceiling in Comfortably Numb and 30years later it still sends shivers down my spine and tears to my eyes when I watch it or listen to it again..!! Will Never Ever Be Another Concert That Comes Even Close To The Performance and Perfection of That Concert..!! ✌️🫶👌
