Sixty-five here. I had a near mystical experience with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. A group of us were sitting on the beach in California waiting to catch a midnight movie at a local theater (the Strand Theatre, Ocean Beach). We were listening to the car stereo blast Dark Side of the Moon. Then, like magic, I experience my first and only grunion run. I didn't know if it was real or if the music and weed were just that good. Thousands of little silver fish were flopping around on the beach with Pink Floyd playing in the background. It was surreal. After that, the movie was a little anti-climactic.

Someone once said the genius of David Gilmour is his ability to play the notes you didn't know you needed to hear until you hear him play them. I agree completely. And it's very odd: he somehow manages to make each note sound both fresh and inevitable at the same time. That's musicianship of a very high order indeed. Rare.

You don't listen to Gilmour's guitar playing, you live it, you breathe it, and it reaches the soul, not the ears. Its perfection. Polly is said to have stated that David expresses feelings and emotions best when he plays his guitar - that is when the true song comes forth. The finest guitarist ever IMHO, and Rolling Stone agrees lol

61 years old and my feelings for this song only strengthen each time i hear it.
David Gilmour speaks with so much emotion through his Stratocaster, he makes his guitar cry, scream, wail and weep, like no other Rock guitarist! His phrasing, and his 3 and 4 step bends are legendary, and at this point, 1994, he had been doing it with Pink Floyd for 28 years.
🤘🤘🤘🔥probably my favorite Pink Floyd song

I was at that Concert, and I couldn't speak for hours - I was totally mesmerised and left emotionally drained after the concert. Lilly, so nice to hear and see your enjoyment. I attended the concert in 94. It was the best moment of my life. I was wrecked for every other show after. Floyd is the top of the heap for music and performance. No one comes close.
You ask what it was like to see him play live, you hit the nail on the head. I have seen PF a number of times live and it's taken weeks to come down to earth, to reality, to the point that it changes you. A Pink Floyd concert is something that we oldies who have seen them live can not explain the feeling to others. Welcome to the world of the Pink Floyd and David Gilmour. You are in for a life-changing experience, there's no going back.
It's always wonderful to see a young person get captivated by Pink Floyd. I grew up with this stuff. So happy to see it appreciated by today's generation. Head on into this incredible rabbit hole Lilly xx
I saw this tour back in April, 1994 in San Diego, CA. Best concert I have ever or will ever see.
The studio version of that second solo is, in my opinion, the most perfectly crafted solo ever put on tape. And then to be creative enough, and talented enough to keep the pieces in tact and make it that much better live is just...well, it's perfection.

@@bazzer124 1987 Momentary Lapse of Reason tour....Pontiac Silverdome. I caught both shows. Lucky I bought both nights. One night they did the regular tour, and the second day was a very rare Dark Side concert playing the entire album. Did not know why my instincts told me to buy both nights tickets......till the show.

When a band sounds better live than a recording in a studio that is the sound of a true musician. I listen to David's live music over a studio edit every time.
What you witnessed here in these 12 minutes, is true greatness at work. Masters of their art. Phenomenal
I was lucky enough to be at one of these concerts at Earl's Court in London...one of the Greatest experiences of my life hands down, I feel blessed to have witnessed it first hand 🙏❤
One of the best solos ever. They did all that because they love their fans and we love them and are so thankful for the music and how it influenced our own lives and mentalities.
Gilmour's solo's, especially this one, cannot leave you unmoved. However it happens, it evokes emotion. And what the emotions are is personal to you. A great example of the beauty of music.
The guitar solo is transcendent. Put on your headphones, close your eyes and gravity just slips away.
The best concert to have ever taken place. I'm so upset that I will never get to see Pink Floyd live.
Please do "Echoes" live at Pompeii, 1971, when they were young. All the songs from the Pulse show are amazing. You might also think about doing their album "Dark Side of the Moon" in two reactions, side 1 and side 2. Same for their album "Wish You Were Here." Another great performance is "On the Turning Away" live in 1988. Great reaction and thank you for not pausing during David's guitar solo!

I was there!!!! So,now you know I’m old 😂 It’s impossible to explain how Gilmour’s guitar sound can FILL an arena.Brought tears to my eyes😢
Pink Floyd's light show is simply amazing to see live
I was lucky to be at that gig and you are right , Pink Floyd are at there best live. Would love to see your reaction to SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMONDS. 🤘
One of the high points of this concert was the 3 women singing Great Gig In The Sky..... just incredible!!!!
