Thank you very much! Interlining can make such a difference! Glad to have you here 🧵❤️🪡
This tutorial is fantastic! I am a self taught sewist and until now have only made garments. A friend asked me to make some curtains to almost the exact same specifications that you showed in your video. I’ve never made curtains before so was thrilled to find a video that taught me how to make professionally finished drapes. Your descriptions and the camera angles were just perfect. My friend was thrilled with the finished product. The only thing I did differently was make triple pinch pleats instead of double, and added some button embellishments on the top of the pleats. Thank you for providing all of the standard measurements for each element also.

come on,you just need a automatic pleating machine
I have watched a lot of sewing videos and most times I leave feeling even more confused or frustrated, but this was so clear and concise. It was so easy for me to spot where I had gone wrong and was just as good as being in the same room as the teacher. Awesome
I made the mistake of following the pattern on the edge and top and bottom of some curtains I made in the eighties (in my 20s) only to find at the end that my curtain was off at an angle and didn't hang properly. It was a HUGE disappointment and since then I religiously measure and check and triple check before cutting fabric. I only use a draftsman's right angle ruler to neaten the edge of fabrics before cutting. Shame on manufacturers who produce fabrics that are not straight or have printed patterns that are not straight. Thank you for your wonderful tutorial I have learnt something new xx🌹 P.S. pesky knots ! 😠
I’m amazed! Your work is flawless!! It’s so hard to find someone that does curtains like this nowadays. Thanks for sharing.
Fabulous tutorial, thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Fantastic video thank you.
Brilliant! Thank you so much x
Amazing video. I'll be going all by hand . No interlining because I'm in France and they like thin wispy curtains with shutters. But I'll still use lining no interlining. Cream undyed cotton damask. 30 year old fabric shoved it in to the washing machine. Came up like new.
That was awesome..thanks so much for sharing!!!

Excellent post. Thanks
Greetings from Little Rock, Arkansas USA. Thank you for these wonderful tutorials. I'm inspired to hand sew 6 interlined pleated panels. I'll let you know how they turn out.
I thought your tutorial was really clear and helpful - thank you! I wonder if you could give details on threads to use for hand sewing and for the machine! Thank you so much
You have golden fingers. Simply stunning drapery. I adore giraffes. If I could find this fabric in the U.S. I would buy it in a second.

Thank Sadie , to help with the knots try pulling your thread over a candle before use, this will cause the thread to run smoothly.

Wow that’s a great video thank yov
I hate Knots too. I recently found out that thread has a nap! So when you take a length, you should thread it at the beginning end. I have had so many fewer knots since I started doing that. I'm sure you already know. However, it's been a game changer for me.
Thank you again for the complete instructions. My hand sewn pinch pleat curtains turned out beautifully! I have a question though. I have enough interlining for the reverse box pleat valances. Should they be interlined as well?
Thank you for your brilliant videos. Could you please advise what type of thread you use when hand sewing the fabric and also whether or not you run the thread through wax before using? Regarding future tutorials, I would like to see how you make swags and tails lined with a co-ordinating fabric and also how you make Austrian (or festoon) blinds. I know the principal is similar to Roman blinds but I would like to see how you make these as the finish on your work is impeccable. Thank you.
Thank you!!!
thank you so much! :)
Amazing flawless work!!! Perfection. These are double lined? I wonder what fabric you use for your lining.
I love this tutorial, thank you so much! I am getting close to attempting to work out pleat size & feel very out of my depth. Is there another way to work out the size each pleat needs to be verses the length of curtain? my curtains are enormous! I am reusing old vintage ones which I have lined. I don't know the size of my windows yet as I have't moved. The world is literally my oyster BUT working it out is making my head boggle. Thoughts?
This is a brilliant tutorial - thank you! May I ask what weight interlining do you use?
Hi Sandie! really enjoyed the video. How come the backing is not sewn all the way just the corners?
thank you 😊
This is one terrific lesson, wow! I have a big job coming up and needed update on how to interline..fabulous. a few ?s if you will....one is I like the weight of your hand sewing thread? what do you like to use---2- when you did the pleat, you mentioned attaching the top folds of the pleats...I missed how you did that. machine or hand or a press? Also that secure stitch at the bottom of the pleat did you do that on the base of the buckram or just below the buckram? I am a fan and will watch more, thank you so very much!
Fantastic work I used to make curtains professionally and it is like old times looking at you. What brand of cotton do you use for hand seeing?
Just wondering why you don't place the lining in under the hems and side hems of the outer fabric the way you do with the buckram tape? Wouldn't all the fabric then drape and move together nicely? I have always wondered why the two have to be separate then hand stitched.
I would love to know how long it would take to make one that is 178 in wide and 102 in long it kinda look a big project
I can’t seem to find any mention of what width these would need to be to cover the pinch pleats?
What is the white cloth called
Loved the video, thank you. The thing I need more help with is working out the measurements for the pleats and spaces. My finished curtain width is 221cm or 87 inches. It is a linen fabric with just a simple cotton lining, no interlining. I only want double pleats not triple. Can you advise me please. Many thanks. Angela H

Hi Angela, send me your curtain width before pleated and your finished with for each curtain and I’ll work it out for you xx
Thanks for your video, really clear and helpful. I'm about to make double fabric width pinch pleat curtains, do I need to take any extra steps to catch the lining to interlining across the panel, given the larger width?
@suepyner

I would be interested to know this as well, as I'm going to be using the same width fabric. Please let me know if you find out :-)

Hi Sarah, yes, when you put your linings in, they are locked in at the seams, sewn at the sides by hand, chain sticked at the bottom of the lining and caught into the pleats at the top. I am shortly going to make a two with curtain where I will explain how to do all this xx
what type of thread do you use? Do you use wax on your thread ever? I am a quilter and started using wax to avoid the knotting. Also do you ever use drapery weights? LOVE your video.
Спасибо!🙏 👏👏👏

Thank you Anna, Wonderful and informative video. Question, when you herringboned the sides did you pick up both the fabric and the interlining together or just the fabric? ( Stitch closest to the folded edge of the side of the curtain)
what are those hook called?
If you join two pieces of fabric together would you interline each piece up to the join or join the interlining and use as one whole piece? Great instruction am using the video to make my 3yr old granddaughter some princess curtain.

Hi, join both face fabric and interning and place interlining over the wrong side of the fabric before you place the lining . Thank you so much for supporting my channel xx
Hi, what weight of interlining did you use? I'm about to make curtains with a similar weight of fabric and wondered what you would advise? Thank you so much for sharing as this will help me an awful lot.
