USA listener here. I got introduced to some old school Uk Dubstep back in 2010. It was way deeper than the sugar-coated hype juice BroStep being played at parties. Been following that thread back to the roots in DnB, Garage, Reggae dub, finding artists like Goldie, Burial. The sense of atmosphere, introspection and story goes deeper and deeper. I find my best work as a producer results from understanding the real roots of the genre. The people, the places, the culture, the influences. It’s an unspoken language with deep roots and a story to tell versus the commercial Disney plastic pop stuff. 🔊

Preach man. I was into dubstep back in like 2008, then was such an insufferable hipster to be around when skrillex was blowing up (I’m American, very few people here have heard old school dubstep), I was vocal about my dislike for his music. Goldie is great man. DnB and jungle ended up being my mainstay electronic genres. GLR, metalheadz, and many other labels put out some of the best electronic music ever produced imo. Making an effort to go back to the roots is huge and shows both respect for the music and also a genuine passion for the music. So props to you bro

Good to hear I'm not alone, have a very similar story here too. I got into the sound around 2011-2012 and never stopped going deeper.. Cheers.

2022 still a banger
Another fine addition to my dubstep collection. Thanks to KZread I've been enjoying a genre that I thought I'd never been so deep into. Og dubstep is the good shit.
Insane mix, one of the best old school dubstep therapy I've heard so far
Still a banger in 2021

Class never extinguishes. Not for people who cannot imagine nor move ahead... How long did this class last.. well give or take 10 years, that too within a small minority in England.
1st song (with mary ann hobbs speaking): Pinch - Desert Islands

omg it's like my complete ipod... in a mixtape
Is it just me, but after that top 40 from fact mag i've been getting a kinda of dubstep revival kinda thing. And this mix is fucking mint for that
Ahh ! From about 19.00 ... I'm buzzing.. I'm really impressed.
Quality! If Dubstep today would sound like this the youngsters would spit on their fuckin´ Skrillex mp3s Dubstep changed into Disneyland like Gabber 20 years ago to cheesy bullshit. I love this Mix

lots of good dubstep like this still out there, its just overshadowed by the mainstream stuff... hell, Synkro is even playing at shambhala this year... didn't think he still did the dubstep thing lol. Deep medi and tempa still release tracks every couple weeks for the most part.

ay not necessarily dude ik this is an old af comment but I'm 19 and from the north, I DJ this stuff to my friends in 2022 luckily for me I've got a lot of artillery all the good stuff has already been released and put online a lot of the dubs are less exclusive now so when I play this to people my age their just as blown away as you guys were in the 00s. Hope people like us are still as passionate in 100 years like classical heads
Just had to read ancient memories and I knew this was going to be sick
