My father had a Master's Degree, and he was a director in the precision engineering department of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Until 1990 PIA was among the best airlines in the World. PIA built 40 airlines in the World including Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabian, Gulf, Singapore, etc. Emirates hired about 4000 Aviation Engineers of PIA by offering them a very good package. After my father's retirement PIA was taken over by corrupt individuals, and people were hired and fired based on their political affiliations and their ethnicity but not based on marit, that's why, today PIA is among the worst and unsafe airlines in the World. Two of my older brothers were Aviation Engineers at PIA but they lost their jobs because of ethnic discrimination.

I would like to ask - why doestn anyone on an airplane show u exactly how it works to open the emergency door - in case of the case you are nervous - and then it might not work if there is no flight assistant around........I flew 60 times from Europe to Havana - never was there any demonstration - I think thats really weird - what do you think about that ? thanks and waiting for your reply Martin

Probably she meant 60 duty hours not actual flight time. According to regulations, 100h of flight time in a month is max, about 30h in 7 days. Imagine flying 60h a week + duty time that isn't flying, it could easily exceed 100h a week... please...

Jacek Szulist 100 is FAA maximum. So no pilot can fly above 100hrs in a month. She meant 60 duty hours. Not in flight

60 flying hours is low dude. The limit is 100 flying hours. There is no limit on duty hours.

In my younger years it was the same in law enforcement here in the United States and more specifically, Texas. I went to the police academy in 1992 and upon graduating I worked as a reserve officer for nearly one year without earning money. I'd have to work side jobs as security just to sustain myself. Money doesn't buy happiness, BUT it does buy things that make this world go around. Love your videos and accent :)

Aviation is extremely subject to the economic cycles ( in fact it is so sensitive that it anticipates those cycles by a few month. ) About the P2Fly, sad enough it is not behind us ... on the contrary, it is becoming a "norm" where our young fellows have to go through... especially in north eastern Europe, North Africa as in Asia. Even in UAE you find this way to " get in aviation "... But as you say: you don't buy happiness with money. Groetjes uit Leuven

My wife was a F/A for 25 years and the pilots we knew made absolutely crap salaries, and many of them did quit flying. Its very common here in Canada. Now theres such a shortage of skilled pilots the airlines are finally paying them decently.

As a passenger, I've flown by different airlines companies accross Europe. it's nice and gentle to hear from your about the pilots and the salary they earn ; their main work explains also the flights' number, also about the hours' number they need to take off from an airport to land to another one. the stopover that may occur also. The climate conditions and we must also say by now : the global climate changes, apparently doesn't seem to stop them going around the world. Congratulations to them, what ever may happen,.You did a good work to let us realise much better, what this job is made of and what's all about. Dank U bij voorbaat. Proficiaat.

Salary is not the most important thing in life = very true, but I must say 10 000 euros net a month is pretty good.

Well, yes and no, if you are from Portugal, Spain or Italy, it is a very good, above government higher average, it's also net value, taxes are heavy, in Portugal, a 10k net per month, yelds 4.8k in your bank account, although good anyway, but not that brilliant, taking into account, unless you go to the air force, it costs from 100 to 200k to sit on a jetliner cockpit, with no guarantees, you may end flying drones or crop planes. Going through the military, air force, it requires a lot more effort, study, discipline, blood and tears, but it willl cost you, well, basically nothing, money wise. However, military pilots have very high chances in the civilian market. I'm not a pilot, but I have responsibilities in a part of the aviation market.

In general what matters is the take home pay (net pay), however, tax regulations really do matter and those often depend not only where you live, but how your life worked out, especially marital status and the number of kids can have a major impact on taxes.

But I am now living my dream as a private pilot and flying the big ones in simulators :-). So all good! - I really like your videos and I am happy for you that you can live your dream! Thank you for your insight and realistic balance of being an airline pilot. My take-away was your direct and frank insight into balancing a huge loan versus the end product of the skill and knowledge of being a pilot. Skills, like a physician must continually be upgraded by new system, expectations, so too, a pilot. Safety for yourself, crews, and passenger require only the best trained and knowledgible pilots. I really appreciated your view of not glamorizing the role without asking the personal question, will this make one happy? Time is the most precious commodity as there is so little of it; for some who seek the quality of life and investment of time and people, this profession would not be a match. Others, chose the glamorous role without exploring the themes and realities that you presented so well. Thank you for your insight and knowledge of what many pilots have to balance in their lives to find happiness and love. There is a love of flying which you transmit so well in your presentation.

I’ve been on a plane when your a pilot. This was Years ago and you were Amazing Pilot then. I can see you having an Amazing job now. I’m so jealous as, I used to fly before the car accident (which wasn’t my fault) but now they have taken away my license and it’s bumming difficult to get it back with the management team I have to run my team about.
