Ridiculous reporting, when and where did this happen? Saying in or near the cascades is absurd. no flight path?? THUMBS DOWN reporting.

So in your book, everyone will eventually meet tragic death? No one escapes taxes and death, so to me burdened by taxes is more tragic.

I really like Ryan's reporting. I was surprised how short he is in real life.

So if you have VFR conditions with no weather issues like cloud cover why is it a challenge to navigate the Cascade Mountains? Don't you just know to fly above them or are they so high in certain areas where you cannot do that? If he had flown over them hundreds of times I would have to guess he either had a medical emergency or catastrophic malfunction or failure with his plane. Heartfelt condolences to his family.

Parachute saves lives! I cannot stress this enough!

is there a ntsb report? did the piolet have a mechanical ,weather or software issue? was his plane well maintained?

That's sad, there are bold pilots and old pilots but no old bold pilots. NO communications heard probably means controlled flight into terrain or a catastrophic system failure. RIP

You can tell when someone is not a pilot. They will parrot that stupid line about "Theres old pilots and bold pilots......" as if nobody had heard it before and apply it to any crash.

Control Flight Into Terrain, an acronym for Cummulo-Granite (mountain rock)

Heart failure can be a reason in that age not necessary something wrong with the plane

I GOT A SERIOUS CASE OF THE DUMB-ASS, i CIRCUMNAVIGATED THE ATLANTIC OCEAN TWICE IN A 24 FOOT SAILBOAT WITHOUT AN ENGINE. AT LEAST I AM SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT WHEN THE BOAT SINKS I CAN SWIM. Overage, overweight, over-the-hill pilot crashes and dies. Happens every day all over America. On average there are 3-5 similar small plane wrecks each day in this country.

On average, more like 1/day. Correct for age, weight a/c category, mountains etc.: more like .02/day.

I sure wonder why no radio if IFR. . Maybe he did misscalulate altitude and mountain passes and hit straight on,, no mayday,no parachute..what are all your thoughts?. And damn, he was experienced on that flight path.
