Well, I can assure you that every airplane is different Just like every vehicle, A guy I know Was flown like fifteen different planes Every last one of them it's different, So unless you have flown that same plane over and over You won't know what every stupid little button does every single time, A simple mix up of buttons that are probably side by side Surrounded by about twenty other buttons that do about the same thing Yeah a mix up like that it's gonna happen and it's no big deal and no risk to your safety. And passenger planes have way more buttons than military style planes and stuff.

This happened that one time in 2001 American Airlines 11: Don’t worry! Nobody move. If you try anything stupid, you will hurt yourself, and the airplane. Silly pilot said that to ATC instead of the plane 🤦🏽‍♂️

It’s not, he is pointing out that he is the captain assigned to this particular flight and he is experienced, so passengers are in good hands. He is NOT trying to say that passengers are safe because HE is flying instead of the first officer.

The plane just departed so it wouldn't be landing at the same airport. In addition this would've been the center frequency/center controller by the time hey hit cruise. They would've already passed on from not only the tower controller but also the departure controller as well.
