This. This is what I've been thinking about. The real world doesn't change as fast as in PIKMIN without humans. A box can't be in a place it wasn't just a few weeks ago, and just looking at all of the sites in Olimar's tale couldn't have changed so fast, and then not change at all while you're on the planet. Not to mention how every piece of food is perfectly fine at all times, and the house is completely intact. The humans should have been gone for ages, so why is this the fact? something is wrong with the planet, but if im gonna believe it's a simulation im gonna need a lot of evidence.

My theory is that there's some kind of space-time distortion going on, and that this is also why ships crash onto the planet so often. This would also explain how the Water Wraith appeared in the games, and by extension the Plasm Wraith. Though the big issue here is WHY these distortions are happening and.....really there could be any number of things causing them.

@@anthonyharrison308 You should watch free guy if you haven’t. It touches on some concepts involving our lives just being a simulation and if it even really matters.

Bloom solved this paradox for me. Humans and Pikmin coexist, but we need camera technology to observe and interact with one another, hence the AR screen. It's like we're dimensionally out of phase with the Pikmin and their ecosystem.

Imagine if there was a neo city in Pikmin 4? I'd imagine the map would be decently sized, during the day missions the lights would obviously be off. I could imagine the same would be true for the night missions since there's 0 electricity. You could reactivate the electricity with Yellow Pikmin like in Pikmin 3, so that you can see more of where you're going since It'd be fairly dark normally.

Honestly, as well made as your theory is, i really hope its not true, pikmin is simply much more interesting when the antagonists are forces of nature themselves or mysterious creatures, having all of pikmin just be "tests" by a giant coorporation would be straight up boring good video tho

Given what we see, I could argue that they created a bunch of species and let them loose and Olimar happened to crash land near there so they started Pikmin 4 from there with everything being half natural, half man made, heck I could even argue that the dog escaped from somewhere and was never meant to be found

This is the feeling I got too once I entered one of those aquarium caves. It seems much more like a lab rather than just a pretty decoration aquarium

It’s hinted at that the small people of Hocotate, Koppai, Giya, etc. are human descendants. That kind of breaks this theory.

Very creative. But this really is a "game theory" theory. A sort of "why do the blocks in Mario float?"-type beat lmao "Aliens exist! Let's force them to crash land on earth and make them travel obstacle courses while under threat of death from genetically altered mutants instead of just observing them in space or dissecting one to learn concrete facts about its biological make-up"

A simulation also explains how you can hop into a cave to end up in a room with windows and light shining through despite supposedly being underground and how good items seem to be fresh as though they were recently placed. Maybe they used a similar trick like in the movie “now you see me” where the antagonist uses a construction chute to hypnotize the protagonists, move them to a new location then put them through another chute to wake them up. Is this possible? Idk, it was just an interesting connection my mind made.

I think it's a different dimension personally. Like the humans are in the house, just in their own dimension. The barriers between the two are weak which causes some small items to slip over(treasures) or exist in both dimensions simultaneously. Time also likely works very differently in either of the dimensions and could even flow in different directions. When a dog slipped over it changed the timeline of the pikmin dimension drastically resulting in Pikmin 4. The water wraith is also said to be rooted in another dimension and can only brought over due to the purple pikmin's extradimensional gravitational waves. It could be a being that exists between dimensions.

Ive always assumed that some humans were still alive maybe like 99% dissapeared due to pikmin 2 the areas are accually reused expanded areas of pikmin 1 except the first and last area and stuff was definitely changed between the small time between 1 and 2 in the 3rd area a box of sand is in the spot were u laned your ship and onion but u land on the box this time also walls were put up were they weren't before in p1 and yes the house changing around between the events of olimar heading in there and the rescue corps going there to rescue him.

I always thought of Pikmin’s reasoning behind all of the mysterious crash landings was somewhat similar to Subnautica’s (Spoilers by the way), in that some form of technology is drawing in ships to keep something from leaving the planet. Perhaps, the Onions really are the reason, crashing nearby ships to convert their pilots and crew into permanent leaders for the Pikmin. Edit: I thought of something else. Olimar consistently mentions in the Piklopedia that Onions potentially replicate the matter they absorb, and change themselves and their associated Pikmin. Perhaps, by having captains transformed into leaders for the Pikmin, the Onions are attempting to speed up this evolutionary process using them as catalysts. Perhaps the Onion is attempting to evoke a way to leave the planet.

I prefer to believe that the humans became the wraiths/goolix’s, and another distant civilization more inline with our protagonists created the pikmin, the onions and the mamuta, but your theory is pretty good all things considered.

I really enjoy this theory and was something I had not thought about. My own personal "theory" i guess, its kinda dumb, but it is a game developed by Olimar's son. He loves video games after all and could become a developer.

I think the problem with this theory is that, if the rest of humanity were still there, then they would certainly be detected by all the signals and broadcasts that our civilization throws out constantly.

I have a theory that pikmin 4 takes place in a different universe than the others and it has a different story but still in the pikmin multiverse and also great theory dude

i think this is the best explanation: the plasm wraith restored the planet to what it looked like before the humans left to lure them back the goolix, foolix, water wraith, and plasm wraith are different parts of the same being it gets its power from humans, thats why it cared for olimar and why it hasnt killed anyone it also causes all the crashes and wants everyone to stay on the planet in pikmin 1 there was only the goolix, very weak, olimar was the only one on the planet in pikmin 2 there was the water wraith, stronger, olimar, louie, and the president were on the planet, in pikmin 3 there was the plasm wraith, with the power to create fake enemies , olimar louie and the koppaites were on the planet in pikmin 4 there are many water wraiths and the foolix, there are tons of people on the planet so theres lots of water wraiths to stop their escape

Humanity thrived during the last Ice Age using tools & intellect to hunt Large Animals. With modern technology we can easily thrive in a frozen world. Supposing humanity abandoned Earth or we had a Dr Stone incident it would take a few decades for modern well made structures to crumble under the force of nature.

@WaterKirby1994 what I mostly meant by an ice age is that if humanity went away, it would be followed by an ice age due to all the heat that humans give off going away, and then that would be followed by a mass extinction because so many things cannot survive without humans. (Crops --> Bugs --> Small animals --> Big animals --> near everything)

@@pikminfan123_ More species would benefit from the absence of humans than those that would be harmed by our no longer existing. You'll be surprised by how many species were driven to extinction or near that point just from human actions. Also if humanity vanished tomorrow it would take several decades for temperatures to fall back to what they should be. Of course there will someday come a point in which our sun ends all life on Earth at which point humans will be needed for things to survive.

Shepherd’s ancestors are human! So that would mean that they’re doing a simulation on humans, I think this rabbit hole goes a lot deeper than Raggins had anticipated! But I’ll leave that open ended for now…

They always land near the same areas, right? I feel like there was a recent nuclear leak or explosion, and the local populace noped the fuck out/were evacuated somewhere. Everything electrical still has power and the water is still running, and the Hocatae are less than an inch tall. They experience time differently, and by nature are capable of reaching closer to light speeds due to their lack of mass compared to us and our tech. So its likely that Pikmin 1-3 takes place within about 7 months, since Pikmin 1 had Olimar missing for about a single month, and its been a few in Pikmin 4 iirc

The Game NEVER mentioned that Pikmin takes place in a World after Humans. Only Shigeru Miyamoto suggested this in interviews, and he is known to just straight-up lie about the lore in his games to mess with the fans who obsess over "Word of God," as Miyamoto makes an effort to minimize his stories' complexity as much as possible.

i just saw a great theory from Invizeron about how all the people in pikmin are descendants of modern humans they left the planet to escape nuclear war i disagree with his explanation for why the humans are smaller he says they shrunk themselves but i think its just because they adapted to their environments koppaites can breath oxygen but koppai has less oxygen than pnf-404 so they still have to wear suits

In the logs for one of the puzzle pieces, Olimar says that the dogs in the photo look familiar probably because of ancient memories in his genome, meaning that Nintendo is trying to imply that the "humans" (like Olimar) are dependents of Earths humans. Furthermore if you look at the shepherd family history, you can see that the first rescue core captain is the one that left earth. There have been 99 Shepherd family leaders leading the game meaning it has been a looooong time since they've been to earth. Perhaps something has been maintaining earth or maybe it has to do with what caused the humans to leave or, perhaps, Nintendo does't care and there is no good answer 😢.
