PIKE FISHING WITH LURES - Big River Pike Hunt (Part 1)

Спорт

Join me out on the bank Pike fishing with lures. I'm on the river and hoping to catch a big pike before the end of the river season. I start off by fishing with lures and deadbait, but quickly revert to lures as I tackle a new section of river.
I use a range of lures including shadteez and spiky shads. Really enjoyed filming this one and I cannot believe I've left it so long to create another pike video.
In part two I'll be using lures that you have recommended .... so definitely keep an eye out for that one.
Thanks for checking it out!

I have to say I’ve learnt so much from your videos definitely improved my fishing skills and I’m so glad you make videos like that because you’re the best who we can learn from 😊☺️ ( i was only carp angler I never liked perch and pike just begging with it since September this year and I quite enjoy my fishing now better than just for one fish 🐟 i was boring with it already but now I started to like everything

Nice tips. Quick tip on keeping warmer. Anywhere on the body that has veins close to the surface needs properly wrapping up and keeping warm .Neck first as the jugular feeds the blood to the brain, then wrists and ankles as again the blood cools fast being close to the surface before it reaches ya fingers n toes. Try it it works a treat, I've fished in -10 all day without gloves.

I seriously can't wait for the ice to melt already. Im an American who moved to Siberian Russia and I started fishing here got addicted to fishing for pike and perch here in local lakes. My lakes have been frozen since October 😭 its so sad for me seeing videos where winter looks like spring 😂😂 Awesome catches

Big fish take small lures, small fish take big lures. Its a game of average size. For a bigger average size and the odd real lump my favourites are the SG 22cm river roach or SG 40cm real eel. Both very natural in appearance and very easy to fish but absolutely deadly! The river roach in the dirty roach pattern has been a revelation on the rivers fished where there are a lot of chub👍

Great vid, still ice fishing for them here. I find that once the water warms up a bit, covering more ground with a lure will usually out produce deadbaits. My favorite is long rocky shores, if I can cover a couple kilometers of rocky shore post spawn I'll almost always hook up with a real nice pike somewhere. I like to use a Williams spoon with the treble switched to a single, then I can use various plastic trailers to fish it at a different speed or depth, or even as a topwater.

Great vid! I honestly find bigger lures work better in the winter, just seems to make sense that if a pike is going to expend energy to take a meal in the winter it should be a worthwhile one, but who knows 😂

Nick - great vid as usual and some lovely looking Pike. Love lure fishing - but my local water banned it (Carp Lake) - had some great sessions with up to 10 Pike a go (nothing spectacular, jacks and scraper doubles) - but such fun! Now? - I can only deadbait. I've had bigger pike utilising the method so I believe you should still persevere with it - method may just need 'tweaking' as you have suggested. Roll on Part 2!😁😁😁

@@Lifeonthebank Nick - I know - real gutter for me. Apparently, a very large carp got 'damaged' by being foulhooked on a lure - but that can happen anywhere and was obviously by accident. But the lake owners are so 'Carp orientated', that they acted immediately. I understand it to a point - fish welfare is paramount - but it's still an accident... I therefore decided to change the tactic and fish a sprat 'sink and draw' (it's still a deadbait!) - it's not a 'lure' persace, but does pretty much the same job. Not so many pike caught per session, but the average size increased massively much to my immense and happy surprise!

My biggest ever pike was 31lb 7oz. Yet, that 1 ate the 7lb pike I was bringing in. Took it as I was popping the landing net in the water. Sure as hell woke me with a startle, as I was stud in the water waist deep. But sure got out fast lol 😆
