CHUB AND BARBEL FISHING - NEW RIVER SEASON 2021
Спорт
YES, at last it's the river season - 16th June and you're joining me for my first few sessions of the new river season. We're going Chub and Barbel Fishing on the Lea and the River Ouse. We face a few challenges but manage to overcome these and catch some fantastic river fish.
We look at Barbel and Chub tackle, tactics and bait but on this one we mainly just focus on having an amazing time on the river.
I really hope you've enjoyed some amazing fishing in the opening weeks of the season. Thanks as always for checking out the video :)

Oh wow! Thanks and welcome to the channel 😁👍
Great vidio, fortunately i get up earlier then Mr Marsh as i once got a swim he wanted depicted on this . Have to try the Ouse myself.
Thanks for the advice! We have just uploaded our most recent video all about 'chasing chub' and catching some surprises along the way. You'll see in the video that your tips went a long way to improving my fishing! Thanks again

Was buzzing for this one Nick! What a start! 🐟 I used to fish the Great Ouse years ago for Chub and Barbel but it’s not what it once was. Would love to see you go after an elusive Great Ouse Barbel, I know they’re in there somewhere!

Great fishing video, I think I would have been quicker to throw a heavy ground sheet over the nettels and walk over the top 😀 tight lined

THANKS!! Travelling light, wasn’t carrying a heavy groundsheet or larger tools. It’s a spot I’ll revisit so I don’t mind spending a bit of time trimming it. 👍
At 2.28 Why not just fold the nettles over with your foot then walk on them? Great video really enjoyed it.

A fair comment! 🤣 Although I do know that I’ll return to that spot so don’t mind doing it properly. Glad you enjoyed the video mate! 👍👍🙏
Just ordered some new Korum kit for the Wye. It's a Sammie red light then?

Hey nick hows things, Iv been looking forward to this one brilliant sessions n some awesome fish. When you see them like that it's worth giving them the rest isn't it. I'm still after my first chub but I'm on the crack baits atm. Do you think this approach would be better for this time of year rather than lures?
@Lifeonthebank
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I’ve been doing some crankbait fishing for the chub recently. It’s awesome when the smash it in top water! 👍😂😂

Hi I'm v new to fishing barbel fishing is this really the method u use lead then loose feed over the top. I'm sick of blanking this season. Also r them boilies good choice code red. Ive tried everything other than dynamite. Still blanking. Any advice b v much appreciated. Great video

Try the pellet-o’s from Sonubaits on the hair, feed 8mm pellets (try and gauge the flow so they land near the hookbait). I find that this works well if they’ve seen a lot of big baits, like meat.
Nick iv made up my mind. I'm going to trot a float down the river on Sunday. Any tips or advice for yourself or anyone for that matter, will be more than welcome. I'm biggest question I think would be. Do I plump the depth there's alot of weed about atm as you well know. Or should I think about a ledger or bolt rig? ( thought if made my mind up loo)
@Lifeonthebank

Hard to say without being actually on the bank. If there’s a lot of weed you might be better off trotting. You can start deep, and then keep making it slightly shallower until it trots down in the flow without getting caught up.
