I love her kitchen, especially those drawers! However all I can think about with my toddlers is a flour/sugar disaster happening lol 😂

My ex husband was a baker, he told me the trick to pie crust is don't overwork the dough ( it's not tortillas).
I’ve always made it just like this! I had to show my mother how to do it! And now she doesn’t buy crust anymore! She couldn’t believe her child taught her something about baking! Lol
When you make your own you can add sugar(s), herbs, and/or spices to match or complement the filling.
Your videos are so funny and informative. Keep up the great work!

I’m buying premade crust because never once in my life have I had a homemade crust that tasted good. It’s all been bland, the only difference is texture in my experience. You make a video about a tasty crust recipe I’ll check it out. You make a video about an easy crust recipe, I’m betting that final pie is just as good as one with a premade crust, at least for me. To each their own though.

@@zachsdickDOTmpg Go to Nana's Cookery. It's a lady called Gloria Donahue and she makes a pie crust that's just flour, oil and cold water. No mixer, no food processor.
This is MUCH more work than buying store-bought!

Do you have a video touring your favorite/unique things in your kitchen? How do you store everything??
I have watched many cooking, baking channels so we did this wway back in the day with NO food processors all was done as I do it to this day, taught mi kidz by hand!!!

How to prevent the pie dough to crack? It is so hard to work with and roll out. Is there any trick to make it easier?

@Luckypanda1 I have an old Tupperware rolling pin you fill up with water and freeze. Keeping your dough semi moist, not too much though, and letting the dough rest in the fridge to relax the gluten for about 30 minutes before rolling it out helps with the cracking and shrinkage I never used pre-made pie dough, because it's not very good. Time and practice make perfect.👍😃

Was given a few excellent pie crust recipes. I do it all by hand, no food processor, no Instant Pot, no pantry, no mud room, no laundry room, no craft room and still make everything work. This lady is beautiful and knows her her craft. Could watch her all day. ❤

I have joint pain and mobility issues so I learned. Cut the butter and lard/shortening while it's at room temperature/fridge cool into cubes, that way you can easily add them to the food processor. No need to do battle with the knives. I also used a wine bottle with cold water in it to roll out the crusts because I couldn't handle the rolling pin. And my hands get really hot. I make 1 deep dish and one regular apple pie, and 1 pumpkin pie if I'm well enough to cook. Work smarter, not harder. ❤

Recipe (for myself): 1 1/2 c all purpose flour 1 pinch salt 1/4 c cold unsalted butter (cut into. nubs) 1/4 c cold veg shortening (cut into nubs) 2-3 Tbsp ice cold water (slowly add until comes together) Mix, form, flatten, cover in plastic wrap, place in refrigerator 1 hour

I use butter and real lard. Makes the best flakey crust.

Lard will make the crust even flakier.

Lard is the only acceptable fat for like crust.
A different way to make pastry, will have to give this a try.
I don't know if it's the way she cooks or the way she looks, but I like this woman❤️
