Épicure | Michelin Three Stars | $450 10-Course Tasting Menu
Epicure is a three-starred Michelin restaurant situated in Le Bristol Paris and is considered one of the best restaurants in Paris.
Nicolas Sarkozy often visited this restaurant and counted Epicure among his favorite haunts.
Chef Éric Fréchon is the man behind the scene and he has produced many masterpieces. One is stuffed Marconi with black truffle, another being the famous bladder chicken - chicken stuffed with truffle, then pouched in a beef bladder for four hours.
During my visit I was presented with the 20-year anniversary tasting menu, gathering the finest signature dishes that marked these twenty years.

The servers were initially very discreet but as they realized you wanted to know more about the dishes they explained them enthusiastically! Great video!

You will never understand, not refined and ignorant. It is not about the food industry but about gastronomy. The first Michelin guide was published in 1905 it does not date from yesterday. At the time it gave advices to the travelers on the restaurants, Since then he has given stars to locate the degree of interest. But that escapes the eaters of Mc donalds.
I went here in late April, same menu as you. The signature macaroni and chicken is to die for
Thank you so much keep up the good work this is exactly what I had been searching for for months, to eat such fine food and so I can imagine/dream about what gourmet food is or tastes like.

I feel as though I have just had a tour of an "exquisite food" art gallery--each tantalizing menu item a wonderful canvas framed by the dinnerware. May I also add what a treat to see a restaurant that actually uses silverware in this day and age. It takes dining to another level. Bravo to the waitstaff who, in my opinion, were attentive and knowledgeable. What an amazing experience. Bon Appetit! Darryl

I have been to a number of 3-stars in different countries, and the food here was by far the most disappointing, in terms of the food. And I am partial to French cuisine, living in the country for part of the year.
@adriennetse8474

@Nick Mihopoulos Despite their menu being rather uninspired, I wanted to take my sister to her first Michelin 3-star when she visited me in France and happened to select this restaurant. Years later, I can't even recall any standout dishes (if you go to restaurants like Paul Bocuse's or Maison Pic, there will certainly be dishes that make a lasting impression). Apart from those that were less pleasant, that is... I had ordered a crab dish and found that there were bits of crab cartilage that had somehow gotten onto my plate. Being a teacher, I politely brought this to the attention of our server, suggesting that their kitchen pay attention to an important detail like that in the future. As I did not want to finish the dish, he took it into the kitchen to show the staff there, after apologizing, of course. To make it up to me, the server kindly offered me what he informed me was a signature dish with squid ink. This was unpalatable and I also could not get through it, as it had an unpleasant mushy texture and did not taste of much. We had many courses of a dégustation menu and the rest of the meal was fine, competent, if not exciting. As we had consumed a fair bit of food, we turned down the server's offer of dessert, but he insisted that we at least have something sweet, boasting of the superb macarons that the restaurant makes. And there, he went a bit too far. My sister and I happen to enjoy macarons and after a number of trips to Paris, knew of all the best places to have them. I will simply state that Épicure is not a place that makes an even half-decent macaron. We regretted agreeing to even a single macaron each and it was a disappointing way to terminate a meal. Now, I am not someone who has extreme opinions, and I am sure that plenty of people would enjoy a meal at this restaurant. But such a meal comes at a significant price, and in my opinion, your hard-earned money is better spent elsewhere. There are plenty of more modest restaurants in Paris that are affordable and delicious. If you are going to splurge, I would suggest doing so elsewhere (preferably in another French city) and do your research, especially if you don't have money to burn and actually have a refined palate. (I actually don't consider myself to have one, next to my husband who can taste absolutely everything in a dish and is about as severe as the critic in the film Ratatouille - thank goodness he did not join us for dinner...not that he would have wanted to, after looking at just the menu.) Finally, although I love fine-dining and all the discoveries that attend the experience, I dislike encounters with very pretencious staff or clients. When I arrived at the Bristol neatly dressed in my perfectly fitted designer jeans (I also dislike skirts and was travelling), the doorman enquired where we were going and suggested that my jeans might not be appropriate for the restaurant. He was incorrect, as I expected, and the staff at Épicure were, fortunately, more pleasant with their paying customers. Just my own experience, which took place a few years ago. By all means try it for yourself, but please don't eat macarons there!
Thanks I enjoyed!!

Maybe one day I eat in this restaurant . Look Amazing .
Well, I can imagine, that you would even enjoy it more, when you keep some of the European table manners in mind. It’s not difficult. For example with deserts : put a tiny bit with the spoon on the fork and that into your mouth. When you eat liquids with a spoon, get the bottom of the spoon stripped over the rim of the cup or soup plate, then it won’t drip. Don’t talk with something in your mouth nor smack. Don’t allow your head coming to the cutlery but the cutlery to your head. Last but not least: use the edges of your napkin and dab your mouth when you have got the feeling, that there might be something on your lips and always before you drink. Don’t get me wrong, I bet, that a lot of people fall back into their own customs when they are confronted with cuisines from other cultures and it could be regarded as odd. Take it as a friendly feedback to enhance all the experiences that are waiting for you in the future! 😉 Thank you for sharing a wonderful restaurant and an obviously overwhelming multiple course meal in a stunning location.

@cyrill3000

Well, I personally don’t think, that it is elitist to support a person with information that is a part of the communication. To enlarge the conscience, to learn and to support for avoiding misunderstandings are the best chances to improve. Before haters start to look down on people with a different background, it is just meant as a constructive way of offering a decision to an approach with the „how“ that is intrinsically to the topic. At the end of the day, it’s Fufskis decision, how to deal with it and I bet, he got it right. He is doing something very beautiful, he goes to the best restaurants of the world and gives an impression of the atmosphere and what you can enjoy there. It is wonderful, that he shares the experience and thrills me much more than poor videos about unboxing Rolex watches.

@@JudgeDredd888 He has no table etiquette nor is he "classy". I am pretty sure you are talking about how a gentleman should act in a restaurant. Well, no gentleman would go with a haircut like this to a restaurant. Imagine if you had a partner and went to a restaurant with her like this. It would actually be disrespectful. I'm also not sure what he's doing that is especially great etiquette, for example the book and camera on the table seems sloppy, and the bags should be stored elsewhere, it's clutter. I also didn't hear too many thank you's and I prefer a bit more banter and fun with the staff. That said, as somebody who does go to Michelin starred restaurants, there's no dress code in most of them. I often am quite scruffy as it's how I feel most comfortable, whilst my wife likes to dress up. You don't need a suit because if you're spending $500 a head to eat, you don't need to impress nobody with what you wear. I am also quite honest with my feedback. Twice I've given feedback along the lines of "I was a bit disappointed with", or "I wasn't sure what x bought to the plate". On both occasions a new dish was presented without any fuss, not because I asked or even expected, but because these guys expect you to love every bite. Be polite and respectful, tip if you can and you're impressed, and otherwise enjoy the evening.

Vista Pri, please don't copy his table etiquette. It's actually quite bad. He doesn't hold or use his utensils properly, stuffs his mouth with large amounts of food, bites pieces off chunks of food held up on his fork, takes out his cell phone at the table, etc, etc.

Information about the dish you’re eating is too small and hard to read. It is also extremely hard to hear the explanation of the waiters or your opinion on the dish.
@Fufski
5 жыл бұрын
Most of the sequences containing the speaking was filmed using a Sony RX100 which has no external microphone jack so the internal audio quality in that environment setting is abysmal. The waiters’ accent further exacerbated the difficulties in understanding the conversation. However, I have manually added English captions that you can turn on to help you understand. It took me quite some effort to figure out what he was saying by playing through the conversation with monitor headset on multiple times.

Thank you for sharing this tasting menu. I would never be able to experience it because of location and price. Thoughts: Brief yourself on the tasting menu in advance to avoid appearing inexperienced, asking too many redundant questions, allowing you to focus on the tasting experience vs. "What is this?" I was embarrassed for you in some parts of the video because of this. Don't film yourself - filming yourself (sort of weird mirror thing?). Allow someone to film you while you interact with your viewers about the experience you are about to embark. Finally, aside from your filming partner, have someone join you and discuss the wonderful culinary experience you're having.
