Well explained .Only issue i have is PP10 i 4K is great on the Sony TV ,kicks in as it should . But transferring 8 bit HLG to You Tube is a failure . Just can not work out a workflow to get the You Tube hdr to kick in . Only have a rx100 M7 so only 8 bit

Really really good video! But I am trying to get to the picture profile options in the menu on my A7 IV. It would be great if this video started with navigating to that part of the menu. Its harder to find than I think it should be.

I'm going to go out on a limb, but I'd say 'PP 11'. It could be customized, but straight out of the camera, it will provide a pleasing image. Plus, it saves time - no Post required.

For a idiot like me that knows very little you guys were great to explain this to me. Now I know what PP's are and why they exist ...... Thank you. 😊

Yes, add a S between the A and the 7 of your camera.

He said it in the video. PP1 is designed for videos. PP2 is designed for still images. Therefore, use PP1 for videos and PP2 for pictures.

PP? couldn't use other names?

My prob is on Sony a7iv if I’m in video and enable pp11 when I quick switch back to stills it’s still in pp11 I don’t want that because I’m shooting raw.

When shooting in raw it doesn't pay attention to any picture profile you have set.

@@KNOWNSTUDIO-8K-Walking-Tours This is incorrect. When shooting RAW with an S-LOG picture profile, the GAMMA is affected. Best to use different settings for video and photos (late model Sony cameras support this).

I always felt scared about video and put everything in full automatic, log footage and strange words like that seems frightening, but not anymore:-) Please continue explaining these horrible words for dummies like me :-)

You'll learn, dw 😄 Take it slowly, watch a bunch of KZread videos about the topics you feel intimidated to get into, and you'll soon be using those words like saying cheese sandwich 🥪 😉 Btw, I'm gonna be explaining log footage and how to grade it on Wednesday. @@8lec_R Hey 8lec, I promise you KZread's up to something with this - I looked at the tab containing all the comments "Held For Review" by the AI (to release them for publish) and couldn't even find any of your comments!

In 24/7 LIVE studio environment with controlled lighting and no post-process streaming, our standard is to use PP2.

This videos way too short for this subject but good head start for most people like me.

I feel like the "still" color mode is one of the best for video on sony cameras and almost no one uses it.....

I use PP5, but only because mu Sony A6600 does not have PP11

I'm a big fan of your channel, but I really thing you should have not called the profiles "PP1, PP2, etc." The PP slots are just that... slots. They're not actually picture profiles like Rec.709 or S-Log2, S-Log3, etc. You can change PP1 to be S-Log3 if you want.

No. PP means picture profile. But you can still customize them depending on your environment.

I use PP10 for real estate

Questions from a rank beginner - 1) Can I use PP3 straight out of camera with zero post production? 2) Can I shoot a talking head video in PP10 with HLG2 and Color Mode 709 and use that footage straight out of camera without any post production (color grading or correction or applying any LUTS)?

Ps! As a non-native English user I find it difficult to understand what your assistant says. He should speak slower and more pronounced.

KZread allows you to slow down the video and you can turn on subtitles.
