Another very interesting and informative video. Your carved stone looked excellent. I know it must be difficult in terms of time but I really hope you continue with these videos. I’m really enjoying them and learning lots.

I've wondered for some time if perhaps something acidic was used at any point in Pictish stone carving (or even later with grave slabs and whatnot).

Clear concise approach to carving the stone. The explanation of what the stones are seemed a little muddled but only a little. I am not sure there would be a better way to explain it.

Can your work truly compare? How do you know that that is the epitome of their power and heritage? Terrible ignorant.

@Mik a of course my effort doesn't compare - I'm not a master stonemason! This video is primarily intended to outline the current theories behind the Pictish symbols. The second half is some fun to encourage people to engage with the history. The Northern Picts project at the University of Aberdeen is currently doing some excellent work on lifting the veil on the Picts and interpreting their culture through excavation, however over the passage of time a great deal of evidence has been lost. The Pictish symbol stones are the stand-out survivor of this distinctive people and their culture. With so much of their context lost, their meaning - and significance - is open to interpretation, which this video has broadly aimed to lay out.
