Today we will visit the Pico do Arieiro viewpoint, which is 1818 meters high, it is the third highest peak on the island of Madeira. It is highly recommended to climb to the top of this mountain to enjoy the great beauty of the volcanic landscape and spectacular views above the clouds.
Along the way, you will have the feeling of traveling to a different world as you ascend, as the green forests that cover most of central Madeira give way to a much wilder and more bare, highland landscape. This sensation is intensified by the cloud belt that is observed when reaching 1,200 meters.
The colors that predominate in this area are violet, ocher and chocolate brown, which are intensified by the red and orange rays of sunset or the pink light of sunrise.
If you are fit and you like to go hiking, you can walk the path that connects Pico do Areeiro with Pico Ruivo, the highest peak in Madeira.
