Pickman Fold - trim, tidy, and fully adjustable easy flat diaper fold

This is a fold I came up with in my quest for a padfold that could be pinned or snappi’d, for a trim, absorbent fit under either wool or PUL covers. It’s completely adjustable in width and rise, so you can even make a small flat fit a toddler, easily adding absorbency! At the request of many cloth mamas in FB groups (who have named it the Pickman Fold...which makes me feel quite honored and my husband so very very proud - I’m pretty sure it’s always been his life’s dream to have a diaper fold with his family name 😂), I have made a little video to share with all of you awesome fellow clothers! Enjoy!

Been using this fold since the early 70's when my first son was born. I was still using it until l retired from my daycare job in 2016. It's great that cloth nappies/diapers are still being used today. Go you good mums.

Hi My mum used this fold for me and my brother who is now 40. In our country we only have disposables for about 25 years. Here everyone used this fold from newborns to toddlers. Its good that you invented it again becouse its very easy and really adjustable.

This was supper popular when I started flats with my baby at the time a couple of years ago, and I am coming around to trying it this way? Ya sold me on no poop in the folds to contend with!

Thank you so much! This is my favorite fold to try so far. I’m branching out to flats after using prefolds because my baby is in between size 1 and 2 prefolds for the brand I started with. This one is so adaptable and efficient. My mnemonic for remembering it is “Two mountains, one big, one little. The little one goes in and then out. The big one follows and goes back out.”

This isnt new. Sorry. Its a fold that i used after learning it from another video about 12 years ago. I think the nappy lady also has this fold example in her videos. That being said this is like the spear- independently reinvented without outside influence all over the world. You figured it out all by yourself! And then shared your knowledge just as people have all over the world forever. I think thats so awesome. Well done.

Hey, um, a lady who uses disposables told me that if the explosion happens away from home, you have to carry dirty diapers around in a bag with you, however many they soil. How do you handle flatfolds on the go, or are they more like lockdown diapers?
