Thanks to Tom Fawkes, I also learned you can just not grab the egg right then. Seriously, you can grab it right before the Armored Harriers and then the timer starts from then to when you lose. Procastinating works here.

Turns out it's even easier than that. In the remake at least, I tried to fight them first and then went to get the egg afterwards, it hatched without me having to go and lose again

So that's how it works! Glad to finally have that mystery solved. I'ma be rockin the Red Yoshi in the remake!

@@MirrorHall_Clay yeah but this isn’t a “feature” like supercharge is, it’s how the game is coded. The game is being made from scratch in this remake, so the way it’s coded may change, that’s all I’m saying. But then again, they could keep it consistent, no way to tell until it comes out I guess.

I love Daisy just cssually being modded in lol. I really hope she makes her paper mario debut soon!

Side note: that shine sprite doesn’t require the ultra boots actually, there’s a hidden block right under it if you hammer and I didn’t know that until like 2 years ago and I have played this game my whole life lol

Ah. My first one was a green one, then I got two red ones, and my next 2 playthroughs I got blue ones. Named my most recent one Legato. Also Christ I need more Lucky Star..

You also don't have to get the egg until right before the fight if you want one of the early time colors.

I love that they all have slightly different hair

The white Yoshi reminds me of Mallow from Super Mario RPG, which is why I would probably be patient for it.

Holy shoot, you also mod TTYD too! I'd like to play the game one day with that Daisy mod. I always disliked how there is no Yellow Yoshi, as that is my favorite color. Thought the White one might suffice.

Fun fact, you dont have to get the egg till right before the fight. So if you want like a red yoshi, you can just pick him up 2 fights before the fight.

Anyone else find it funny that the pig was going to cook the exotic Baby Yoshi egg?

It's pretty cool that you can get a different color Kid Yoshi depending how much times passes from when you get the Kid Yoshi egg to when you get back from being defeated by the armor harriers! That Blue Yoshi looks really cool!

You can also queue it up so that you lose to the cleft bros before adding the egg to your party, so if you want any of the early Yoshis, you don't have to loop it around. The yoshi hatches immediately after you use the gba to start a ranked match against the cleft bros for the second time.

I always heard about the File Name mechanic but I learned it wasn't true when I made new files with the same name and got different colors.

​​@@jepr91you might not have done it right, the name trick is Case sensitive and it's supposed to be in all lowercase. Also I'm pretty sure the color of the Yoshi is actually going off the color on his back and not his actual skin color. It's always worked for me

It worked when I named my file "green" back in the day

I actually did this to make sure I got the rare black coloured Yoshi! Thing is, since you only have a minute to actually get the black (and by extension, white) coloured ones, and I wanted to make the colour influencing process as painless as possible, I ended up waiting until right before the fight against the Iron Harriers, set a timer on my phone the moment I got the egg, and then tried to speedrun the fight. Thing is, since I was so prepared ahead of time, I ended up having a ton of time left to wait out before I could run from the fight, thus ending the timer and triggering the cutscene where you get Mini. I ended up doing little chores around my room and cleaning up, all while constantly checking the timer. But since that only shaved about 5-6 minutes, I opted to try and read something on my phone - I would’ve probably watched KZread, but I was so worried about getting distracted and going over the timer, I opted against it. Ironically, I basically ended up watching the timer count down the final minute, controller in hand. Fortunately, I did get the black one the first try, but man did it feel way longer than ~20 minutes lol On a semi related note, one small thing I’d love to see in the remake is for the Yoshis that appear during Mini’s Stampede skill be tweaked so that depending on the colour they have, the summoned Yoshis will also be that same colour rather than just always being the default green. I know it’s such a small thing, but I really think it’d be such a nice little touch that would help make playthroughs with different colours be even more memorable! That, and it’ll finally stop the aesthetic obsessed part of my brain from grumbling about the colours not matching lmao

You did too much work and a lot of room for error. There’s a way to do it you don’t even have to enter the fight for the second time yet to get your yoshi color Fight straight through each rank to get to 10 without ever leaving the building at all. If you leave the building it will trigger the yoshi egg, fight the armor twins without going outside once, then run from them, go outside, save before yoshi and then set a stopwatch for desired time, I did 18 mins for black yoshi, then go to the gameboy to pick a fight and just before you get off the call with the headhoncho stay on that screen without clicking anything for the next 15 or so mins and then once your stopwatch hits your desired time, click A to continue and then yoshi will appear right on schedule

I named my pink one "Pepto", short for Pepto Bismol 💀

Since the remake will be my first time playing it and i will be exploring and enjoying the game, im just gonna naturally play and get whichever one i end up getting

So, been playing through the remake, and I knew this so I was originally shooting for either red, blue, or black. But since I was hanging out with some friends in a call I totally lost track of the time. Ended up lucking out and got blue in the end.

I didn't know there were so many colors, I've only gotten the green, red and blue yoshi in the original game.

You can pick your Yoshi color by naming your save file that color

Characters like Daisy, DK and Wario should absolutely be in a Mario RPG though, Paper or otherwise, I feel like those games are perfect for fleshing out how exactly the relationship works between Mario/Peach and them and how their home turfs are connected. Are Peach and Daisy super close or more like colleagues that have to interact? Who even lives in Sarasaland besides her? How do Sarasaland citizens look? Is Wario still that mad about Mario and where exactly is Diamond City in relation to the Mushroom Kingdom? Are Mario and DK chill? Maybe, but Mario and Cranky probably aren’t. How does Luigi interact with Diddy, and does he care about Waluigi at all? We only ever have them together in Spinoff Games with barely any dialogue. And no, DK in the movie is not enough, that’s a whole separate canon.

Oh cool I didn't even know that Princess Daisy made appearances in any of the Paper Mario games!?

I found a way to consistently get the black Yoshi, at least how i llayed when i was a kid. As soon as I got the egg I'd go do the fight pits and rested imbetween each fight consistently until he hatched.

I loved the original and I haven’t really felt anything for this remake until this video that has somehow totally ignited the hype for this to come back

You can also name your save file the color you want. That’s how I got my blue and black Yoshis.

Didn't remember wjat color mine was when i first played, but i remember Champ's hair for some reason. Didn't think it changed between colors, so now i know mine was blue

It’s a Paper Daisy Mod. Unfortunately she’s not playable normally so you’ll have look it up on Gamebanna.

I remember my brother said that whatever color you named the profile, you would get that color yoshi. We both did separate profiles with different colors and just happened to get those colors. An insane coincidence, but I'm glad it's just a timer

When I played through the game I got the default green. I had no idea there were colors other than what was on the box, so when my sis played through and she told me her's was blue, I was absolutely baffled and confused. It was a wild surprise for us both, haha. XD

looks like i will need to spend 9 to 11 minutes in that area so I can have a blue yoshi. and I am naming him blue. It's fitting because I love chris pratt, I love the mario movie, and I love the lego movie. So I think it fair since chris pratt did great as mario.

There's actually a bloc you can hit with the hammer to get that sun without the super jump (then sooner)

You guys can actually skip getting the egg early and fight the guys immediately, then after you flea, you get the egg. The "timer" wont end untill you match up again.this is hiw ibgot my shadow yoshi!
