Usually there are more wounded than dead, but not in this case. =) Military traditions are important! In the Russian army, generals have been "traveling for asterisks" for years. The general arrives at the front line for one day and sends soldiers to attack, and then receives a reward for his personal participation in capturing an enemy stronghold that no one needs. While conscripts served in the Russian army, it was almost always possible. However, currently there are contractors on the front line who have tremendous combat experience. Therefore, these generals get a "plywood star" instead of a "gold star".

@S W I think that's the point of the sanctions. China values western dollars more than Russia. Even in this war, I doubt the West truly cares about Russia or Ukraine. It's really a sanction flex to show China what will happen if they invade Taiwan which is a critical piece on the west's economy. We can live without oil, our top tech companies can't live without semi-conductors. This is to prevent the semi-conductor war, oil is last century.

US Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop-Grumman Lockheed-Martin and General dynamics quietly raked in billions of dollars from the slow-motion fiasco while the US taxpayers footed the bill. The US not only paid US soldiers to go over there but they also paid the Afghan soldiers MORE than US soldiers to fight there? Total cost was 2.26 trillion dollars 300 million dollars per day spent on this war for 20 years. 800 billion direct war fighting 269 billion US veterans 85 billion train the Afghan army 5 billion a year per in aid for Afghanistan 750 million for the Afghan soldier payroll So the US finds that it was cheaper to pay the Afghan army then actually send US soldiers there.

Washington wasn't democratically elected!" Yeah, there was a popular revolt and revolution, it's a messy process, the guy up to 2014 was DEFINITELY a dictator that callously killed his own people, and he was a Putin puppet. This is well known. In the end it isn't that complicated. People who are saying Russia has justification have no good reasoning behind such statements. Russia is an aggressor, and Putin's OWN public stated reasoning has nothing to do with democratic this or that. He says the reason he is invading is to "denazify" Ukraine, which is such obvious bullshit. There's nothing Nazi about Ukraine. Zelenski is a Jew and his family fought the Nazis. They will likely want to focus on increasing their military funding and training, better ammunition development and building of jets, anti-missile systems etc. The Ukrainian government, sadly, has only now seen what the West is and the fact that NATO was never planning to let them in so they will be smarter from here on out. They've been betrayed by Russia and America with the Budapest memorandum. So I won't even be surprised if they'd want to get their nuclear weapons back too.

Saw a rundown from someone that explained how Putin wants his military dumb and cowed so it would never pose a threat to him. Too much initiative was placing a target on that soldier, since Putin got rid of any potential popular leader to rally around, like he has his political opponents. So Putin's paranoia and corruption led to an ineffective army that can only advance with heavy losses and constant terroristic artillery.

  • @bigginsd1

@@makemap Putin had no roadblocks put up by his people or political system to stop him invading Ukraine. What you see as wussies not willing to make strong decisions could be seen as a system of checks and balances that stop crazed despots unilaterally going to war. Which is worse? 1) An all out war between NATO and Russia, possibly Nuclear, which rallies the Russian people in support of Putin. Or 2) Economic sanctions that cripple Russia’s economy, arming Ukrainians with incredible weaponry that is highly mobile like Javelin missiles to take out Russian tanks and expose their military as a paper Tiger, and the slow realisation by the Russian people that their leaders aren’t even admitting this is a war as their dead slowly return home? I think the USA is doing an incredible job of rallying the world, avoiding a direct hot war and economically crippling the Russian’s ability to wage war.

The speculation is Putin might try it to scare the West if he continues to lose. Remember the guy actually bombed his own people in the 1999 Russian apartment bombings in order to become president. The death of the Generals is amplified by the lack of self direction identified in the lower ranks. That is the opposite of what one German General observed about American soldiers: he found them one and all to believe they were the next General Patton, and that the old military ploy of killing the leaders didn't work the same with American soldiers. The Russian front line personnel lack any knowledge of the overall strategies involved or overall goals of the campaign. They also have no way of honestly conveying what they are seeing on the battle field to the command level personnel because they have been taught that 'thinking wrong' will get them punished.

The problem with this is that we don’t, Trump showed the way on how the country can be energy independent. The people see past this and they know the truth, boomerang. The [DS] is panicking in Ukraine, the stories are coming out that is the Ukrainian neo nazis that are responsible for the atrocities in Urkaine. The [DS] players are looting and trying to escape. The Hunter laptop is not going away and the evidence is going to be produced, this will lead to [JB]. The [DS] is preparing for a communication blackout.
