Well, I suppose it has to do with our pure, innocent, childlike soul and the nonsense of their "adulthood". If they act corrupt towards us, we should give them their lesson. Cut off the nonsense, don't initiate contact, let time pass by so that they take on their responsibility. I relate to everyone in this thread. I'm in a similar situation. I deeply care about him so much that I let him go on his own path and want him to be happy. Not only is there a third party between us he moved away for a job. So we haven't seen each other for a while. He reaches out every now and then and gives me hope that the connection indeed has been real.

I feel the same way. This was really true for my ex but I made an offer and tried a year ago. He went no contact so I pushed forward and focused on me and even started seeing someone several months later. I did my part so I’m not trying at all, it would have to be him making the effort etc. I’m open to it but I’m not starting anything.
