This reminds me of a pear relish I make. I'll add this to my binder to try. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Welcome to canning....and thank you! I was blessed with my families canning history....and also my husbands family who also canned. And I'm so happy that I can pass these things on to others!

Thank you for an actual recipe for this. I have some half written recipes because they don't offer the recipe's and you just watch them put a bunch of stuff in jars. I'm glad to be following your page.

Lorrie you always look so cute when you're canning, plus you always have a great encouraging attitude! Thanks for showing us a family recipe. This is probanly something my hubby John would like. My brain just had a glitch but i think you did 20min for pint times? (I'm up late bc I forgot to do the paperwork for Dr appt tmrrw, lol, so I saw your video pop up). Many Blessings to you all my friend! Love & hugs too! 🧡🧡

10 minutes for half pints, 15 minutes for pints. Would love to hear Johns opinion on it if you make some for him!! Roger loves it!! Of course it IS a piece of his history as this was his Moms recipe. He ate it on bologna sandwiches very often as a kid. She used to put this into her ground ham sandwich spread too....oh so good!! Me and my braids!! I'm to old for this hair, but I am reluctant to chop it off....and its the only way I can keep it out of our canned goods!! Lol!! Hope the doctor visit goes well for you today....and as always my sweet friend, that you for your ever supportive and kind comments!! You always make my day!! Big hugs, and many blessings to you!!

I've been learning about dry packing veggies for canning (partially from you) and wondered if you've ever done sweet potatoes? Would you blanch them first, or no?

If you choose to slip the skins off....blanching is the way to do that....I find peeling just like a regular potato however works just fine. Yes, I have dry packed them. The taste is great....but with sweet potatoes, they do tend to shink and kind of become a solid mass in the bottom of the jar. And of course please remember that sweet potatoes are done at a longer canning period that other types of potatoes....so a bit of browning does happen when dry packing also.
