If I lived near a Picard, I would spend far too much money there but never cook again. Everything is so beautiful, I couldn't believe the ice cream cake that looked like a stack of gifts. Fantastique!

The Holiday selection is particularly nice (and a time saver,) but typically, many French people use Picard products to add to recipes and cook anyway ;-)

Ah, yes! People in the USA often fantasize about 'French shopping' and 'French fresh cooking.' But the time I spent as a researcher in France made me realize that French have similar habits as Americains! You go for the cheap, easy, economical! Life is too fast and hard and expensive in Paris...and kitchens are small...

You want to be careful with this brand. Their labels are crazy, to say the least. They have a "vegetarian" range which is not vegetarian. For example, they sell a courgette, tomato and Feta cheese pie labelled "suitable for vegetarians" but in the Feta cheese the rennet comes from veals. When the label is not issued by the EU, don't come near it!

I once had a delicious "vegetarian" option in an Austrian works-canteen. "Mozarella wrapped in Parma Ham with roast veggies" I'm not vegetarian, but I did enquire - seemingly "There's not a lot of ham on it"

But in this case, Feta doesn't contain rennet but coagulant. And it 's registered in the liste of ingredients. In non organic prepared dishes, It's registered animal rennet

@@sylviebasyl2835 I beg to differ! Organic and vegetarian are two very different things. Coagulating agents can have different origins and on this very label, its origin is not specified. Same for the fresh cream. No mention of what agents are used to go from milk to cream. "Vegetarian" is not something you can slap willy-nilly. The labels need to be substantiated if the E.U. "V" logo is not used. I'm sorry to say that this brand, like many others, doesn't want to pay for the privilege of using the E.U. "V" logo because it would cost them money and restrict their brand's ability to sell not so vegetarian food.
