I found that to be so unique and beautiful indeed! I had never thought of doing anything like that, and it just makes the atmosphere of the wedding seem so intimate, and truly keeps the focus on Him.

Aww bless I hope if you’re married now it was the most perfect day for you both?! I married in 2012 it was my second marriage but my husband’s first. We didn’t have much money but because I’m a crafter and have always loved sewing I was able to do just about everything myself. With help from my Auntie we made my wedding dress similar to one I’d tried on for £800 mine was custom and cost £150. I had trained as a florist years before at evening classes so did all the bouquets buttonholes and reception flowers. I made all the invitations, service sheets, table place settings, made customised pincushions for each lady as wedding favours. We had our reception at a local village hall you paid a set price we had use of it from Thursday evening to set up the tables and chairs, they had all the crockery, cutlery, candlebras which sat on mirror plates and little votive candle holders. The hall had fairy lights strung across the ceiling and behind the top table a net of lights. I stitched 150 yards of bunting which I gave them after as I didn’t need it again. They had a fully stocked catering kitchen and bar, we paid for waiters and waitresses who were local young people from the village. We bought our own wine for the meal and cava for the toasts from a local supermarket when it was on offer, I got an £8 red for £4 a bottle and a £5 white for £2 a bottle and the cava was £15 down to £5 , then because it was the first time I’d ordered from them online I got a further £10 off and free delivery! When it came to the food, I was fortunate my nephew from my first marriage was a chef, I bought all the food and he and his friend made it all, we had a three course meal, homemade vegetable soup or fanned melon with forest fruits. Then a help yourself hot and cold buffet of meats, quiches, pies, salads everything you can think of. I made hot chocolate fudge cakes and from a local bakery we got catering size lemon crunch cheese cakes, coffee Renoir and homemade fruit salad followed by cheese and biscuits coffee and chocolate wedding cake which I made myself. My brother in law did our wedding video. I found a lady on eBay who was just starting out in the wedding business doing chair covers and sashes and she did us a fantastic deal as we were her first wedding! Because I’d been able to do so much myself it meant we could afford a few luxuries, we hired a car to get myself and the bridesmaids to the register office and then Church and to the reception. A friend of a friend was a DJ and gave us the disco at “ mates rates”. We had a professional photographer and hired a coach to get guests who wanted to use it to get to the reception which was 12 miles away. The return journey worked out at £4 each and meant everyone who wanted to drink was able to do so without having to worry about the cost of a taxi. My husband’s parents gave us the money for the reception food everything else we paid for and everything including the reception came to just over £4,000. The only thing we didnt have which we might have done was fireworks at the end of the night….but it wasn’t essential and although it was 23rd June…it felt more like winter! It was a cool damp day, typical British summer weather but it didn’t dampen the day at all. We had the most wonderful day with all our family and friends around us. Everyone enjoyed themselves ate and drank their fill and people still talk about the food and how wonderful it was! If you look on my profile picture it’s me and my hubby on our wedding day!
