Phylum Tardigrada: Water Bears and Moss Piglets

We finally arrive at the famous tardigrades! Members of phylum Tardigrada include the water bears that have been made famous in popular culture due to their extreme resilience. Despite how they are depicted in cartoons, they are Ecdysozoans, and thus closely related to arthropods like insects, so let's get a closer look at their morphology and characteristics.

Problem with the Tardigrades, is that despite being resistent to many things, most of it is not the usual cause of death for tardigrades, that is of course their predators, and tardigrades do not have good defense mechanisms against them which is pretty ironic.

Hello Professor Dave, I love your show! Water Bears are so weird looking! I think it's really cool to make all of these amazing creatures with crisper, but I think that it might be dangerous if one of them excapped from its confines. Has one ever retired a human by mistake? How do you know what is a safe and acidproof. fence? I saw this movie where this alien had acid for blood so that when it got shot up by all of America's best guns the acid would fly out and land on the space marines. I once asked the big hollywood star whose name I will not repeat and she didn't answer my question no matter how polite I was and I even lied about how great of an actress she was. Some people are just too important for an American tax paying citizen. Thanks Dave, bye now
