Fantastic Explanation of this tool... i bin using PS for a long time and even i learnt a few shortcuts etc with Pen tool 5/5 would recomend this tut to anyone (and have)

Does a pattern created with the pen tool loose image quality if you end up using it later for something where you have to scale it larger?

I'd use Illustrator for creating tattoos of this style. You can resize them without the pixelation in Photoshop, also it creates a better result.

Yes I agree but these types of tattoo are fairly simple and could be recreated using image trace in AI.

I hate photoshop because everything is harder than it needs to be.
