Bluring backgrounds in Photoshop can improve your photos quite a bit and is easier than you might think, especially with Photoshop neural filters.
0:29 Separate Subject & Background
For a nicely blured background I first want to separate the subject from the background and put it on its own layer (just to have a save, nondestructive Photoshop workflow here).
First, I duplicate the image (STRG + J) then, I use the first layer as the background layer. Here, I remove the subject using a simple selection and the content aware fill. It doesn't need to be precise really. Then, on the top layer I make another subject selection and use a layer mask to remove the background.
3:06 Bluring the Background
Unter the filter menue in Photoshop we head into the neural filters and in the left hand menu we choose Depth Blur. In this filter we can adjust a bunch of different settings to get a natural looking background blur for our photo.
5:50 Final touch
To make the image even cooler, I'm adding a subtle glow in the top left corner using the brush tool with a warm color on a soft light layer
