Photographing waterfalls with innovative filters from Freewell

I've got the Freewell V2 Magnetic Hybrid VND/CPL 3-7 Stops Filter kit to try, and I'm going to photograph some waterfalls in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Pak (or Brecon Beacons).
If you want to buy these filters you can get them directly from Freewell at www.freewellgear.com/en/v2-hy...

Freewell makes good filters. I like the magnetic filter system over the screw-on. I am not a fan of VND however and must say from the photos in the video, there is definitely a color cast. But that can be fixed in post.

I'm interested to understand how you came to that conclusion about colour cast.

Comparing the video of the Falls to the stills shows a slight green cast.@@WalksOnTheWildSide

That's not colour cast. That's just the way I've chosen to edit my photo. Colour casts from filters moves towards magenta. See the example of colour cast I gave during the video where there is a purple ish top left hand corner.

Thanks. I have had filters give a color cast in greens though. They can vary.@@WalksOnTheWildSide

I get this is a VND filter ad, but any specific reason you weren't shooting at iso 100?

Hi. In all honesty - laziness! With the A9 there's not a lot of problem with noise between ISO 100 and 800. The light was very changable throughout the day and there was a lot of spray from the waterfalls. So I kept the filter covered between shots and just adjusted the ISO as the light changed instead of keep tweaking the VND and exposing the filter to the spray for longer.

Lovely location. These filters aren't really for me. Leaving a comment for the algorithm. 🙂
