Photographing Venus & The Pleiades (Unforgettable Night)
Venus and Pleiades Meet in the Night Sky!
Get Started in Astrophotography: bit.ly/2Vcr0iD
Astronomy and Stargazing Apps: bit.ly/3aGZaRY
Venus and the Pleiades star cluster have united in a beautiful conjunction that only occurs once every eight years. I captured a stellar image of the Planet Venus as it cruised past the seven sisters on April 1, and April 2.
The conjunction will peak Friday evening (April 3), when Venus and the Pleiades star Alcyone will be separated by only 0.25 degrees.
For the image in the video, I used Canon EOS 7D Mark II (stock) and a Rokinon 135mm F/2 Lens. The exposures were 30-seconds each, and I used 18 of them in total.
Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoyed the ISS pass as much as I did! Clear Skies.

I think it may have been sinus issues or something, because when I heard him say it the first time it sounded like "anus", but I went back and played it again and it _was_ in fact "Venus". I was thinking at first, though, "You mean there's another planet like Uranus?!
Very cool!

Another stellar video! Kudos to you for still being able to get out and celebrate this incredible hobby (and share it with us) during this difficult time.
Venus and the Pleiades and the ISS !!! Trevor , you are the best !!! Amazing !!
Three rigs at one time! You make it all look so easy. I appreciate your commitment to quality and at the same time engaging with us out here. Keep it up.
SO enjoyed this - absolutely stunning. PS. I love that big tree. I hope you can find it in your heart to keep and appreciate it.
Great shot of the 2nd night of the planet and cluster together! Picture perfect! Thanks for another vid, Trevor. Helping us all get through this!
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing this with us. Excellent job , mate.
so honoured by the astro backyard for showing us the wonders .. ISS, venus, seven sisters
Very cool Trevor! The ISS! Thanks for sharing!
First video of yours that I watched and boy did I love it. Beautiful work.
Currently watching two of your videos at once. Keep up the good work :)
I love how videos are coming in more frequently nowadays! Great video as always Trevor!
I was out under the stars imaging that night too. Good luck to you and yours in these troubling times. Clear Skies!
Perpetual clouds in my neck of the woods. Really nice shots as usual.
Beautiful video keep it like this Trevor !
Beautiful video and results! Congrats on the capture!
You're a great inspiration for me and these types of videos really make me happy
How could anyone dislike this video? Great job per usual, Trev.
Well done! I’ve been clouded over for a month, and last night I got lucky, finally got to use my new CGX and ASI 178MM. The moon was gorgeous. Great shots of Venus, Pleiades and the ISS. Keep up the good work! (PS you stole my idea of making a video of the spouse answering astro questions! Great minds think alike! :D) Clear skies!
Awesome.. You always keep us inspired.. Thanks Trevor.. may god bless you..
A disjointed video was exactly what I needed. Multiple projects, all at once. I really enjoyed the ISS video. I never grow tired of going out in my yard to see it pass whenever I get the chance. Another quality and entertaining post!

You don’t get tired watching a bright light fly over. While you fantasy brain fills in the rest? Because someone on a screen told you so. You actually believe. My sympathies go out to you. There is lots of help out there for people like yourself these DAZE. I hope you find a greater purpose for yourself one day 🙏🏼 Do you watch the Nordic Santa tracker or the ISS tracker? 🤔
Lovely😍😍 clear skies!
That was amazingly beautiful with Venus and the clouds.
Wow that was an amazing shot. I love shots like these. You don't often get the opportunity to capture objects like these in one frame. It makes it that more special.

So glad ive found someone who gets as excited as i do when the ISS passes over !
What a cool video and set up! Thanks for sharing!!!!
I enjoyed you setting up for the observing session. I am a pre-Sputnik amateur astronomer & still get pleasure from the night sky. Handheld iPhone pictures through my 10" Dob & skyscapes are the most of my photography but I have notebooks & drawings as my way of capturing what I see. I live in eastern Massachusetts. Clear skies to you & your incredibly supportive wife!
Nice work as usual Trevor.
That is a Killer Shot. We never take the time to mess with planets but that shot actually strikes an emotion. Really Cool. Sean
Great video man! Loving the video editing skills =)
Great video ! Inspiring as usual thank you !
Amazing shot of Venus/Pleiades Trevor. The ISS never fails to impress me! I remember the very first time i spotted it years ago and i was convinced a UFO was heading straight for my City! lol! Best Wishes from UK to Canada my friend! Wes, Liverpool, England ( Bortle 8 )
Why don’t you start with planetary astrophotography, Trevor? It would be nice to see some images and information coming from an experienced guy like you
Great shot Trevor. Love it as usal. Clear skys Bill N
Great video, managed to get a picture myself. It is eerily quite outside at night at the moment with the lockdown and no planes! Keep these great videos coming!
Great content, thanks for your work and for sharing with us.
Nice diffraction spikes on Venus! Great video.
OMG! Astrospheric is amazing. Thanks for the heads up!
Adding custom landscape to Stellarium is so useful! I managed to do this with mobile version as well, it required me to get the APK file from my phone, modify the necessary files and resign the APK with a Java keytool. It was kinda tricky but works well.
That’s a good lookin’ custom horizon! 😊
Thanks Trevor for the app, didn’t know that one and it’s great!
Yesterday it was a clear night here in Rio as well, I got really satisfied with the results of my fourth night doing astrophotography. Great video!
Great pics man as always
Trevor I really enjoyed your disjointed video. It's nice to see variety. Glad you got clear skies on the second night. Well worth the wait. And Ashley corrected you nine out of 10 haha.

That was along ISS Pass. Thanks so much for sharing this. It was amazing. I was out for awhile last night but not with the camera. I was hoping to shoot it tonight so I will pray we don't get the rain they were talking about.
Great video Trevor. I'm in StC as well, and those Wednesday night clouds were a huge bummer. It sucks when the clear sky chart shows everything near perfect, but clouds come out of no where. At least last night was clear!
Super cool shot of the ISS pass. Wish it got high enough up north here to see regularly.
God bless you and your wife, keep doing what you do!
I actually went out gazed up and was like damn boy that's one bright tar then I was like what is that cluster of stars. Thanks for the video!
I looked at this on Friday night through my Celestron ED80 and Venus was annoyingly bright enough to wash out most of the dimmer stars in the cluster. Very nice photos that you took, thank you for sharing.
Very good Trevor!
That's a beautiful picture of Venus and the 7 sisters.
I absolutely love your video, great explanation, great images, great music. Due to lockdown in France, I miss my meeting in a future dark sky reserve in the center of France (Bortle 2) and a trip to the sea to take pictures of the milky way. but your video is my way to escape during the lockdown. THANK YOU
The ending was just priceless. Hahaha. Tried to watch today myself pleiades with venus, but was quite cloudy here, had a glimpse few times of it.
Nice . Thanks for sharing. 👍
Awesome video mate x
Incredible Picture Trevor.. 👊😷
Great Job Trevor!!! The ISS is a near and dear to me type of target! I, being a ham have talked to the astronauts on the ISS, twice. I do have confirmation of those chats! A great target indeed. I love the work you do and has an amature astronomer you have inspired me to try astrophotography. Thanks for sharing! p.s. your dear wife went 9 for 10 LOL. Keep up the great work I'll be following Trevor. JP
I dont mind clouds when they add a dramatic effect. I saw the space station go over, third time this year, was able to get my wife to see it too, amazing. Nice video Trevor

Hey Trevor, just getting into some astrophotography and found your website & youtube channel. Used your settings and took a great timelapse of the night sky last night, turned out amazing. I'm in Eastern Ontario in the middle of nowheresville and zero light pollution. Ha. I look forward to taking some excellent night pics. All I have right now is a Canon T5I and a timelapse thingy, but I'll try my best. Thanks and keep the videos coming. New sub btw also ;)
Thank you! I love this!
As always Trevor, I enjoy your videos. I have an ISS app on my phone and it alerts me 5 minutes in advance when there is a fly over. Living here in western Pennsylvania, I get to see it fly by alot (sometimes twice an evening). Always impressive.
Lindo😍 Parabéns pelo vídeo.

STEVEN LS I haven’t been able to use it too muck because of cloudy skies, but i had some clear nights and I saw Pleiades, m42, and Venus. They looked spectacular. I have only been able to see Jupiter and Saturn once, and that was very rushed because I had to wake up in the morning and my alarm woke me up late. It looks like I have a clear morning tomorrow so I will tell you how Jupiter mars and Saturn are.

Ohhh, well done I really enjoyed the ISS ...
I see the ISS! Awesome video!!
Man oh man. I was out observing that last night too. I bummed I'm barely getting into this so I'm not fully set up for astrophotography yet. Great pic man.
OMG! Venus is stunningly beautiful. Thank you !
I love your videos, hopefully one day I'll be able to get some sort of set up. I can only use the astrophotography mode on my Pixel 4 for now. Your videos are really awesome!

Ola. Sou do Brasil .Parabens. Achei fantástico
Amazing shot!!!
Ran outside to watch the same ISS pass and looked westward to see Venus sitting just below the Pleiades, which was an unexpected bonus. 😯 ✨
I will be shooting this tomorrow night. Looks clear and Venus will be extended out as if it is an extension of the sauce pan handle. 👍👍 Great video as usual. My lad lives away from me and we watch the ISS whilst on the phone together 😍
Thanks for sharing this :)
Love the ISS pass! I try to catch passes over my house.
Watching the ISS never gets old.
This app though!!! Have you thought about an exoplanet transit curve? Great video as always man!
Great video dude!!
Great video:) thank you..
Hey Astro! Ive been a huge fan of yours for a few years now and I was wondering if you could maybe capture the Crab Nebula in Taurus. Every video continues to amaze and inspire me, keep up the great work!
Awesome video🤙
I haven’t even watched the video yet, and I’m already giving it a Like. I know it’s gonna be good.
i myself got a photo of this with the northern lights infront of it. it was so cool last night :D
I was observing just casually (just starting) and only 2 objects I could find under such moon-filled sky was Moon and Venus. Then I looked into Stellarium and found Pleiades are at the same spot (couldn't tell it was them, thought just some stars are there, completely normal thing I guessed). Now I've seen your video and found out it is kinda rare event once in 8 years. So happy (and lucky - lot of clouds) I could see it.
@AstroBackyard : Cant thank you enough. I am thankful to you for sharing the sight of ISS through naked eyes. I had no idea if we could see it with naked eyes before seeing it on your video. Also I always wondered if it would be possible to see the ISS from New Delhi (India). But it looks like this event was inevetible. Me viewing this video and specially focusing on the ISS trajectory and instantaneously realizing there are android apps to help track the location of ISS. I jumped on to the play store, download the first app i Saw. Loaded it and bang on, within 4 minutes the ISS was about to fly over India. I stood outside anxiously waiting for the sight of the ISS in the night sky using the direction in the app, just like a kid waits for the icecream van to come by.. And praise the lord, i had goosebumps. ISS crossing the night sky... i dint know what to do, should i click a photograph or just stand there watching it pass by. I called my mom and showed her the amazing sight. In 30 years for the first time I saw the ISS cross the night sky, a thing that I only saw in books and television. This is one the best gifts I could ever get. Thank you so much for putting it out for the world to see and learn... My DSLR now has a reason to lookup in the night sky. It now knows what it is supposed to click. Thank you once again...
Dude you're one of if not the best astro guy on the planet
Hey Trevor, great video and excellent photo of Venus/Pleiades! I was wondering about the setting, in which f number did you take those? I'd reckon higher f for that amount of time on target? Did it also produce a better sunburst on Venus? I just realized today an odd number of blades will create a more populated sunburst, so will try tonight again with a different lens...
Astrospheric is my jam!!
Awesome, my local sky was cloudy i'll try to see it by my own eye today, but thanks to your video i can saw it before :D anyway good video
