Photographing Lavender Fields in France - Valensole

This is the first of two videos I recorded during a recent Camper-van trip through France. We started in the South, at the Valensole plateau to photograph the blooming Lavender and as you can see in this video, it was a bit challenging because of the conditions.
In the end though, I think I made the best out of it and came away with a few beautiful landscape photos, which I share in the video. In addition to exploring the Lavender fields of Valensole I also ventured into the Gorges du Verdon to photograph the Moon-rise over this massive canyon.
In addition to showing you the beautiful landscapes of Southern France I also share tips about Landscape photography and I have also just published an article about Astrophotography, in which I go into details about how to capture high quality night photos, like the one I show in the video.

The great thing about photography is that you learn to take time to observe. The environment where you were photographing here is breathtaking in itself, but because of the professionalism of you as a photographer it is even magical. In today's society, everything has to be done faster than fast. When I was still working at an international bank and was in the daily hectic pace of deadlines and I saw colleagues around who were facing a burnout, I invited them to join me for a walk and photograph together in nature. I have been retired for years now, but I still occasionally receive messages and photos from former colleagues who have continued to photograph. Just take the time to observe the world around you during a nice walk. The only thing that needs to be fast is your camera. Thanks for sharing your photography adventure. 🆒🎦📷🎬👌🙏👍🍀😊👋🚶‍♂️

Thanks for the comment. Totally agree. That's why I picked up landscape photography as my hobby, being out in nature creates the perfect balance. And that's also why my Vlogs are not hectic and fast - although this is usually what gets more views ;-)

Hi!! Lovely pix of the lavendar fields in Valensole! I'm planning to visit in July & would like to see the lavendar fields in Valensole. Do you know which nearby town in Valensole to stay for 1 night with eateries/shop/markets? Thanks for your help!

If you just have 1 night, then try the town of Valensole directly. I usually stay between Valensole and the Verdon Gorge. Moutiers is great. But with just one day and focus on Lavender, better stay close to the plains.

I have invested tons of time and money in plans that didn’t materialise because the light refused to play along.
