I am late too to the news. May I just say thank you to the Thorpe family for yet another inspiring story from a truly talented man who will be much missed. All the best wishes from Spain to Mr Thorpe's family.

I first listened to David's Olympus four-thirds reviews a number of years ago, and on the back of his detailed and positive review of the Olympus E-PL5 I bought one for my wife. Tragically, she died a little under two years ago before making the most of it, but my son is now enjoying getting to grips with it. As a result of another of David's reviews I recently bought the Olympus E-M1 Mkll, with which I am very happy. But it wasn't just the high quality of David's technical reviews, it was the style and humour with which he conducted them. I'll miss his reviews, but I'll miss far, far more the wonderful character of the man behind them.

David was a great storyteller, regardless of the topic. I miss his wit and humor. No wonder we followed him so ardently. I was always excited when he posted a new video. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing this interesting memory. It actually prompted me to start recording my own father's memories, as he approaches the last few months of his own life. Perhaps it has prompted others to do the same. Thank you once again.

Tell me about it. I cried, for a long time. I only hope at some point his family get some out-takes or do some slide shows of his work etc context and audio-less if need be. Great man, RIP.

I'm late to this news about David, but just want to add my own appreciation. I never missed one of his videos and learnt a lot from them. I'm sure we can't ease your loss by saying his passing is our loss too but it is profoundly sad to hear that great voice weakened. I hope you are all well and coping and thank you for adding to his stock towards the end.

I can just imagine your sharp elbows keeping the late comers at bay. I’m sure this was a long day at work, but hopefully a fond memory. Thanks for sharing David.

That may be one of the best and most accurate summaries of how to work the photo pit at a concert. Thank-you for sharing his stories, we will dearly miss him and his gentle spirit.

It's always warming to hear a lifelong photographer recalling memorable life experiences vis a vis their photographic craft. We continue to draw inspiration from David's work, his advice, and his enthusiasm. Perhaps in doing so, we keep a part of his spirit alive amongst us, and his love and dedication to photography ongoing through us. Kind regards and thanks to the Thorpe family.

Neat! Great shot through the hole in the mics, too. My old man is still alive, but I can't have a conversation like that with him any more, sadly. David and dad have one thing in common, though: lives very well lived indeed. When you do your final video, please put links to each of these smaller ones in the description of it like an index of the final works. Thank you.
