These little snakes are certainly in my top 10 of the cutest snakes! Despite their cuteness, they are a venomous species of elapid possessing both neurotoxic and cytotoxic venom.
Thankfully, this species are primarily bluffers.
Meaning they resort to huffing and puffing along with flattening their necks out in a defensive display to ward of threats. They have numerous similarities to our US native eastern hognose in the sense that they use their large facial scale to dig through loose soil for their food and use numerous defensive displays to ward off threats rather than biting.
