Already do it and love the effects and new ways from here
Somehow I've acquired a box full of photo paper, I was going to pass it on. Thanks to you, I'm so glad I didn't, thank you for the wonderful techniques! I know what I'll be doing today...lol! Lou, you have such unique ideas, always thank you for showing us how.
Lou, This is my favorite type of video!! I just love this idea!! I have so much photo paper and have not used it in a long time!! But I will be doing this for sure!! Thanks so much!!
All your backgrounds are beautiful, Lou!! I will have to get out my photo paper and start using it!! Thanks for sharing!! 😊
What great effects. I love them both but I think the distress oxide is my favourite. The colour seems stronger. Thank you for another amazing video. - Dawn 🌅🧡🧡🧡🧡
Me!! Frequently see super cheap packs of photo paper at the thrift stores. Now that I watched your video I have some new fun techniques to try. Thanks!!! 🎉❤

I just bought some very cheap matte photo paper from our thrift store thinking I'll do something with it. I left all of the glossy photo paper so it looks like I need to go back and get them 👍
LOVE this! I've never committed to alcohol inks and yupo - but I do have some blending solution ... and all of the other supplies you profile here! I can't wait to start playing! Thank you for your creativity and inspiration!
Try thoroughly soaking your photo paper with water before you put any ink on, then stamp in a colour (creates a gorgeous vintagey/distressed/watercolour stamp effect), then add other ink colours. Using lots of water helps layer colours to some degree. Luise Heinzl does a series of fantastic tutorials on them.
I already knew about using distress inks and oxides on photo paper, but I learned so many new tips from you! Thank you!
Thanks for the fabulous technique Lou. The results were fabulous.
Fantastic video! Thank you for the many ideas. I would've never thought to use photo paper like this😮
I love this idea! Ever thought of photo paper as a medium before!
Thank you Lou! I haven't played with my alcohol inks in awhile and I haven't tried them on photo paper...yet. Have a beautiful day.
Love this idea!🎉 I have alot of photo paper and had no plans for it, until now 😊 thank you!!!!
Such interesting and varied results. Love this video! Thanks Lou. x
Hi Lou. Love this technique and will definitely be trying this one. I have tons of photo paper so this will be a wonderful technique for me. Thanks so much for sharing. 😊❤
Fun techniques! I have packets of photo paper! I will be giving this a try! Tfs
Luckily I was able to find some photo paper from years ago so I can get started right away. Love the ideas as always! Lori
I did this right after watching. I love how shiny and colorful they are! Unfortunately I didn't have blending solution, so used 99% alcohol. It still gave me a great result, but I imagine the resin like substance in the solution works better. I've since added to my "wish list". Pretty awesome that I got such fab results with my $1.25 ~100 sheets photo paper. THANKS for a fun afternoon!
I have a lot of photo paper, and I can’t wait to try these techniques on it. I’ve never thought to use photo paper for these techniques.
I love doing the embossing ink technique, super cool!Great tips and tricks as always ❤
Scored a couple of rolls of glossy photo paper from my mum's craft room recently as my dad passed away also and we are cleaning out their house. Was going to to donate it but not now! I was pretty sure it had to have a crafty use, or mum would not have had it in her stash.
I will be coming back. Great ideas.
Oh, so happy you mentioned this! A few of us did this some years ago with Oxides and found that it worked on some photo paper and not on others - no rhyme or reason. But that was Oxides, not regular Distress. And when we wiped it off slightly the color sometimes changed! I still have some old aka ugly backgrounds from it and use it for strips or other shapes and it stops being ugly.
❤🎉 VERY Elegant of a way to use alcohol inks & photo paper! I LOVE it!! 🎉❤ Hugs my crafty and creative Friend 💕 XOXOXO 💞
Thank you. I'm going to go have a play!
Thank you for these ideas. 🌻🌻
Wow how cool is this. I can, maybe, create my own marble like papers. I have just invested in alcohol inks, paper and blending solution. I don’t have any distress inks or sprays just distress oxide inks. Will definitely give this a go. 💕 Thank you Lou.
Very nice! Reminds me of Luise Heinzel's photo paper tutorial. TYSM for sharing!
Thanks for sharing theses ideas, I’ve been wondering what to do with all my photo paper. 🙂
I love working with inks on photo paper. Wetting the paper first, then using stamps with colours then spray stains or inks/oxides smooshed using a Gelli plate or other good smooshing surface creates gorgeous vintage effects! Luise Heinzl does some amazing techniques with photo paper. Just make sure you DON’T use Glossy photo paper on your Gelli plate or it will stick to the plate & ruin it. Use Matte photo paper there. I really love the partially oxidised effect you get using lots of water first & Distress Oxides too. Gives some gorgeous galaxy effects with cloudy areas & bright colourful areas. Also the water allows for more layering of colours too.
Would never had thought of using embossing ink on photopaper. What a great idea! Wondering what would happen if I photoshoped something into black and white, printed on the glossy photo paper and then did any one of these techniques. Guess there's only one way to find out. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great ideas 😍💜🧚♀️😘
Can’t wait to get started! Lots of options here!
I absolutely love the backgrounds you created. I’ve never used photo paper with my Distress products before, but will definitely be going out to buy some photo paper soon and spend an afternoon creating pretty papers. Just FYI, white ink’s are made with pigment only, including Distress Picket Fence. I learned that from one of Tim Holtz’s KZread videos a few years ago. So I’m not sure what’s causing the resist when you used Picket Fence, but it’s not white dye ink. Likely it’s the resins in the ink that made it fluid.
I'm going to use these techniques in my art journal! This is so cool!
This was/is awesome! I was about to donate some photo paper that I no longer need it but boy was I wrong! Sorry donation center I'm keeping it now! I'm very new to mixed media and this is so beautiful 😍 Thank you so much for sharing this!!😊
Fabulous demo Lou xx
I’ve been doing the oxide technique for years, and have so many backgrounds because it’s so much fun! Thank you for these other techniques! Will definitely be trying them!
Now to find the photo paper I have stashed somewhere in my craft room! Beautiful backgrounds. Thank you for sharing.
EXCELLENT tutorial!!
My favourite fun technique with photo paper is to blend on Distress Oxide inks then wipe off with a baby wipe. Magic! The colour is so intense.
Looks like it’s been a long time since most of us have played around with photo paper and stains and distress inks. I absolutely love the dramatic effect the colors have on photo paper. Oxides are a brilliant designed ink. Because they are diluted here after sprayed with water I wonder if the new distressed spritz’ Will work. Hummm thanks Lou

@@Dotalina33 the mica in the spritzes only sits on top of the paper and easily wipes away when dried x
I've used photo paper before, but not in a long time. I have NEVER used it with resist and I absolutely love that one with the stencil. I don't have the sprays, but I definitely have distress and oxides. I will play with this this week.
What a brilliant lesson Lou - thank you so much for sharing x
Going to give this a good go. Looks awesome.
Been a while since I played with inks and my photo paper, thanks Lou!
Thank you for your video and I will look to see if I have any photo paper. I've saved it too.
Brilliant tutorial thank you
Wow! Learned a lot of great stuff!
Wow! I am definitely going to try this!
Thanks for the tips!

Give the BACKSIDE of the photopaper a try rather than the front side. You'll get much better reactions to movement and combination of the inks. I've been working with alcohol ink and fluid art for four years and use GLOSSY INKJET photopaper as my substrate but on the backside. You need GLOSSY INKJET photopaper because it can handle the wet better than a matte paper. Do not try this with laser photopaper, it's not built to handle the wet. Lovely results!
Ive only tried alcohol inks on photo paper but not oxides😊
I don't have the Distress Inks, i only have Stampin' Up waterbased ink pads. Have you tried these? Thanks. I will be trying myself but just wondering your thoughts...❤

Can you use isopropyl alcohol instead of the blending solution? The solution is quite expensive and you seemed to use quite a bit.
