Great idea, you can find a small portable solar panel to keep your battery fresh at all times as long as there's sunlight, they are about 8x10" I use it while at remote areas.

Oh, heck, I've actually got a couple of those old Buff Vagabond inverters in my closet.

This was a classic portable power hack about 10 years ago! (2007?) thanks for bringing back the classic Vagabond to memory! 😃 I wonder if a normal inverter would work - though perhaps not pure sine wave.

Joel, what recycle time do you get at full power with the car battery? what was the amperage on the optima battery

You want a samilex 300 watt pure sine wave inverter. And a battery at least 12 amp hours to mimic a vagabond. You can pick up a lightweight litium sla equivalent for 50 quid.

I'm not finding the original Paul C. Buff inverter anywhere. So I was considering getting a 2,000-watt pure peak sine inverter (there are many varieties and sources available) and a 12 volt / 35 amp garden tractor battery to power 2 Godox 200 watt studio strobes. Is there anything else that I should be considering ?

What you need when you buy an inverter is a (Pure Sine Wave) type & get a deep cycle marine battey or head to the wreckers for a junker!. Marine batteries can be used until they are dead flat & will be able to recharge, if you drain a normal battery to nothing it may not be able to charge!.

The Paul Buff inverter is pure sine wave--that was always the big deal about them.

You didn't notice Joel's Godox in the background? He's talking getting ten times the full power shots on location than you get with the Godox.
