PHILOSOMA (PLAYSTATION - FULL GAME)

Zeus presents Philosoma (un-emulated) for the Playstation, a true classic from the golden era of Playstation gaming which must not be forgotten alongside the software house and all programmers that were involved in making this game.
Year of release: 1996
Well I gotta say I was looking forward to playing this but just 10mins into it I was sick of it and all because of one major issue,...TOO MUCH BLOODY LOUD DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE PILOTS!!!,...It totally did my head in,...ROGER this and ROGER that, chat chat chat Roger Roger Roger...AAAAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!!, and you cannot adjust the balance of volume between the game it'self and the commentary, I had to turn the sound completely off in the end, and if that wasn't bad enough it contains an intro that lasts nearly 5mins!
You can certainly see where they put most of the money and concentration in and that's all of the animation sequences, the game it'self if quite dull looking and boring, I was expecting so much more, there is an interesting section where you must fly through the tunnels in first-person style (38:00) but it isn't enough to come back for, just a shame the options do not allow you to turn commentary off, it's just way too much and over the top.
My advice, play it once with the cheat code on like I did (99 lives), complete it and don't come back, it will do your head in too with all the chatter.
A huge thanks goes out to youtuber "ASH81B4U" for kindly lending me this game so I could upload it on my channel, thanks very much pal, check his retro collecting channel out for some cool retro stuff: / ash81b4u
I hope all you Playstation fans enjoy this upload.
Please note: NONE of my game uploads are emulated in any way whatsoever, they are 100% original recordings by myself taken directly from the original hardware the game was intended for, that way you know you're watching the real thing.
I will also always state weather i am using any cheats in the game, if not mentioned then i am not using any.
Check out my channel ( / zeusdaz , dedicated to gamers who loved the games of yesteryear.

I remember renting this game when it came out; after playing it I liked it so much that I wanted to buy it, but could never find a copy. This was not only a unique gaming experience, but also a cinematic one and the soundtrack on this game was epic. Other great shooters were Sega CD's Silpheed, PS1's Einhander and Geist Force. Geist Force was in development for the Dreamcast, but was later cancelled for unknown reasons. It was overly ambitious and had so much potential, too bad it got permanently shelved.

Love this game for its different aspects, from side scrolling to 3D. Similar to Axelay on Snes. Saying that Axelay 2 should of been like this but better executed. Philosoma is still a good game though.

Well if you think back then it was quite impressive for what it did on an early playstation. But as you say, it is actually quite a boring shooter. A fair bit of this game could have been done on an AGA Amiga if the company was still about. FMV was all the rage in the mid nineties mate.

ash81b4u Yeah as I said before, you can certainly see where they put their effort in,...the game it'self was just rough looking and just annoying. Thanks for lending it me though :-)
