What I meant is that it works with my chromecast because it is directly connected to the sync box but not when I use apps like Netflix on my tv

@Darius Steven Wallin - So for you to use apps like Netflix they must be run from a device connected through the sync box. Since the TV doesn’t pass through the box your smart apps can’t sync.

@@vindungen6759 Hi, yes you can buy two mount packs and also I’ve added a live chat option on the website so you should be able to message us directly and I’ll help you get your order setup. The mounts I’ve actually gotten updated so they have the adhesive backs built right in so much easier to apply. For the box you’ll be good with two mounts.

To everyone watching, I’ve Pre ordered the new Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip for my TV. This light strip is multicolored instead of just single colored like the strip I have now. @@QasimZafar hello, i did everything exactly how you explained , but my hue box stop at this part: i managed to connect at wireless, after i need to confirm the connection and press power button (3 seconds) and release it when is green. Led turns red and stay like that, but i cannot connect to it. Tried multiple times, reset it, started again from scratch, no success. What to do anymore please?

My play strip is not reacting to my tv. I did not get the screen to name all my HDMI ports and my two lights are not seen in the drag and place part of the setup. How do I re sync everything?

@@DNJ122 hey nick just create a new entertainment are from the hue sync app and then you should be able to reassign new lights and get them in there 😊

What if you don’t have a hue bridge will the lights still work with a sync box

@Robin van Droffelaar Yeah the google home install is weird because the instructions from philips weren’t working for me. So I kept playing around with it myself until I got it to work. I’m glad I helped man the voice controls are a major plus because I love google home.

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I finally have my Phillips Hue lights setup finished. My best examples are the Dolby Atmos demo and a car video with the music setting on.

Thank you John I appreciate the feedback and you for watching! Yeah I have it disabled because the signal that it passes out just doesn’t seem the register. The box or what you’re watching thinks that you’re trying to record the content and that’s why the sync and even playback tends to stop entirely. This is something that Philips needs to address and solve with an update. Based on my knowledge and experience that’s all I know and I hope it helps!

Great man. I have never seen a step by step guide like this. Thanks for sharing 👍🏽 I might not be going to use this as these are really expensive here in India but however I enjoyed the way you guided through the setup process. By the way, are those light strips behind the tv also hue strips as well? And will this work without the bridge? ( The bridge is the most expensive item on this list ) Edit: I got answers after going through your other videos. 👍🏽

Erik Ence - Those are magnet mounts. I used super glue to attach them to the box. Glued two metal plates to the wall so they mount there and hold the box in place.

That’s awesome man, the box is definitely worth it I’ve had so much joy watching content and playing games on here. If you add a lightstrip then go for the gradient one...I’ve done a video on that one too...really love how it changes multiple colors. You too man take care and be safe ✌🏽😊

I have a little q… I recently bought my Samsung Q700 soundbar and plugged it directly to the tv but for some reason since day 1 I’ve been having a video “lag” when it comes to a black screen of 3-4 seconds before the video comes up. Any suggestion? I have the soundbar connected directly to the TV with HDMI eArc. My sync box currently has plugged in my Apple TV and PS5., sync box is connected directly to tv of course.

@@QasimZafar So far I have colored lights in my recessed ceiling, with an LED strip behind my tv, but i'll be getting the gradient strip soon and i'll move the LED strip to the cabinet underneath my wall mounted tv. I am finding that my ceiling lights are too distracting when watching a movie with the sync box. Still trying to find the right way to configure the lights to make it enjoyable. Guess that's part of the fun of setting up Hue lights. :)

@Mundashie - That’s awesome I also started with the standard strip and now I’ve got the gradient strip. I really love the effect of the gradient strip. I’ve got bulbs in my ceiling as well and you are right sometimes depending on what I’m watching it can be distracting so I always set the intensity to low. Yeah you’re right just playing around with the lights and syncing different things you’ll eventually find stuff that works best for your setup. I really love my Philips hue lights and I enjoy them very much 😊.

Just picked up a Philips hue sync box and have my PS5 hooked up to it best decision ever . All I need now is the gradient light strip

I’ve used a newer fire stick and now currently using the new google chromecast device and I haven’t had a single issue this far. Hope this helps!

Great video!!! From my understanding, the light only work if there is an input from the Sync box. So watching regular programs such as Disney/Netflix from your TV doesnt control the light?

Thank you for watching I appreciate it! Yes you need to have the inputs running through the box to have them sync. For example to sync with things like Disney plus if you have the app on an Apple TV or fire stick which is plugged into the box connected to the tv then the lights can sync.

Wow that’s awesome man it definitely should the sync works well with the TV. You should also try out their desktop app, it’s free for Pc and Mac it’s great if you’ve got lights at your computer desk that are philips hue. Then you can have them sync with the desktop screen. Just google “hue sync desktop app”. That’s what I tried before actually getting the box 😁

@@QasimZafar Hey Qasim thanks for the follow up. Yes it's installed and working. Getting it to function with my Harmony hub/remote was tricky.. cause sometimes you just want to watch the news on TV without the light going nuts. But loving it so far. Was a bit disappointed by the fact the app stated that some of my bulbs weren't optimal color wise. Seeing they're 1st gen Hue bulbs. But I'm pleased with the results thus far. Was eyeing that gradient strip but won't be able to place it behind my projector screen. Hue team contacted me about it.

@South Shore Saber Services - Hey thanks for writing in and yes that is a Sonos sound bar. There shouldn’t be issues nowadays when connecting sound bars. I’ve got mined connected straight to the TV via optical cable so I haven’t had issues. If you’re connecting one through hdmi arc then make sure arc bypass is enabled on the box and you should be fine. Hope this helps! Take care, be safe and thank you for watching 🙏🏽😊

Yes, I am also happy with the Google home. I use it for the Philips Hue lamps and for switching the TV on and off and now also for the sync box. I hope you will also make new videos about the new ledstrip that I will also buy myself.

If you do your switching thorough an AVR for a surround/ATMOS system would you then plug the HDMI coming out of the AVR to any one of the HDMI inputs of the Hue Sync Box?

@Dave Klein - Yes that’s how you would do it but make sure you enable the ARC bypass.From the hue sync app open up the settings tab, then click on advanced settings and then turn on “enable arc bypass”. Let me know if this helps and also thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊

You also need an external streaming device to connect to the box so you can have your content sync. Hope this helps and do let me know if you have any other questions 😊

Quick Question! As we have a smart TV and watch everything with the installed steaming apps, Can the lights still be used regardless if they arnt connected to the sync box? I understand the light wont reflect whats happening on screen but I still obviously would like them on rather it just being used for my games consoles

Hey Adrian first of all thank you very much for watching and your feedback it really means a lot 🙏🏽. So the soundbar you’re gonna leave it as is connected straight to the TV. The PS4 (soon to be PS5 😊), the NVIDIA player and the TV box plug them in directly to the input ports on the sync box. Then just run one hdmi from the out port of the sync box to any hdmi in off the TV and you should be good to go 😊. Also you’re gonna love the setup as I really love my gradient lightstrip it’s a huge change from the previous strip and is just beautiful. Also if you play Cold War then we should play sometime. I have the new series s but that game has cross play 😊. Take care and thanks again...Do let me know if you have any trouble after setup and I’ll be more than glad to help ✌🏼

Thanks for the video. I've recently purchased this box, cause I have a bridge for my current lights, I wanted to upgrade. Quick question. I still have the old app for the first lights of the entertainment area, and now when I purchased this new box it made me download another app but an updated version, so basically I have two apps to control the same area. And they keep on messing up with each other and the lights dont work as well and or always turn off when my phone is not on. It's really weird. Do you think the old app is messing around with the new app?. Should I delete both apps and download them again for a full reset and see if that fixes it?. Thank you

iByron m - Yes I am, I have it directly connected to the TV via optical cable and it works perfectly in sync with the content and lights.

How do tekmomo magnets do with vibration. I want to hang my sync box and atv to a wall; I have a subwoofer on my set up and was wondering if bass would cause magnets to fail.

@aure p - That won’t effect the magnets, I have a subwoofer sitting in the wall where I have my tv and I’ve not had any issues. The magnets are strong and also the adhesive on them is very strong. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

So you don't need a separate bridge in addition to the sync box for the extra lights that sync with the tv motions on the side?(The lights in addition to the lights on the back of the tv)

Hi. This video helped me a lot thank you. Only problem is that my hdmi cable is connected from my tv to my denon system which connects to my external speakers. I tried disconnecting the hdmi from the tv but it disconnects the surround sound. Also my blue ray is connected to denon receiver also so how do I get the hue lights to work with blu ray player. Also my fire stick is not working since taking it out if my tv and connecting it to the hue sync box. HELP please !!! Do I need an hdmi coupler ???

Where can I find the HDMI sync box?? I was going to get the entire kit yesterday at Best buy but I only found the gradient light strip 65-in and the hue bridge, the HDMI sync box seems to be out of stock everywhere everywhere

@Dakota Watson - Yeah this has actually been an on going issue since last year during Covid 😢. What I’d recommend is order it through Amazon because that way when it gets back in stock it’ll be shipped to you. I just checked and right now it’s expected to be delivered September 27th. How do you have the lights set at the bottom of the tv? I will have my sonos mounted underneath my tv, but I’m not sure which route I should take for the bottom of the tv lights

@DjN0nam3 - I took my tv down when I went to setup my lightstrip. I got two extensions and just ran it along the border of the TV. I’ve now upgraded to the gradient strip. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.

If I want to can I have the sync box off and just watch TV with no lights ? I ask as I often fall asleep with the audio coming out of my soundbar via a Apple TV and a switcher but with the tv off, so will the sync box turn on when I power on the Apple TV ? or can I pick and choose

@MovieCaveDave - Yes you can most certainly do that. The sync box only comes on and starts when you initiate sync. Other than that you can do everything as you normally would.

can you control hue lights with LTE connection after the initial setup?For example I may want to turn on one of them before I enter my home...

Hello what did you use to play on tv ? 4k player xbox one x player 4k dvd blueray as this is not the same as dreamscreen witch work as should useing xbox ps4 or a 4k player what are you useing ??

G M Hi I used a fire stick to play media on my TV. Had Xbox one here as well but I moved that to my office area to play on my curved monitor.

Is there anyway you can sync them with applications within the tv? I have a Samsung tv and I watch KZread Netflix prime etc all with the tv applications without external sources.

@J.W. - Unfortunately not, the best option to having all those things sync is grabbing a fire stick and plugging it into the box. The content has to pass through the sync box for it to sync. Hope this helps and thank you for watching the video I really appreciate it! 🙏🏽😊

Thanks for your video! I hope they release an update where you can add more lights to the entertainment areas, you can add up to 10 only. But you can add up to 50 lights to the bridge i Believe. If you can pass this message to Philip hue Department to allow more than 10 lights in the entertainment areas, it will be great. Thanks 😊

Perhaps 🤔 soon with a new update they do it. Yes, that will be great if you can reach them too. Actually, I called Philip hue today and the person I spoke said he hasn’t heard anything about adding more lights to the entertainment areas for syncing, but he did summit my request to the Philip hue teams. I believe The more customers who ask for this, they probably will do it sooner...I’m pretty sure they can accomplish that, this company is the best making this types of lights and are way ahead of others in technology. Thanks for your reply and will definitely keep you in Mind if any other questions.

Hey thanks for watching! Unfortunately you need to connect it into a standard hdmi port not e-arc and also in order for apps to sync you will need an external device like a fire stick that’s connected to the box. Hope this helps!

@Mehrad Mousavi - Hey thank you for the feedback and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the video. So In this video I’ve got the lightstrip plus with two extensions that is behind the TV. Then I’ve got 6 bulbs in my ceiling lights which are the hue color bulbs. Lastly I’ve also got one bulb in the lamp between the sofas. I’ve since upgraded the TV lightstrip to the new gradient lightstrip. Those are all the hue lights I’ve got in the video. In the description I’ve got links for all the different hue products I use. Hope this helps and do let me know if you have any other questions for me 😊.

It actually won’t you have to have an external device running through the box for it to be able to sync the content. I’ve used it with firestick, chromecast and Apple TV and all have worked well. If you’ve got a laptop then you don’t actually need a sync box all you need is hue lights and the hue sync desktop app that you can download here: www.philips-hue.com/en-us/explore-hue/propositions/entertainment/sync-with-pc Inside this app you’re just gonna make an entertainment area and setup your light and you can enjoy syncing content. Pretty much...philips ambilight TVs were available here in USA at one point but no longer are and so this does the job well 😊

Hello! I have this setup LG CX + Philips Sync Box + Apple TV 4k 2021 and it's not working! I tried things such as switching HDMI cables, inputs from the Philips Box , resetting the devices and nothing! The moment I press the button "start sync" on the Philips Hue Sync app the gradient light goes off! Tried Netflix, Disney + , HBO etc etc It's a nightmare this box!

I hope you’re still answering comments on this video! Can you see if there’s a setting in the sync app to enable “ARC” on any of the hdmi inputs? It’s critical for me because my Apple TV is connected wirelessly to my HomePods and the Apple TV needs to get an ARC feed over hdmi from the TV in order to play wirelessly. However, the Apple TV also needs to be sync with the lights, therefore it needs to go through the sync box. TLDR; I want my Xbox and Apple TV plugged into the sync box and audio being fed to the Apple TV through the sync box via ARC. Thanks! I hope you understand me wanting to confirm this feature exists before dropping $200+ on the sync box :)

@Rumeel12708 - Yes the ceiling lights work as they normally would. They’re smart bulbs so they can be either controlled by app, manually or with your voice. Yes you just need to enable ARC bypass through the sync box settings. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊

Hi, this is an amazing how to, but I have a question. I have a new Samsung TV that has the feature to recognize the device on the HDMI port, so I can pair the TV remote to it in order to only use 1 remote for everything. Do you think this feature is still going to work, as the devices would regroup on 1 HDMI via the HUE box? Also would this allow the Apps that run on the TV directly (Tizen OS) like KZread, Amazon Prime, Disney+ etc. Thank you already

The built in apps on the TV will run but for you to sync you’ll have to use devices like the fire stick to pass through the box so the content can sync. Hope this helps!
