I've recently bought this philips multicooker and was happy to see someone thinking outside the box, thank you.. I prefer to sett my yogurt in jars like you have shown. The only difference to your procedure is that I followed the instructions in the book by not pre boiling the milk and cooling down, then followed your steps by mixing the culture to the milk in the jars and setting the multicooker to 12 hours as I like to cook longer to cut back on the lactose.

So whats the difference putting the pressure regulator on seal like in the book or in this case vent? Is it because ur using jars etc?

The are no pressure inside, the only reason I can think off is to maintain the temperature inside the pot, due to I am in a hot climate, seal or vent made no difference for me

this looks manual job, can we just pour milk there and it will do the rest perhaps?

What's the point of the instant pot if you have to mess up all those other containers??

My Children prefer to have their individual jar, you may choose to put it direct on the pot

@@pkfsylvia If that works for you, fine. I made some today boiling the milk in the instant pot, cooling it down in a bowl while I cleaned the pot, and then, I set it on yogurt mode for the day. More watery than I prefer, even with adding milk powder but I'm trying to strain it for the first time. I like thick yogurt!

@@ellenjoannecampbell7319 pkfsylvia is using a philips not instant pot. The philips doesn't have the pre boil function as you see on the instant pot. The point of this exercise was to show an alternative to set the yoghurt in jars rather than in the pot that then needs to be transferred to jars or container. If your yoghurt is watery boil the milk a second time for 5 minutes and see if that helps.. I usually heat the milk on the stove and keep it at 82 celcius for 20 minutes, then cool down to under 40 celcius, add the culture and fill jars and place in an esky with thermostat with temp set to 38 celcius for up to 24 hours. I get thick yogurt same as greek yogurt and practically lactose free. If I want a lighter tasting yogurt I'll ferment to 12 hours. You could try a similar procedure with your instant pot but the only thing is you won't be able to get the temperature down to 38 celcius as these things generally sit around 43 celcius.
